  • +2

uhhh idk if i should get this or pay $300 more for the pixel 7

  • +1

So what happens after the 3 months prepaid? Does it auto renew or can I just cancel the prepaid plan?

    • +1

Yes it has auto renew turned on, I have just turned it off in the app

  • Prices back to normal

    • +1

Think the website is bugging out

      try refreshing

    • It discounts toward the end of the checkout process.

  • +1

How long will it take for the phone to come ?

  • +5

The 128gb has $430 trade in value at officeworks (didn't check Samsung and jbhifi) to then get the bonus $300 trade in for s23 ultra..

  • +2

Is the iphone 12 mini only available with single sim slot with esim capability? Not dual physical sim?

    • +2

      Correct

  • Thanks OP, someone at work wants a small phone and this fits the bill neatly. I'd simply chuck the prepaid service out and stick a Telstra SIM into it. Strike that, looks like it only comes with an eSIM so it will activate the service anyway as soon as it connects to a network.

    • Is that really how it works? I thought eSim just means it gives you a QR code to scan when activating the phone.

      • Possibly, I've only ever activated an eSIM once before and it was active once the phone connected. I will note that was done through a service provider my company works with so it's possible they did all the fiddly stuff in the background.

        • I've used eSim quite a lot across various providers and they all involve either being given some kind of QR code or link to scan using the phone camera to then download/activate (hence why you need wifi access to activate), or it's built into an app as a link to a downloadable sim. I suspect in your case someone did the setup process for you.

    • you can get eSIM for telstra service as well. Both pre paid and post paid

  • Bloody hell great deal

  • just bought one, confirmed with an order number

  • Insane deal bought one anyway

  • +2

incredible deal, just wish it wasn't so small!

    • i'm glad it's a small phone. going from a 1st gen iphone se to this will be painless

    • thats the whole point of buying that phone.

      • i mean, yeah, of course, im just saying id appreciate a similar deal on a phone that wasnt so small

  • So this comes with a physical SIM card?

    • When I checked out, it was eSIM only

    • Don't think it's an option. At least on this deal.

    • I can also confirm it's eSIM only.

      • +1

        Nope. Bought with physical sim

    • +1

the package come with a physical Sim delivered.
you need to activate the eSim then you can transfer the eSim over to the physical sim.
info given by Amaysim customer service.

  • Anyone with max costs?

  • +1

    battery is very bad

    • +2

      of course, its a crime!

  • which provider do they use? optus/voda/telstra?

    • +1

      Optus

    • +16

Optus. No need to quote DL number or DOB, that's all prefilled for you.

      • DL?

        • +1

          Driver's Licence

        • Driver's license. referring to Optus data breach :p

          • @dealhunting007: Which is maybe why this is restricted to Debiit/Credit card holders and they clearly state this is for identification purpose and not held in their system, but tokenised.

And if you were/are with medibank/ahm, your medicare card details are prefilled to verify your identity for your convenience

  • Hot damn!

Can the starter pack be resold?

    • it's eSIM only so probably not.

      • +1

It's giving me the option of a physical SIM - but I suppose it will be pre-registered to me.

        • Can you select physical sim? That option is greyed out for me.

        • You can’t select the other option

  • What's the go with eSIM? I want to use my current SIM in this but does that mean I'll have two services on the phone?

    • Yes, you can have two services on the iPhone 12 mini (and switch between them). Otherwise, you can choose to activate the eSIM on another phone.

      • Oh cool so I can put my existing SIM in this 12 mini and the eSIM into my older phone?

      • whats the point of an eSim or benefits of it? i mean sounds like you need to switch to the physical sim or eSim so can't use both at the same time so then whats the point?

  • +1

IS this a good upgrade from an iphone 8 plus? What size screen is the mini vs the 8?

    • Just ordered a blue 256. I'm also upgrading from iphone 8 plus. Checked the specs, screen is a bit smaller 5.5" vs 5.4" but everything else is an upgrade (except no touch ID which I am addicted to).

