Imaging holding a 3kg item on a single hand for 1 hour… mmm, good for muscles development!

    • +9

For me, it’s holding the trigger for one hour that I find annoying

      • +6

Get this trigger lock, works well on my v7.
        https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/304724348327?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mk…

        • Nice. Which model did you choose? There are 4 options

          • +1

@Kanjus: Did you read what those 4 options were? Hint, they’re not different models.

            • @PainToad: So whats the difference between the grey and red lock? Assuming you didn't replace the trigger assembly… i was just asking which was better. Jeez

              • @Kanjus:

whats the difference between the grey and red lock?

One is red and one is grey?

          • +1

@Kanjus: Get the red or grey trigger lock, both are the same, I got the grey one as it match my dyson colour.

        • Real bargain right here! Never even thought to lookup a way to keep the trigger held down!

          Thanks!

EDIT: Should add that the lock is $2.98 shipped (slowly, but hey!)

For reference, if I remember (it's been yonks) internal figures correctly the average vacuum time for Australian homes at 28 minutes. That's time running the vacuum as opposed to total time cleaning and rearranging furniture etc. The battery on carpets on medium will be approx 35 minutes or so.

Thank gosh there's plenty of choice on the market between barrels, uprights, sticks and robots, as you point out 3KG isn't suitable for all.

    • +13

Unless you hover your vacuum above the ground the whole time, you won't be holding it for an hour. Pushing something is much easier

      • +2

        Exactly.
I find V10 much much easier to move around compared to the old DC54.

    • +8

You've either never vacuumed before or are just that dumb. Probably both.

    • +2

Not sure why you are being down-voted, it's a valid comment. I have the old V6 slim which is only 2kg, but whenever I use my partner's V11, that extra 1kg is a very noticeable difference and I find my arm gets sore after only a few minutes (which it never does with my V6). Not sure why Dyson can't come up with a vacuum that has the bin capacity of the V11, but the weight of the V6 or V12. That would be ideal.

      • That would require it being under powered or having a shorter battery life. The more powerful it is, the bigger and heavier the battery must be unfortunately.
If the V12 at least had the same capacity as the V8 it would be much more popular though.

      • +1

Just tried the V11 and it's definitely heavier and much bigger than I'd like.

Wife is petite and the weight & height of the dyson makes it quite difficult to use.

  • +1

If you don't need/want the stand Dyson has it (with gold wand) on their website for same price with some other bundled attachments: https://www.dyson.com.au/dyson-v11-vacuum-exclusive?gclid=Cj…

Or you can spend $210 more and get the V15 detect absolute for $1098: https://www.dyson.com.au/dyson-v15-detect-absolute (again without stand)

    • +1

You also get choice of $100 Visa card or direct transfer via redemption when purchasing through TGG using their “realca$h program” For reference

      • ooo I didn't see that when I first commented… GG definitely a better deal for the V8 + stand then. noice

  • +2

Feels like V10 vs V11 are pretty close in performance, while V11 vs V15 has a big jump
IMO better wait for another V10 promo to reach at sub $650 mark
(Was as low as $629 back in Dec 2022) https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/748224

For the bonus stand, unless you need a Dyson genuine one
otherwise probably not too hard to find a 3rd party one for around ~$30

    • +1

I have to disagree, as someone who has a V11 and my brother got a V10 the extra power and larger battery are MUCH better. Note that the V10 battery is only 58Wh and screwed in vs the V11 91Wh and click in/hot swappable.
The result of this is that the V11 battery lasts much longer in lifespan before requiring replacement. I still get original battery life whilst my brother has had to replace his battery already.
Also, if you can get your hands on the digital Motorbar for V15, the V11 gains DLS and goes from 185AW to 220AW, very close to V15’s 230AW.
I hope this provides context for your benefit.

Miele C3 is made in Germany.

Not to be confused with the Miele Compact C1 which is made in China. (Good Guys listed one) It used to be on sale last year for $169.

    China - Dongguan factory
Established in 1996 as a joint venture with Melitta, the Dongguan plant has been fully owned by the Miele Group since 2009. Currently Miele produces the Swing H1, Compact C1, Compact C2 and Complete C2 vacuum cleaners here. This includes, for example, the production of plastic components through in-house injection moulding as well as assembly. As with vacuum cleaners from the Bielefeld factory, all motors come from Miele in Euskirchen. Approx. 330 employees manufacture about 500,000 vacuum cleaners per year at the Dongguan factory.

    • i prefer battery. don't need the hassle of the cords when cleaning is already a hassle

      • Battery / charge level is a hassle if you have a bigger house

Says you also get $100 realcash

You’ll have to make sure to redeem that using your receipt from TGG. I believe it’s a store credit

  • This or Samsung Bespoke Jet Pro Extra Stick Vacuum for $999?

    https://www.appliancesonline.com.au/product/samsung-bespoke-…

  • Hi OP, you can get it for $878 by price beat. But it uses a voucher. wonder it would impact the $100 real cash t&c's. which says has to be full ticketed item without any discount codes..

    • you can't stack, it removes the free Dok stand.

      • do you mean you only get the dok or the $100 cashback?

        • if you use the price beat $878, it applies it via a coupon which removes the coupon that discounts the free dok

The $100 cashback is a different thing and I don't see any issue claiming since the invoice shows the full $888

I currently own 2 dyson v7 models with all attachments (motor head, fluffy roller + lot of others) which costed me less than $60 in total thanks to marketplace. Apparently people are just throwing them away when it goes beyond warranty period and not wanting to spend $ on servicing.

    • what did you replace/fix?

      • +1

One of them replaced dead battery with dewalt adapter (I have few dewalt batteries in hand so I can hot swap with ease). Other one nothing much and had decent battery. Both of them required rigorous cleaning of the motor heads and the filtration system which I was happy to do.

        • +1

what's worse than your own gunk? other people's gunk :(

    • I was wondering if battery packs can be refreshed with standard 18650 batteries

  • In terms of max suction, what exactly does "262AW" mean? How many bowling balls is that?

    • +1

AW refers to Air Watts, which are a European test standard (IEC60312) for vacuums
Air wattage = Sealed suction (inches of H2O) x Airflow (CFM) x 0.117254

      There's a quick guide here: https://webstore.iec.ch/p-preview/info_iec60312-1%7Bed1.1%7D…
Unfortunately the full version costs a few $…

However, I have a V8 vacuum with 115 and it already sticks to some surfaces a little too much when in full power mode…

The key, however, to vacuums is also the head, because suction alone is just one piece of the puzzle, but the agitation provided with the bristles makes it work much better.

I can't help with the mathematics of how many bowling balls can stick to the end, but I can tell you that an olympic-sized pool can hold 750,000 balls

    • +2

My old corded dc54 was rated as 1300W and 290AW for suction. But the carpet head uses the suction to “power”/rotate it, so there is loss of suction there.
262AW + motorized carpet head must is a real monster!

  • Price is now $997

  • definitely recommend trying in-store, the 3kg weight, and overall length may not be suitable for everyone, particularly smaller people.
