I didn't buy the colored one because I am afraid that the paint will fall off after a long time using.

The colour isn't paint, it's a plastic sleeve so it won't come off.

    • I didn't know that. I ordered a color one before and it was canceled for this reason.

Amazon cancelled it and told you the paint will come off?

  • You got the wrong ones.

    $35 for hex keys?

A fool and his money are easily parted.

    • I bought the ones in the OP during the last deal for about $30. They're very good.

These are top quality stainless, the cheap steel ones rust if you live near the coast. "Buy cheap, buy twice"

  • They make great tools.
    Well cut.

Yup, wera all big fans of their tools.

  • I used to have these… And then I switched to different length bits and two ratchets - torque and normal ones, plus a hex screwdriver. I think it is a lot more practical like that - you just swap bits between the three main tools. The only downside is that I was only able to find top quality torx bits but not hex. Wera does make some but they have lots of philips and flat ones and not a lot of hex in a set. I can give some links if anyone is interested or if my description is a bit hard to understand.

    • Those wera torque wrenches tend to be quite expensive aren't they?

      • Yes. My job is done.

      • It depends. Wera ones defintely are. But Wera did not have what I wanted. So I wanted a torque wrench for very delicate jobs, which would be:
        1. Electronic.
        2. Work as a torque wrench in both directions (right and left hand threads).
        3. Be light and compact.
        4. Work in a very wide range of torque settings.

I was only able to find one like that from aliexpress, unfrotunately. It was around $100. For a western brand torque wrench like that I would need to pay something around $400. That's a bit too much for a tool IMHO.

    • I think it is a lot more practical like that - you just swap bits between the three main tools.

I personally prefer individual tools that I can just grab and use rather than having to swap bits around. Sometimes I go back and forth between fasteners; having to swap bits each time eventually becomes a hassle.

The thicker shaft of a magnetic driver gets in the way in some devices, and the bits can pop out. Wera have a locking bit holder but it's even bulkier. One solution is to get long bits and a short handle, but that results in a wobbly driver which doesn't really affect function, it just … feels wobbly.

  • Why do they not include a 7mm? That is the size require to do a lot of Mazda brakes.

  • I don't get it…how good, really, can hex keys be?

More a question of of how bad a rounded out fastener can be? How long, and how much frustration, will getting it out cost you?

  • I have a few of their tools, they soooo good. Even just to look at and give smooches.
