For you perhaps. Every phone I've used in that price range, I've found inadequate. Very slow SoCs. I paid around $800 for my current phone, and I'm very happy with it.
@tanfastic: Asus ZenFone 8. It's about 16 months old so far and I only really have one complaint, which is the lack of VoWiFi on Telstra. Other than that, I love it. Not everyone wants the small size, but that's a bonus for me.
Edit: I usually replace my phone every 3-4 years, so nothing currently available is of much interest to me, as they'll be gone when I'm ready.
If you can stretch your budget I would say 600-800 is fine for a previous year flagship phone. Any phone paying 1k not worth it even iphone

The ROG 6 has a better refresh rate than the S22, bigger battery, longer battery life and up to 18% better benchmarks.
So. No. The S22 Ultra isn't better regarding performance, which is what you were going with when you added 12gb.

@luminair: nope there was a trade in bonus and also a sign up bonus, but i didn't hand in my phone and that's why it was $600 otherwise I would have said $300. it was with jb hi fi.
and yes i can. it is comparing the cheapest way to get the phone without using any trad-in value of other phone so bonus trade-in and any other bonuses can be counted if one to do a price comparison. Main reason i won't recommend to buy this phone (rog 6) if doing price comparison.

@michael9865: Well, like scuderiarmani said, you are comparing a newer phone to an older one, obviously that's going to be better, if I compare ROG 7 (when it comes out) with S23, who do you think will win? And by the way, if you just want to get the non-collab version of ROG 6, it's definitely going to be cheaper than S23 Ultra, companies pay large sums of money to be in the collab, also costs associated with that cool looking case and accessories.

My first comment was s23 ultra is better, but just because it is newer does not mean it is better just depends on the phone and we do not know if rog 7 will be better until it comes out it does have the potential to be worse. But also s23 ultra can be had for cheaper which was my main reason for the comment otherwise i would not have commented at all. If you can get something better and cheaper then that is the obvious choice.

I just haven't seen any deals, if it does get cheaper then $700 then i will buy it as that is what i am waiting for on the S23 ultra to become but I personally also like rog 6 as a phone more than s23 ultra and s22 ultra even if it is not better.

Be careful when buying Asus ROG phone. My Asus rog 3 phone died within 18 months after purchase (it was taken care of really well) and it couldn't be repaired (the repairer says it's an issue with mother board and cpu, and repairing it will require me to send it to China at exorbitant cost). There aren't any Asus phone service center in Perth that can help, so beware of this risk before buying it.
Habing said that, it was a cool phone though, but no more Asus ROG for me after that since I lost a lot of data afterwards.
Definitely a big waste of 1.5k phone which should have lasted at least 3 years (my samsung note 8 still works until now).
My motherboard died on my ROG 2 after about 18 months. I contacted Asus and they said id have to pay like $150 for them to check it. I ended up going back to where I bought it (JB HIFI) and they got everything sorted for free through Asus as it was within the 2 year expected period under Australian Consumer Law. Always buy through reputable retail stores for these kinds of items :D

I'm definitely not keen for Asus anymore though just because I don't want another case where my phone dies and the data becomes unrecoverable. I lost a lot of family pictures from that fiasco so no more Asus ROG for me.

What is the point of buying this over a Xiaomi Black Shark 5 Pro that you can get on ebay (plus) for $900? If you wanted an Android gaming phone for some reason I dunno if the ROG Phone 6 whether its the Batman edition or the regular one is worth 50% more.
As someone that owned a ROG 3 - What's the display like? The display of the 3 was absolute garbage. I'm sure the one million Hz stuff had great placebo for mobile 'gamers' - But does it do the terrible black crush still? Can't watch a video on it (ironically, one of the batman movies had a dark scene which is often used to demonstrate black crush) without any dark scene turning flat black.
