40% off Moments to Memories, SWP Decaf + 25% off Ethiopia CM SO, Hario Smart Electric Grinder + $6.99 Postage @ Lime Blue Coffee

800

Hey Oz Bargain Community,

If you're flat chat, feel free to skip to the bold writing below :)

I'd rate the quality of our regular offerings are excellent. In the past we have offered coffees that are at the next level of quality, which is exceptional, these have been available via our AeroPress bundles and Frequent Buyers Club Surprise Mystery Flight stops. We have received remarkably positive feedback about the limited amount of exceptional quality coffee we've made available in the past. We've had numerous emails for example asking if a specific Mystery Stop or bundle coffee was available for an additional individual purchase. Furthermore, there's been recent requests to extend the spectrum of coffee flavour choices and an option for a lighter roasts specifically suited for black coffees. You asked, we've listed, drum roll please…for the first time ever we're releasing a coffee at that next level of quality (exceptionally unique) available as an individual purchases item. We've decided to test the waters of offering these super high-end coffees with an Ethiopia Carbonic Maceration (info about the CM process is on the product page) Natural Amber Single Origin. To give you an idea of how rare this level of coffee is, an excellent coffee will be sent to us in 30-70kg bags of green/raw coffee, this exceptionally unique coffee is sent to us 4kg vacuum packed bags of green/raw AKA relatively speaking there's not much of it available. We do fully acknowledge that the price tag of these super high-end coffees does get up there a bit, but it's not because there's a crazy high margin, it's because they cost more time, money and knowledge to produce, not to mentioned they're rare and uniquely delicious as well. Rest assured even if these super high-end style coffees are wildly popular they'll always just be extra icing on the cake, they won't replace the whole cake AKA the quality, price and experience that Lime Blue Coffee is known for will continue. We have no plans to stop offering excellent coffees and only offer exceptionally unique coffees which cost a small fortune (we believe there's good reason for the higher cost). Overall for us this is a big moment, as such and in acknowledgment that we're not intending to make a shift to only offer super high cost coffees this CM launch deal also features our lowest priced coffee, the beloved Moments to Memories, with our currently highest priced coffee, the uniquely exceptional (and delicious) Ethiopia Carbonic Maceration Natural Amber Single Origin. Additionally this deal features our SWP Decaf and the Hario Smart G Electric Grinder.

We're offering you a 40% discount off Moments to Memories + SWP Decaf and 25% off Ethiopia Carbonic Maceration Single Origin + Hario Smart G Handy Electric Grinder, see details below:

1) Moments To Memories Blend, only $14.55 per 500g (usually $24.25 per 500g), and $25.50 per 1kg (usually $42.50 per 1kg)

2) Swiss Water Process Decaf, only $16.19 per 500g (usually $26.99 per 500g), and $28.79 per 1kg (usually $47.98 per 1kg)

  • SA|WA Flat Rate Shipping $9.99 Express Post. Regular parcels travel to SA & WA via train. The recent floods have damaged the rail line to SA & WA and a freight train has derailed, as such we've been informed by Australia Post that standard delivery to SA & WA is currently not an option for the foreseeable future. Express Post travels by plane, so it's still a viable option. We understand some of our SA & WA customers would prefer our "$6.99 No Delivery Company Preference" standard shipping option. Our Express Post option is usually $12.99. As Express shipping has been forced on us and you as the only viable option to SA & WA for the moment, to make the best of this situation we've decided to split the price difference and offer our SA & WA customers flat-rate Express shipping for only $9.99

      Morning Sidor,

Appreciate you taking the time to reach out!

Our Ethiopia CM Single Origin is exclusively available in 200g bags, so the price for 1kg would be via 5 x 200g bags = $12.75 x 5 = $63.75 pro rata per kg.

