No contract but you need to buy the 3 month package with it.

    • If you have an existing number, you can port your own number to their sim package. It doesn't say on the FAQ page on that exact page, but it says here

  • this is a good deal if the battery health is above 90%

wife's is at 82% and doesn't make it till 4pm

    • +51

I don't think these are refurbs but are brand new

      • -1

doesn't mention, if new. great deal!

        • +11

if you go to the catalogue view for all phones it has brand new in the blurb for it. Plus I don't think amaysim even sell refurb

        • +18

          doesn't mention, if new

Exactly why you assume it's new.

      • That's insane cheap

    • +3

partners was same,,,, suspicously at 82 as well lol. I find the mini has problems maintaining a decent battery life

      • +11

Thats because under 80% it is a warranty job.

        • +4

It’s because it’s a very small phone with a small battery

          • @0jay: That is why they should make the phone thicker! Most people who want a phone with a small screen don't care about the thickness, so they should simply make the phone thicker and put a bigger battery in it. The battery life on my iPhone 12 Mini is awful, even though the battery health is still at 97%, I rarely make it though the day. I have started using my iPod Touch 7th gen again to help take some of the burden off my phone, which really shouldn't be necessary in this day and age.

            • @tonydarcy:

battery life on my iPhone 12 Mini is awful

Have you tried switching to 4G only?

              • @0jay: I have. The battery life is much better on 4G, so it tends to last the day, but I'm still only on around 20-30% at the end of the day and that is with using my iPod Touch whenever WiFi is available. The problem is that at home my 4G reception isn't the best (I'm with Vodafone), but I actually get pretty good 5G reception, so I'm constantly trying to work out whether the better battery life is worth the trade off of having occasional drop-outs.
I'm in a bit of an awkward position though. At my holiday house the Telstra reception is crap, but I get good 4G coverage on Vodafone/Optus, but at my house I get a good 5G/4G signal on Telstra and a good 5G signal with Vodafone/Optus, but a crappy 4G signal on Vodafone/Optus.

                • @tonydarcy:

Haha well, nice problem to have.

        • +6

Even at 100%, this phone had a below-average battery life.
would rather use a midrange with great battery life than a great phone like 12 mini with terrible battery life.
This is what I learned from buying this phone.

          • +4

@Mi2: was improved substantially when iphone 13 mini came out

    • Mine's been stuck on 83% for a while now - same as yours? I'd say … at least a year!

      • -2

82/83/90% ? dont you ever get to 100% when charging??

        • Uh how can you get to 100% battery life when your iPhone has been degrading as you charge many times?

          • @BargainsGrabber: Well I've never owned an apple phone so why would you expect people that don't own one to understand that? My phone always charges to 100%, even after years so saying it doesn't sounds weird.

By your tone, I'm guessing this is an apple only thing.

            • @Arcticfox: Sorry, I didn’t mean it to sound like that tone mate. If prankster can read what has been discussed in the comments previously above, ofc it relates to battery health

this is a good deal if the battery health is above 90%

Also it’s not an iPhone exclusive either. Samsung already has it since Android 13

              • -2

@BargainsGrabber: Yeah? Sheesh, never heard of that. My last phones were Samsung S7E, S10 and currently S21+. Have never seen them charge below 100% in my years of ownership.

Guess I must be offloading before the battery starts to go bad or something…

                Thanks for clearing that up.

                • +10

@Arcticfox: No no, you’re still getting confused. Battery health is different to battery %.

Battery health shows how old your battery has been. Let’s take my old iPhone XS Max as an example. It is currently on 78% battery health but it still can charge to 100%. It is just that the battery won’t hold its charge as long as it previously when the battery health is at 100%

                  • +5

@BargainsGrabber: Ahh ok, I get it now.

                    Thanks for clarifying.

@Arcticfox: Thanks for having a reasonable discussion and willingness to learn something. Here have a dozen downvotes for your trouble.

                    • @Arcticfox: People are so different in the way they absorb information.
It's nice that it got cleard up for you, but for me - if I didn't know already - the last post would not have clarified.

    • +8

Crazy. My Poco x3 I get 2.5 days.

You could watch 12 hours worth of videos before it went flat.

I have a freak battery. It's 12 months old and 104% battery capacity / health.

      • +2

I was getting 10 - 11 hours of actual screen on time with X3 pro which I bought for $300.
Now barely getting 6-7h with Pixel 7 pro and 3h with 12 mini.

        • What are you doing with them? Heavy gaming?
Today after taking my 12 mini off charge @5:00am and screen on 3hr43min and 2:24 screen off (audiobook) still have 43% charge @10:00pm. 22% of use today was phone calls 53 minutes. On speaker.

          • @entropysbane: Do a bit of navigation with auto brightness and see how quickly it drains.
Not everyone's work is behind the desk.
In a normal condition with wifi of course I can squeeze 4h out of it but nothing more.
            No gaming at all.

            • @Mi2: Sure, that is just what I did that day. I am actually impressed how well it does given its small size. The 13 mini would be even better though.

      • Out of curiosity, did you fully charge your phone before you ever used it?

        • Always. I think most manufacturers recommend this.

Less wear cycles the more you charge from 80 to 100%

          For my battery anyway.

Honestly CBF, I just charge it overnight 60% to full or the next night if I forget, which could be like 1 or 20%

          Depends on battery chemistry.

Back in the day I always nearly fully drained my old MacBook and charged back to 100%.

That worked very well at the end of my degree still had like 70% capacity while others in my cohort had pretty much 0.

iphone batteries are generally not great. My $350 Xiaomi far outlasts the iphones the rest of my family own. We were on holiday the other week and they were down to single digits on several occasions while I had over 50% left.