    • +1

look at apple website and compare my friend lol

    • +1

i got 12 mini and like it for what I want. I went from a 8, to 8plus (wife’s old one which had more storage), to 12 mini on a jb outright deal mid last year. I’m not a fan of a big phone having to carry it around in pocket most of the day. The extra screen space and speed big upgrade over the 8. Sure battery will mean plugging in each night but works for me. If you like the 8 size for this deal you can’t go wrong.

I did grab a blue 256 mainly to get off Telstra so I can rejoin again for one of their ~$500-$700 gift card deals as I’m not in contract. May end up keeping the blue though and sell my white.

  • +4

Didn’t need one but got it anyway.

  • +1

    Thanks OP.. Got one !

    You're a superstar

Party is over not able to checkout ,price changed aswell

    • it's still there, click all the way through

site is getting hammered now though

  • +2

Can you just remove the esim and use your own plan?

    • +5

You need a soldering iron as the esim is INSIDE the phone.

      (nb zoolander)

  • is this also has a nano sim? or only esim ?
    https://www.ithinkdiff.com/iphone-12-dual-sim-esim/#:~:text=….

    • +1

I have asked in the past. It comes set up with e sim but it also comes with a SIM card. So you can set it up to use the physical SIM card, and once you have set up with the SIM card, you can remove the SIM card, and add your new SIM card. This is a bargain!

      • I'm also hoping I can just run this with any of my other SIMS, and download the e-sim to an add-in physical e-sim on my Realme as I suspect Optus 5G isn't that brilliant at my address.

      • so the phone is unlocked right?

  • -1

Thanks OP just snagged one I hope it’s brand new otherwise rip 😂😂😂

  • -1

is the phone new or a refurb?

    • +2

      Is it a phone?

  • +14

    Asked support.

    1 sim slot
    Brand new
    Unlocked

    • legend!

  • Nice one, however getting to the "automatically renew" toggle doesn't seem possible in a desktop setting. Still I've three months to sort that out.

A bigger bitch is why every time I change pages when logged in I keep have to go through the 2FA crap again…

  • Website is sooo slow!

    • +4

I imagine it's being Ozbargained to hell and back…

      • "This is the way"

  • Anyone know if esim on this iphone with work overseas with other carriers ? Any potential issues ? eg. retain existing local esim and add overseas esim ??

  • +1

You’re making me buy a new phone

Six years of updates on a model from 2020 means that it probably won’t be very usable in 2026.

As you can see in the table, buying iPhones from a few years ago is a waste of money.

    • You kind of have to look at the base hardware and more specifically the RAM. I could imagine this being supported upto 2027 as it essentially has the same RAM level as the 13 (4gb). Apple are pretty good at supporting devices for a long time, and I think the main issue that stops their support is when there isn't enough memory.

    • +2

The article doesn't factor the cheaper price of this deal

      iPhone SE 2022 64Gb $719= $11.98/month across 5 more years
      iphone 12 mini 64Gb $400 = $11.11/month across 3 more years

    • +1

I'm still happily using an iphone 6S, which was released September 2015. The only real issue with the phone is battery life, and slower performance in battery-saving mode.

  • Cheapest iPhone!

  • so if you are already on a month to month no lock in with optus do you just cancel it.. port over and then sign up again to optus after 3 months?

    • What's so tempting in Optus that you'd like to pay Optus instead?

And to answer you question - you just provide your current phone number to transfer to Amaysim and they take care of the rest, no need to cancel at the current provider.

      • its for my parents who have everything with optus lol

  • +4

    Got a 128GB green. Even though I already have a 14 Pro Max…

The deal was too good to pass up. Can use it as backup or spare phone :)

I swear OzB makes me poorer every time I log onto here….

    • Gotta zzz more man

    • +3

How are you poor when you have 14promax!

  • +5

Damn, here RBA is raising interest rates and here amaysim is tempting me with this offer.

  • Good deal

  • anyone else stuck at payment processing?

    • yep. tried 2 cards so far and it won't take it

    • I tried desktop and it won't load or is very slow.

Jumped onto mobile and order went through smoothly.