Sure thing, no stress about the grinder, it's just there for those looking to purchase their first grinder or an additional grinder, it's not a must buy if you opt to get this SO :)

        • +12

Completely appreciate the price seems high, but it's relative to the cost of production (a commercial grade wine fermentation tank setup isn't cheap), rareness and quality of the coffee. Carbonic Maceration Single Origins of this quality usually have a RRP of $150-$200+ per kg, so we think this is a real deal, but understand not everyone may feel the same. The price also reflects that each 1kg requires 5 bags, 5 labels and takes more than 5 times the time to pack as a single 1kg bag. We've decided to offer these in 200g allotments, so there's enough to go around as there's not too much available and also so people can get to try this special coffee if they'd like to without breaking the bank.

All that said, as mentioned we're not trying to change the core of what we do and this deal does feature our delicious Moments to Memories blend for $25.50 per kg :)

        • +5

If you think it's expensive don't buy it. Can't say that a business is price gouging when they're charging so little for for a delicious blend. You won't find 1kg of beans in a supermarket for much less than what they're charging for the MoM blend and at least with LBC it arrives at your door and you know it's freshly roasted.

  • +1

Thanks Tom. After the FBC 4.0 email I thought you guys might be moving to a 400g bag standard for everything. I'm glad to see this isn't the case! :)

    • +2

      Morning @djthornton appreciate the feedback!

The 400g FBC quantity increments is just a trial based on customer feedback, some unique new packaging we're trying to create and the fact that delivery companies have started rounding up e.g. if we send 1kg of coffee it means the weight is slightly over 1kg to account for packaging and the complimentary Tim Tam, we used to get charged for 1kg shipping as it was below the round up weight threshold, now for 1kg of coffee delivery companies are charging us to ship 3kg in weight. Rest assured any major change won't have in an overnight shock and customer feedback will have a significant impact on any change decisions :)

      • Good to know!! My family go through almost exactly 1kg/month so I bumped up to 1.2kg with the new increments, but I guess that means you'll still be paying the 3kg shipping rate! I'll let you know how we fare with the extra 200g/month :)

        • Perfect, sounds like a plan, look forward to hearing the feedback!

Yes, we will still be charged for 3kg shipping weight for the 1.2kg as with the other shipping weight increments e.g 500g of coffee we now get charged to ship 1kg of weight. We're going to see if there's an increment somewhere in the middle of the current ones, during our next contract negations with shipping companies. In the meantime 1.2kg is viable for the extra shipping cost to us. However, 1kg of coffee costing us 3kg in shipping adds up over time and we want to reduce shipping to customers not increase it, so we're going to keep working hard on a solution in line with our goals and needs of our customers as well :)

Has anyone tried Moments to Memories Blend before, if so any feedback?

    • +1

It's my go to. Lovely deep flavour. Can't go wrong, especially when its on special.

    • +1

Was the best coffee I'd ever had on my fully automatic coffee over 6 years. Although I mostly bought supermarket beans at the time.

  • Looking forward to trying the ECM and moments blend! Thanks Tom!

    • Wonderful, I think you're in for a real treat with that combo, thank you so much for your terrific order!!!

  • Just confirming I can't delay dispatch the SO?

It's still letting me on the website.

    • Morning @dajackal appreciate the double check!

The latest you can delay the dispatch of an order containing this special SO is towards the end of next week. Orders that don't contain this CM SO can be delayed until the last week of April, this is why you'll see available dates on the dispatch schedule calendar beyond next week :)

  • Thanks OP bought a bag of Moments to Memories to try.

    • Fantastic, thank you so much for placing your first order with us, it's truly appreciated!!!

  • Delayed ordering is great, planned out for the next couple of months.

    • Terrific, love the forward thinking as you don't want to run out of the good stuff, glad our unique scheduled/delayed dispatch system is a winner for you :)

Thank you so much for your order, it really does mean a lot to us!

  • +1

WA buyer here. Country, not metro.

