OP - how do I get a custom quote for a double garage?

    • Hi, you can email us at [email protected]

    • +1

For a standard double garage we usually recommend 240 tiles. 225 to cover exactly 36m2 and another 15 for overage. Add to this 16 edge ramps. You're total price would be around $2,200 delivered or add shipping to WA/NT (if applicable).

If you can provide exact measurements, less tiles may be required bringing your price down and/or removing the need for overage.

  • +5

Not to take away from the OP as I'm sure the tiles are really good and worth the money, but just a link if you are after the cheap version of garage floor tiles which honestly are not easy to put together as I did but am still generally happy with. This one is about $2.16 per tile in a box of 55 but are smaller tiles. Other styles also. I have no affiliation with the site but bought these for my garage which has been still good after a year. If I had the money I would get the OP tiles as they're better. https://m.vevor.com.au/interlocking-rubber-tiles-c_11196/vev…

    • How can you be sure that “the tiles are really good and worth the money”?!

      • Let's just say I did a lot of research (too much) when I was going through the process of buying my tiles, and the OP tiles look to be the professional garage tiles versus my cheap version. But for me it came down to the money.

        • could you please tell me why you chose tiles over epoxy or similar?

          • +1

@191919: The epoxy seemed too much trouble for me as I would have the garage out of action for too long for the preparation and drying time, etc. The tiles I could just move things over from one side of the garage to the other when I placed the tiles down. Each to their own. Also, I seem to live in a very dusty area near a nature reserve so my floor gets really dusty so the dust can just fall down the gaps. And once or twice a year I do a vacuum of the garage floor instead of more frequently. That's been a great benefit

            • @revhedted: thanks for the great reply i really appreciate it! :)

Not suitable for driving cars over according to the seller. Scroll down to read the Q&A.

      Questions
Can these be used in a garage and a car drive over them…?
      Answer
      No, this can't.

      • Been over a year for me and it's still fine. But I know it won't last as long.

  • +2

But like, what happens if you are working on your car in your garage and drop a small bolt or washer or something? Is it gone forever? Also what about jacking and axle stands on these tiles?

    • The tiles usually can be pulled apart again and reattached. Not 100% sure of jacks and axle stands as I don't do that in the garage but I've seen examples of wooden planks put down first.

    • The tiles can be easily pulled up from any spot. No need to pull up entire rows unlike other similar floors. You just need a hook-like tool to grab a corner and pull it up.

Jacks and stands, absolutely. These tiles are widely used in motorsports pits, detailing shops and workshops. We recommend placing a small wooden plank underneath to evenly distribute the weight and avoid scratching your custom floor.

For comparison I'd say all up my epoxy flooring job cost me $50/m2 - would have been cheaper for sure since the cost of the concrete grinder was going to be (mostly) the same regardless of m2. That's grinding, patching, painting, extra chips, and polyurethane top coat

    • thanks, that sounds much better than a few old overpriced bits of plastic i'd have to install myself

    • $50/m2 is pretty reasonable I think. Did you epoxy it yourself? How much was the concrete grinder?

      • Yes i did it myself, pretty easy actually though i was nervous haha
The grinder was about $400 for the weekend, including the dust vac
Epoxy + flakes + top coat were about $400 too i think? Maybe add $50 for misc

        Its come up a treat

I dont plan to drive car on it (its for woodwork and diy only because its really too small)

    • This is an interesting comparison. Tiles offer a number of benefits over epoxy:

      • Don't flake or peel
      • No fumes or chemical smell
      • No grinding required so no dust hazard
      • Tiles have a 10 year+ life easily
      • You can take the floor apart and take it with you when you move
      • Simply click together in to place in a couple of hours
      • Epoxy is very messy to say the least and has a 'hard' foot feel. These tiles are the much preferred option for detailers and workshops because they are 'softer' and yet more durable than paint or epoxy over concrete
      • Speaking personally, epoxy and paint do and will peel. Just a matter of when. Unless off course your installer can guarantee it.
      • You also have to worry about hot tyre pick up with epoxy or paint
      • With these tiles you can custom create patterns and switch them over as you like
      • Our tiles are used widely by car enthusiasts to make unique spaces for their machines

Generally, these tiles are a much superior product to plain epoxy or paint, intended mainly for enthusiasts and professionals. Just search on YouTube and you can learn all about the product. We will be launching our own YouTube channel as well soon.

      • +1

After paying for grinding and epoxy then experiencing hot tyre pick-up after rain I'll go with the tile option in future. Once I save up of course!

      • +1

Sure these prevent hard foot feel, but as an enthusiast I wouldn't lay any sort of open tile in a working garage without sealing the concrete first. I take it you've never spilt coolant, brake fluid, engine oil or the worst - old diff oil?

I sealed with a water based epoxy undercoat and hybrid polyurethane top coat including silica grip for less than $15/m2. It's the stuff used in multi-storey carparks like at the airport; hard wearing and easy to recoat areas that see extra wear. Also no need to grind if you've got fresh concrete. Everyone who's seen it thinks its great.

"Free delivery to locations except WA and NT"

    Pfffft

    • We can always work out the best deal for you, simply email us at [email protected] with details. Just not possible to offer free delivery to those states with the 'deals' (we) OzBargainers rightly expect.

  • Do roll carts move easily on these ? Or wheelie chairs ?

