I just buy at retail and claim it back as work expenses

      • +2

Can we claim 2 wireless mouse like Master 3S during tax time

        • +2

I did. Accountant didn’t blink an eye (claimed a Master 3 and Anywhere 3)

          • @kerfuffle: I have 2 MX keys and 2* Master 3s this time, all with reciepts on my name for work purposes, hopefully all are claimable.

          • @kerfuffle: Most accountants don’t care unless it’s blatant. Especially if you’re a simple employee client

The onus is on you when you sign and might have to substantiate to the ATO in the event of an audit. The accountant will be charging you 4/5 hundred per hour to facilitate the audit

          • +1

@kerfuffle: because we have 2 hands, then ofcourse we need 2 mouses.
and another 2 for backup. hey earth can die but work cant stop

        • +11

Easy to justify, just use one for your home office and one for your workplace office.

          • @x: Exactly! If you have multiple machines, multiple mouse isn't a problem.

        • Does an accountant have to make the claim for you, or can you just do it yourself online?

          • +1

@johntix: You can claim it yourself using myTax.

        • you can claim literally anything you like. they don't check it until (unless?) you get audited.

    • -4

@chimot Totally pointless. I just pulled the trigger on the MX Ergo at $111. Absolutely no regrets and would definitely pay RRP of $149 because of its value. If $30 is an issue then it’s time to get a better job. You don’t have to live in poverty.

      • +2

Ozbargain doesn’t seem like the right forum for you.

        • -1

Waiting an indefinite period to time to save a pittance is not a sensible decision unless you’re poor

  • Has anyone faced a problem where the scroll wheel makes whining noise? I bought one from eBay and returned and then bought one from JBHiFi, and had the same issue and returned! So not sure if I want to give it another go!

    • In what kind of situation you mean? Mine (both 3 and 3S) are silent when scroll wheel not in motion, while pretty quiet when smooth scrolling (well it still has moving parts).

There's sticky noise on the side wheel when scrolling, and I can feel some resistance, too. But that's just the lubricant in the wheel which will be gone after extended use.

      • +1

I think you can program the scrolling wheel

"Both scroll wheels on the Logitech MX Master 3S are made of metal and feel very high-quality. They're also very quiet. The vertical wheel on top has a precise, notched scrolling mode and a free-scrolling mode that's useful for quickly scrolling through documents or websites"

  • Is this worth upgrading from a Logitech G900, for every day work use?

    • +10

The MX Master is THE BEST work mouse. I have a G502 for gaming, but the size, feel and functionality makes it worth it buying a second mouse just for working.

  • +4

    officeworks will beat by 5%

  • Is that much better then the first version of it (got on a prime day deal a while back)

    • From the reviews I saw it’s more of a side grade.

    • When you say first version. the original MX Master, or the MX Master 3 (non S)?

      • Original

        • I think the 3s or 3 are a bit smaller than the original.

        • I have the 3 (non S) and the original.

The 3 has higher quality feeling materials and is more refined all around. It is better, but not by much.
The mouse wheel flick doesn't just go as long anymore, and when you stop it the "click" noise is quieter.

The placement of the back and forward buttons is much better imo. The horizontal scroll wheel also feels like it's working better.

The Logitech Flow feature also sucks, I use Mouse Without Borders instead.

I don't think the upgrade is worth the money, I just convinced myself that my wife really wanted to use the original so that I could upgrade.

          • @WorstAgreeableRadish: Alright so will probably leave it

            • @eckers19: My original has heaps of issues. Rotting rubber caused the thumb button to stick. Had to cut away the rubber and now it is healed together with gaffs.

              • @boxall: The rubber is coming up a little on the thumb thing but not a major issue

  • Can I use 3s mac version on windows?

    • Yes. It’s identical except for colour and packaging. They just market it yo Mac users who don’t know if the pc one can be used on Mac.

      • +1

I don't think the 3s mac includes the Logi Bolt USB Receiver though.

        • Good point - I don’t realise this model had Bolt instead of Unifying.

Probably good to point it out in the description as it won’t be backwards compatible with any Unifying receivers you might have, and the receiver won’t be compatible with any Unifying mice or keyboards (or LightSpeed for that matter).