Emailed Tom on Wednesday last week to ask if I could bring fwd my 9th March delayed dispatch to be sent sooner.
Immediate reply, that he'd send me out my order on Thursday, arrived Tuesday, with the express post.

    I'll be ordering again,

    • Order done for next delayed dispatch…

      • Hey @Spending2Much love a speedy delivery, really appreciate you taking the time to share that terrific feedback!

Very happy we're in your good books, we'll keep working hard to stay there :)

Thank you so much for placing another order with us, your continued orders really do mean a lot!

  • where are you based. wish i could click & collect.

    • Hey @alamodey appreciate you checking!

We're based in VIC. For a number of reasons we don't currently have a click and collect option available, predominantly because peoples scheduled understandably change (life happens) and this can mean fresh coffee is waiting to be picked up for weeks, which isn't inline with our goal of striving for dispatch within 48 business hours of roasting. However, we are going to explore options that make click and collect viable for fresh coffee :)

  • Heard such good things about Lime Blue, have now placed an order for the Ethiopian and M2M, cheers

    • +1

Music to my ears, that's wonderful feedback to receive!!!

Thank you so much for placing your first order with us (nice combo), it's truly appreciated and an opportunity we won't take for granted :)

  • Once you've had a carbonic maceration or ferment coffee you dont go back

    • Can you describe the differences?

      • +2

It basically amplifies the interesting flavours in the coffee. Fruity or floral flavours that were already there become more pronounced.

      • +1

It can be pretty ripe sometimes. If you love kombucha, you'll love it but it's not for me. Gets quite a winey flavour but I haven't tried the one in this offer.

  • I'm sure I can find general advice out there, but wondering if you had any thoughts RE freezing beans? I have access to a vacuum sealer and was considering getting some of the Ethiopian SO, but I know I won't drink all of it in time.

    • +1

I freeze single doses in 60ml jars - minimal loss in flavour overall, and tastes much better than beans left in a room temp bag for a couple weeks. I've also frozen larger amounts in Mason jars which were also fine a couple months later.

Friends call me a coffee snob FWIW.

      • +2

Hey @miicah appreciate you reaching out to check!

Vacuum sealer sure do come in handy when freezing fresh coffee. With this specific SO I'd highly recommend waiting at least a week after the roast date before freezing it. If you're going to try and vacuum seal the coffee bag we send it to you in, then I'd recommend putting the sealed bag into a zip lock bag before freezing it. If you've got your own bags that work with the vacuum sealer and don't have one-way valves the @flatwinesmoke (appreciate the answer assist :) is correct that single dosing it ideal. Understand single dosing is time consuming, so if you're too flat chat for that then I'd recommend dosing each bag with roughly what you'll use over the course of a fortnight :)

  • Just in time for another order. Love your work Tom!

    • Woohoo for perfect timing, thank you so much for placing another order with us, very happy to know we're still in your good books :) :) :)

  • Thanks for tagging me in the earlier post. I’ve ordered the Ethiopia SO to try. Never tried them but keen to pair it up with the new Timemore 078S grinder coming out later this month!

    • +1

Sure thing @Fotato it's feedback/queries like yours on our previous post which contributes to us making decisions to offer new types of products, so a follow up to let you know we now have what you were looking for previously is the least I could you to show appreciation.

Wonderful to hear you've decided to place an order with us, thank you so much, it really does mean a lot!

Excited for you about the new grinder, from what I've seen on videos it seems terrific. I especially like that you can knock out any residual grounds by spinning the chute as opposed to knocking a clip. Nothing wrong with the clip system, I just like that they've done something a bit different :)

  • Thanks Tom! Repeat customer here. Just placed an order for Ethiopia and M2M. Looking forward to some tasty coffee!

    • Fantastic @JJlikes2eat thank you so much, your continued orders are truly appreciated!!!