      • +2

The battery on my Huawei 20 pro is still going strong after close to 3 years

      • In my experience it seems to have little to do with batteries themselves.

Every Xiaomi that I have owned or used has had super aggressive power management .

Ultimately always the reason I move away from them. It's very annoying trying to set it up so apps don't get sut down in background and notification come through. This is paired with aggressive RAM management which makes switching between apps slow, and often when switching between apps the half filled forms and message replies get cleared because apps get reloaded.
        Absolutely frustrating 😤

Perfect passdown to my parents though. All they want is make calls and snap an occasional photo and have a decent battery life.

    • Can buy 2 at this price, then swap the SIM when the battery is low.

  • -2

Is this like brand new or refurb?

    • +4

Looking at the all phones grid display page it clearly states brand new phone

  • +2

this is a bloody good deal. Phone+3month plan is only $400

  • +27

$24 extra for the 128GB variant seems better value.

    • +11

256 is best value, especially on the 2nd hand market when you want to sell

  • +2

    I'm not seeing those prices.

    Reloaded: now I do.

  • THe price is not list as $400

    • +2

      64GB phone + plan = $400

    • You need to add a prepaid plan. Minimum plan is $125

  • Would be great if someone can confirm if this this is refurb or brand new phone

    • +7

If it doesn't say, it's fairly safe to assume it's a new phone.

    • +2

I think its brand new based on the description on it when you click to view all available phones it has Brand New.

  • +5

Perhaps a price error? It shows $549 for me just for the phone. The terms and conditions also state:

    Eligible Customers will be able to purchase the 12 mini 128GB 5G for $599, the 12 mini 256GB 5G for $699, or the 12 mini 64GB 5G for $549.

    • +1

you need to add a plan and it shows the price change once you get further into the cart, just tested it

      • I did that and it comes up tp $824?

        • it shows it once you get to the add address and payment for me.

        • +3

          keep going

      • +3

I did add a plan, still shows the old higher price and the old terms and conditions.

But you are right, once you go through to the checkout it has the lower price and the new terms and conditions.

They need to update the product page!

        • +1

Sounds like you're experiencing a caching issue. Try a force refresh?

Show the lower price for me everywhere on their website. Tested on other devices and also seeing the lower price only.

          • @HomeAlone: Weird, I tried on different devices/browsers too.

But regardless, it shows the correct price for me now.

    • Wrong T&Cs.

      New offer just started today.

      https://www.amaysim.com.au/content/dam/amaysim/documents/ter…

    • Also try the link i placed in the deal

      • Yep, the product page seems to be updated now and has the new price. Good find OP!

  • This or refurb iPhone SE 2020 @$279 from Amazon. Please advise

    • +7

IF you want better camera and okay with slight smaller phone size and have the budget, this is much better option imo

    • +1

Definitely this. I bought the new SE then this when it came out. Very happy, faster than SE, slightly bigger screen but smaller phone. Just need to get used to face ID, which isn't too much issue now that masks are not required.

      • +1

What’s your thoughts on battery on these? Have read lot of comments about battery not lasting.

        • +1

It lasts a day for me usually with two SIMs. I tend to treat my phone as a phone though, ie use it for text/call mainly, plus navigation. The battery life is definitely not great compare to say Xiaomi phones.

        • +2

It is right in the middle between an iPhone SE and a standard iPhone 12 for battery life. Which is what you expect for its size.
You only really get multi day life out of huge phones with space for huge batteries.

I get a day comfortably out of my 12 mini, now down to 84% capacity after 27 months of daily use.

  • +3

Damn, that's good. Hoping they do something similar for the 13 once the 15 comes out.

    • But in the 14 line up we didn’t get a mini.

      • +2

but in the 13 line there is a mini

  • +4

always wanted a red iphone, bought one thank you

    • I always wanted a blue iPhone, so I bought an blue iPhone 12 Mini to replace my red iPhone 12 Mini. Even though it is stupid to replace a phone just for the colour, it was just so cheap that I couldn't resist. I was able to justify it to myself by saying I should be able to sell my red iPhone 12 Mini for more than I paid for this one anyway.

  • It's not just me is it?
You could flip these and make $100 pretty easy on the used market!

    • +30

The pain of dealing with buyers and scammers is not worth $100.

      • Not to you or me maybe, but wow, it just highlights how much this is an incredible deal if you're in the iOS ecosystem and in need of an upgrade.

    • Yep. I bought myself a new iPhone 12 Mini though this deal and should be able to sell my old iPhone 12 Mini for around $450-550. Now I finally get paid to upgrade to one with the colour and capacity that I want, plus I also get a new battery again, which is another huge plus!

  • +1

manifesting this type of energy for the non mini iphone 12 🙏🙏

  • If you choose to port your number can you choose to not activate it for a month or 2? Or does it take place instantly

    Thanks

    • I would also like to know this. Just purchased with the intent to transfer number (They automatically suggested eSim). My current number is showing up in my Amaysim account with a link to activate. Would be awesome if we can at least activate within 30 days.

      • I just did it, cause I was already with amaysim it basically just acted like a recharge and happened instantly, however my recharge had already expired

    • +2

I called up, the customer rep said that you could activate within 30 days no problem…I didn't want to push it further :P

    • If I'm not wrong the amyasims come activated when they are delivered

  • is this phone locked to amaysim only?

Available from 12.01am (AEDT) on 07 February 2023 while stocks last

it's only for today really tempted to buy

  • -2

    Are these locked ?

  • Mobile monster will give you $400 for the 64gb

  • Insane deal given you can resell these for at least $100 more. Basically a free phone service and hundred bucks

    • +6

May not be the case anymore when everyone buy this deal
