But a cheap electric mower for around $100 from bunnings is better.

From the start to the end of the video, there is no action about the mower.

      Agree!
I still don't get it what makes the push mower so expensive, when you still have to work hard for that price.

    • Hi superforever,
The biggest benefit of a momentum push mower is you don't need a cord. It is the best reviewed push mower in the world. Watch both the videos to see why it is so good. As a bonus, it's a pleasant way to go for a walk and be environmentally responsible at the same time as mowing the lawn! Get fit, and do your chores!

      • They may be the best push mower but you will find it very hard if you don't have time and have to mow your lawn after several months.

        • my old man had one and as "easy" as they are to use, if the grass is longer than say 10cms it gets really hard to use.
it just sits in the backyard and nobody touches it

In which case a Bosch 34Li cordless mower for only $40 more would be way better than this.

I'm pretty sure you're missing a decimal point somewhere.

can't believe who will buy a Hand Push Lawn Mower for $300, a 4 stroke petrol one is only $245 on Kmart

    • +2

who will buy a Hand Push Lawn Mower for $300

Who, you ask? Tree-hugging hippies, that's who! :p

      • +1

hippies are probably more of a tight arse than the rest of us.

        • +2

Yeah hippies would probably form a lawnmowing collective and buy one mower between 20 families. Maybe that's why its so expensive. I had a couple of hippies pinch 2 lemons from my tree the other day. I would have chased them down but I was too busy laughing at their attire, let's just say stereotypes exist for a reason.

        • +1

Hippies don't cut grass, they smoke it.

        • you made my day :D

Doesnt cut properlyy on this videO, go bak n forwRd many times to properly cut a spot

    • Looks like a toy for kids!

    • Nice spelling of "loan mower" at the end of the vid there..

  • +1

Really???? More than $300 for push mower? Eco-friendly or not… this is not bargain at all!

    Big minus

  • +2

I have a push mower and they are not very good, you do have to keep going back and forward and they clogged and any little ditch makes you come to a halt. I dont see why its $300 I saw a push mower $80 in bunnings.

I only use my push mower for a bit of hard exercise, with the power mower your still pushing and walking but with a pusher mower its hard work.

I pay $30 for a man to come cut my lawn.

  • $298 to hand push!!! lol! you can buy a petrol mower for less than that!

    • Indeed. Will this thing ever pay itself off?

      • +2

2 and half years judging by kwaker's bill from his lawnmower

  • +4

If I bought one of these my grass would surely grow tall enough to hide a troll in it.

I think MOST of the above comments are completely missing the point or are personal opinions that matter little when rating this bargain.

There are headphones for sale here (http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/76116) that are almost $300. I can get a pair of $2 headphones that may not be the same quality but certainly do the same job but that doesn't mean these headphones aren't a bargain compared to the SAME headphones from a different retailer!

I could also argue that all of the soft drink / alcohol related "bargains" that are listed here are NOT bargains instead of drinking water from the tap!

This mower is the cheapest one listed of its brand I could find - therefore compare to the same product it is a bargain.

Also there are almost no further running costs with a push mower. With the way that petrol and electricity prices are headed, this will pay for itself soon enough.

PLUS - imagine the serenity of a Sunday morning if everyone in your neighbourhood had one of these instead of their blaring 2-strokes!

I think the catch is that it doesnt work as well as a petrol one. And its more expensive.

Which means there's really no justification unless you happen to love manual labour.

    • +2

Using the headphones as examples, this 'headphone' costs you $300, but only deliver you a $2 worth sound quality

    • other than fuel and clogging issues, its important to keep push mowers in good condition too, all of which just makes a petrol mower all the more attractive

  • What happens to the trimmings.. My dog will just eat all the trimmings and start regurgitating in the house

  • +2

I honestly don't know whether this is any better than the old $100 push mowers from Bunnings et al. to make it worth 3x the price! The cheap ones I've used all seem to work as well as; or better than; the one in the youtube clip when they're new.

I've had a few over the years, great for small lawns if you mow at least weekly & want a bit of exercise, but unless you pay serious attention to sharpening the blades the 'progressive resistance' of the exercise increases pretty much as exponentially as the inverse coefficient of the decreased cutting efficiency! ;)

I do know that Aldi has a pretty swish looking B&S engined, self-propelled mulching mower in their current cattledog starting this Saturday for $379, which would make mowing even easier! :)

    • +1

I would hope that for the money your at least getting better quality steel in the blades that will stay sharp for longer, but having said that you could buy 3 x $100 ones that would probably last as long.

  • +2

I wish I lived in a townhouse with a cute little patch of lawn (no kikuyu) out the back so I could use this.

No, actually I'd prefer artificial grass.

    • artifical grass sucks. it's such a poor alternative to real grass

      • especially when you got real weed growing out of artificial grass patches, such as my next door!

  • +2

My only advise is never to get a push mower. They are hopeless when the grass is long, or when the land is not perfectly flat, or when you need to navigate around bushes/trees/light poles etc.

  • +2

60% easier to push??? How do you measure that???? My self propelled Honda would surley be easier than this

  • it is perfect lawnmower if you are treehugger…… or there is no petrol station 1000 miles around where you live. … and with 60% less resistance it is easy on your knees.

  • +2

You really shouldn't be negging this based on your personal opinion that an electric or petrol mower is better. Having said that though, the sales pitch is almost deserving of them.

The fact is, for some people this type of mower is preferable - they're the only ones that this is even vaguely likely to be a bargain for. These type of mowers are only good if your lawn is perfectly flat (preferably tiny lol) and if you mow it all the time - like in 2 or 3 times a week. If that's not you, then there's really nothing to see here.

as ozbargainer, you should not spend $300 on a Hand Push Lawn Mower, it is too luxury