Nice combo choice, I think you're in for a real treat, glad you're looking forward to them :)

  • Love LB coffee, consistently good quality.
Should probably get a better thumbnail for ozb though. I nearly scrolled right on by

    • Woohoo for that complimentary feedback, so happy to know we're in your good books, we'll keep working hard to stay there!

That's terrific advice, thank you. I'm not sure if I can edit the thumbnail as the edit view of a deal posting below where the URL is added says "Link directly to the website - thumbnails will be generated automatically. Upload an image or document only if no direct link exists," but I think it's worth a bit of a search to find out :)

How does the Moments to Memories compare to the Brazil Sao Paulo SO? Been loving that blend…

The SWP decaf is great too. Does the SWP have zero caffiene? Have you thought about a half caffinated/half decaf blend? I'm actually thinking of just putting 10g of each bean to give me my coffee fix but with a bit less caffiene at times…

    • Hey @dammit great questions, appreciate you reaching out to check!

      1) In a nutshell Moments has more fruity notes and more acidic than Brazil. Brazil has more chocolate notes and a little bit less acidity. Although they are notably different to one another, they are also comparatively similar to each other, so if you "love" one I'd be astounded if you didn't also love the other one too, as they are comparably similar

      2) That's fantastic feedback to receive as well, thank you so much, I'm so glad you enjoy our fresh coffee. Our SWP Decaf isn't completely caffeine free (my understanding is all commercially viable decaf processes leave traces of caffeine), but it's fairly close, at least 99.9% of the caffeine is removed via the SWP Decaf process. Appreciate the suggestion, we have briefly pondered the thought before and also had it suggested by other customers. If enough customers request it we'll create a blend and do a test run to see how it's received :)

  • I swear I read a spiel about the SWP decaf in a previous post but can't find it.

Would you mind explaining in further detail about that process? E.g. no chemicals used ?

    • +2

Hey @orbital hmm perhaps, that does ring a bell, but I could be thinking about our EA Decaf. I know we posted a spiel about the EA Decaf we offered a while back, I'm trying to think about when we would have posted a spiel about our SWP Decaf and whether it would have been in a post or comment…

Sure thing, never hurts to ask and knowledge is good to have :)

In a nutshell, one method of extracting caffeine uses water and heat e.g. in general if you put a tea bag in boiling water for 30-60 seconds, then discard that brewed tea and pour more hot water on the same tea bag, you would have extracted the majority of the caffeine content in that first glass you discarded and can enjoy your tea in the new glass having only a third of the original caffeine level (very roughly speaking, depending on the type tea…).

The simple explanation is that SWP Decaf process uses water and closely monitors temperature to extract at least 99.9% of the caffeine from coffee. To save you having to read an essay by me I've put a link below to an infographic describing the more detailed explanation of the SWP Decaf process https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/361387/102053/swp_deca… :)

The chemical (EA-Ethanol Acetate) process I think sometimes gets a bad wrap because people understandably think chemical = unhealthy. However, from the information I've researched the EA (which is derived from the sugar industry) process is no less healthy than the water (chemical free) method. At the end of the decaffeination process the green/raw coffee has less EA than a ripe banana. Also Ethanol Acetate evaporates at around 70°c and when coffee is roasted it exceeds 200°c, which means there's no residual chemicals left from the process by the time the coffee hits your cup :)

  • I've bought from LimeBlueCoffee many times before, it's all top quality stuff. Even the Swiss Water Process Decaf is amazing.

    • Hey @GetFitWithCameron that's so wonderful to hear, thank you so much for your tremendous vote of confidence, it's truly appreciated :)

I'm wrapped to know how much you've enjoyed our fresh coffee, especially our SWP Decaf as that was one of the most challenging roast profile we've create!

  • Disappointed with my recent purchase of Brazil sao Paolo single origin. Use it for pour over and it taste flat. Sorry guys honest feedback

    • Hey @swebster thank you so much for placing our first order with us recently, it really does mean a lot and it's an opportunity we don't take for granted!