    • +1

Not suitable for castors as they can cause damage to the surface finish.

    • I use my wheelie chair on my cheap tiles no problems. I guess I don't care as much to the surface finish.

  • Is it good for Outdoor kids play area as fall protection rubber mats?

    • We have seen these tiles used for kids areas around the world. However they do not form a soft, cushion-like surface similar to rubber. The resulting surface will be firm.

  • Heavy rubber mats from Bunnings are about $30 per m² and they are supposed to lock together.

  • Would these make good flooring for a home gym?

    • Yes, these are great for a home gym, Extremely durable and stylish with a much better foot feel than plain concrete. Also not like thin rubber flooring options. You can create a much more inviting space than dull black.

  • What's the problem with the concrete floor in my garage? Genuine question, why would I tile it?

  • I am in the market, seems like there's a few companies offering similar looking tiles these days, OP - how does yours differ from the others that keep coming up in my ads, Flexico, Flexspec etc, or is it basically the same thing that has been rebadged :) I hadn't come across your product/store before this post. Thanks.

I can't comment specifically on any other brand. This is what I can tell you:

      • Our tiles are made from 100% virgin polypropylene guaranteed with no fillers or waste. This also makes them readily recyclable as well.
      • Some tiles on the market are made from waste recycled material so they are not as strong. They also have a less attractive appearance and finish
      • Our tiles also don't have ugly injection marks on the surface so it gives off a much more cleaner look
      • Overall the finish is far superior to other tiles on the market and you can immediately see and feel it.
      • We also have a clearly laid out warranty policy on our website
      • Competition is great. Grows the pie for everyone. However a certain brand shamelessy rips off everything we do (just look at the packaging) and their website seems to be riddled with fake reviews. They don't seem to be a registered business either with no ABN or business name to be found with ASIC. I could go and on. So it is a bit of a wild west out there.
      • We don't engage in fakery of any sort nor plan to so I will leave you to judge.
      • The product price we have listed is quite unsustainable given the high sourcing costs involved with a high quality product. It really is a once-off special so I would urge anyone interested to jump on this as this will go well above the $10 mark as soon as our pre-order allocation is exhausted.
      • Shame it expired, hadn't gotten around to it. Oh well next time!

        • Flex spec is actually on sale for 8.95 at the moment. Not as cheap as OPs expired deal sadly but not too bad.

  • We contacted Flexico who has been in the industry for awhile (based on what I can see) and they told us about your company "They sell a rip off version of ours. Ours comes out of America and there’s comes out of China I believe so the plastic doesn’t last as long"

    Just a few questions:

Are your tiles made in China?
It seems like all your products are on preorder and your website is fairly new so you've never actually really sold these yet and never really tested them long term, so you don't know how long they're really going to last and you're just basing your assumptions on what your manufacturer in China told you?
I've dealt with some manufacturers in China in the past and they do send you good samples, but once you order a large quantity they cheapen the product.

My main concern is that I've seen new companies like this offer warranty but in a few years time they're no longer around to fix it. They come in and sell a heap of product at a lower price and attach warranty with it then after a few years they're gone and you're just stuck.

    Just my 2 cents

    • -1

That's not very nice of them to say lol. Off course Flexico will be offended when they are selling $14 per tile banking on the fact that it is made in the US!

You can pay $3,360 for a double garage with them or $2,112 with us based on this deal (which has now ended by the way as we have exhausted our pre-order allocation). That's $1,248 extra for skepticism and assumption that US-made somehow automatically means superior.

Our product comes from factories who have been supplying the much more discerning European market well before the Americans copied them. The same tiles we sell are widely used by major car brands and motorsports teams across Europe where this type of product is much more prevalent compared to the Australian market.

If you want to spend around $3.5k for a garage and the brand cred matters to you, you can spend more to support their fancy marketing. But for many many others who want a stylish and durable garage at a price point much closer to epoxy or paint, we offer a great option that never existed before.

Mind you, we still believe our product is far superior both in appearance and durability. You just need to hold the 2 side by side and it becomes immediately apparent. No ugly injection marks on the surface like those on cheap plastic toys. A much more solid product and it weighs more as well due to the increased plastic content.

      • Yes but the difference is that Swisstrax have been in the industry for years and they manufacture their own tiles and have a name/reputation that they're beholden to. You don't manufacture your own tiles, you just start a company up and bulk order from China add your markup price (hoping the Chinese manufacturer won't cut costs on materials) which usually always ends up happening, may not even be right away but it will happen. And the problem is with this kind of product you won't notice it until the real test, which is through real time and real usage.

Then when people come out at the same time complaining their tiles breaking and cracking, rather than replacing them you just close shop. I do feel worried for anyone that did preorder because you haven't been selling these for long enough to really really know. I did a lookup of your business and you had another business before called Telco Guide (which the website now seems to now be shut down from what I can see). From the looks of it you were selling handsets on there (most likely with some sort of warranty) but you've now shut it down. This is exactly my point.

Also I don't understand your point in that comment. I'm allowed to make an account on here and comment on something, what's so wrong with that? I'm looking for garage flooring myself and been doing my research and came across this and also contacted other suppliers and most others haven't heard of you and those actually did just told me that you are selling cheaper Chinese made, it's that simple so that's why I'm asking where yours is made. So I made an account and commented on this. I don't think there's anything really wrong with that.