Very few apple devices have USB-A these days, so I can see why they don’t include it. In my experience, Logitech mice perform fairly poorly on Bluetooth Apple Silicon devices, and there’s a lots of threads on stuttery movement. Unfortunately, the unifying receiver is the only workaround…

The real issue is the lack of a USB-C receiver, for any Logitech products.

  • Bought a anywhere 3s for 2 months but lost it :( how does this compare?

    • +1

Function wise, pretty similar, MX Master 3s does have more assignable buttons though. Ergonomics is the major thing, MX Master mice feel elite to work with for long periods.

      • +4

I have the Anywhere 3S and the MX Master 3 (not 3S). I really like both mice, MX Master 3 is definitely heavier but has horizontal scroll wheel which is quite nice. I have small hands so I actually prefer the Anywhere 3S but both mice are awesome. MX Master 3 feels more ergonomic.

      • Are the buttons quieter?

    • +5

Yeah that's the trouble with those… It could be anywhere

  • Time to replace the original Master. All the rubber has rotted and buttons are stuck. Held together with gaffa tape.

    • Time to replace the original Master

I feel the original is a bit too big now.

  • This or the the Logitech Lift Vertical Ergonomic Mouse? I am currently using the Logitech M720 and its been good so far but have been looking for an upgrade. I require the multi-device feature which I believe is available in both the MX and Lift vertical.

Forgot to add - I have small hands so have to consider that also when choosing the MX vs the Lift vertical.

    • buy both and return one

    • +1

lift if you have smaller hand.
try to find lift for 79 ish at amazon ebay etc
if it is pink only dont worry get it and msg me later

  • +1

    same price at amazon

    • +1

Thanks! I got a MX Master 3, but ordered 3S from Amazon now.

  • I've got the MX Master 2S ($103 on Amazon) and I love it. Not sure the 3S would be any better, if anything 2S looks like a better shaped/built mouse to me

    • +1

I had the 2S and it just became worn out, so I decided to upgrade (the scroll wheel was worn out, one of the side buttons no longer worked etc). If I were you, I wouldn't upgrade. I actually prefer the 2S body over the 3 but you get used to it anyway.

Any JB Hi-Fi perks getting around at the moment to use on this?

  • +2

Was able to get it for $99 by messaging live chat and asking if they'll match this user's order https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/13370578/redir

They took the price to $109 and I used a $10 JB Perks voucher.

    • How, that link is not $99?

      • +1

Does the link not take you to a comment? I tried linking to Khurram's comment.

    • What did you say to the operator to get them to match it? Did you send them link to the screenshot?

      • +3

        "Hi,
I was looking to buy a Logitech MX Master 3S. I was speaking to someone that told me they were able to buy it from JB Hi-Fi for $109. Their order number was #5BDAYQ if that helps. Are you able to match this price?
        Thanks"
        Something along those lines

        • No dice, I only managed 123 from 2 different reps.

          • @ning: Interesting, maybe I just got lucky. I have had my ordered confirmed - am still yet to collect.

            • @ADollarSavedIsA: Probably. Thanks :) one of the reps said that that order was place over a month ago, if you don't mind sharing your order number I might get better luck.

        • +1

Just did this. Worked a treat. Cheers.

  • After using Razer Basilisk X Hyperspeed several years, I found that my old original MX Master a bit too big now. Is it the 3s around the same size and feel?

I am thinking G502X Plus may be better if they price come down.

  • Is this prone to double click issues? My MX Anywhere 2S just started double-clicking :(

  • Can the graphite colour be used for Mac?
    Or only the white?

    • +2

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/13532530/redir

I think with Mac just use bluetooth should be fine.

    • +1

From my limited research, the "Mac" and normal version are exactly the same mouse (except for colour), just that the Mac version doesn't ship with a logi bolt receive.

  • Officeworks are showing this and the white model in store and online at $126 now so I used some 15%-off Ultimate Gift Cards in store.

  • Got mine from Amazon the other day. I had the OG MX master many years ago but moved on because of the low max dpi. It's super comfortable and man have I missed the scroll wheel, but I'm not sure how I feel about the quiet clicks. It feels so strange. I'm sure I'll get used to it but I would definitely prefer it to be clicky