Appreciate you taking the time to provide this feedback. Complete understand that flavour preference is subjective, so there won't be a single coffee that will be everyone's perfect cup of coffee. However, the difference between delicious and mediocre can be as simple as a small extraction tweak. Before you discard what is left in the bag, it would mean a lot if you could please first email us a reply message to your order confirmation with the following info:
      1) How much you're dry dosing?
      2) How much water you're adding in total?
      3) The water temp and if filtered?
      4) Total brew time?
      5) How much water your adding for each hour and time of the pours (just roughly is fine)?
      6) A photo of the coffee bed just after extraction has finished.

Once you've sent through the info, we'll let you know if your extraction needs a tweak. I'm not questioning your brewing skills, just as I'm sure you'll appreciate different coffees extract in different ways :)

  • Joined the club and order a kilo of M2M to see how it goes.

Found my regular coffee roaster has lost some quality, so looking forward to a new taste.

If I have signed up to buy the coffee, does that mean I will get the newsletter and further discount notices or do I have to subscribe separately?

    • Hey @Public21 woohoo that's terrific to hear, thank you so much for placing your first order with us, it really does mean so much and is an opportunity we won't take for granted!

Glad you'd like to stay in the Lime Blue loop. Nice double check, it depends if the "email me with news and offers" was ticket when you checked out. If you'd like to send a reply email to your order confirmation I'll have a quick look and confirm either way for you.

Fingers crossed you love our fresh coffee :)

  • Well now i only want the Carbonic Maceration Single Origin … annnddd its gone

    • Hey @tightm8 shucks, shame you missed out, this first CM round flew out the door at lightning speed. However, I've got some good news for you :)

As this first CM processed coffee we've offered was more popular than we'd ever hoped for (which we're obsoletely thrilled about), I can confirm we'll offer another CM processed coffee again in the future. The next CM will be different to this one, but with the same level of fantastic flavour!

      • Can you also brink back the coffee subscription deal?

I think a lot of people didn't realise Surprise Mystery Flight was part of the deal including myself.

        • Hey @MagicMushroom appreciate you taking the time to reach out and I'm very happy to hear you're keen to continue your Frequent Buyers Club Membership!

Bad news is I made a bit typo in the deal email listing the deal ending on 26/3/2023, instead of the intended expiry of 26/2/2023 and didn't realise the error until I received an email from a customer recently. However, this is good news for you.

Given it was my mistake, there's continued interest, we've received emails recently with queries about the deal date and your message too, I've decided we should extend the deal until 26/3/2023 as per the typo in my deal email last month. As such, feel free to fire off your order/s now :)

Just relating to your second point. I rechecked the content of the deal email and it specifically lists "Surprise Mystery Flight (rotating Single Origin, different coffee each time there won't be a decaf, exclusive at the time of dispatch)." Purely from an communication improvement perspective as opposed to smart alec perspective, could you please elaborate as to what you mean by "I think a lot of people didn't realise Surprise Mystery Flight was part of the deal including myself?"

          • @LimeBlueCoffee: Thanks ordered mine :)

About the 2nd point, I was referring to deals like this https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/735897
I just read the title and went 'oh it's just a usual coffee subscription stuff' and wasn't interested enough to click on it and read the description. Little did I know you guys have exclusive subscription-only coffee beans on offer.

I recogn you will get a lot more attention to the surprise mystery flight if your title mentioned things like "exclusive SO", "only available via subscription", "not be available for one-time orders" or "surprise mystery flight".

            • @MagicMushroom: Wonderful @MagicMushroom thank you so much for your terrific order and joining this round of our FBC, hope you love your Mystery Flight stops!

Appreciate the clarification, now I'm on the same page as you. Always good to get a customer's perspective and I think you've potentially hit the nail on the head. I believe you've made a very helpful and valid point, thank you so much for taking the time to provide this feedback, we'll 100% take it onboard for contribution towards future wording :)
