OP you might want to take out the part about redeeming codes since that’s not needed for open beta.

3 hrs 17min to go though there might be a queue like with early access. And if you’re on pc, you might want to cap your fps in nvidia control panel to avoid damaging your graphics card.

    • +2

      The queue damages your GPU?

    • +2

you people need to stop posting articles without actually reading them.

    • Will it still damage it if you skip all the cutscenes?

  • aprox 3am Sydney time based on my quick calcs give or take an hr

    • Oh damn I thought it was 2am

  • +2

    Expecting 120min wait time

    • +1

      Error 37 PTSD

  • -5

Has the server started? Keep receiving error code 315306.

  • +1

    Not my day-off! 😡😡😡

  • +1

Played for the whole last weekend as sorcerer, and joined a world boss fight. I'd say it's an upgraded version of D3 with refined D2 items system.

    • With very little bound items thank god

      • Are graphics better than D3?

        • Way better its visually pretty nice. Does hdr to

      • Legendary are bound trading is still not viable

    • +3

Hmm not sure happy about that. I loved D2 but disliked D3 because it felt super easy and closer to a Dynasty Warrior game than it did D2. Also as soon as i started playing D3 i had hundreds of magical/rare items thrown at me, i remembered rare items being, you know, rare in D2. So if it's like D3.. ugh.

      • Apparently drop rates in the beta are higher than they will be at release.

  • Hope 32gb RAM is enough lol.

    • +11

Depends.. How many Ozbargain tabs you got open in Chrome?

      • Okay so my original comment was a joke, but it actually uses around 80-85% of my RAM on high settings. Need to drop down to medium on texture qualities due to memory processing issues.

        Not bad though.

        • -2

D4 can run on a potato . 32gb is not needed at all

  • +2

Considering the beta last weekend had hours worth of wait times with a smaller amount of potential players may as well not bother playing until tomorrow morning/arvo.

  • +11

Blizzard ain't what it used to be 😞

    • +1

      Why?

      • Because the values and quality that once made it king made way for profits instead. They knew what fans wanted but instead they made rubbish content like Diablo mobile to name an more recent example.

        • -4

Diablo Mobile was specifically made by their mobile gaming section for mobile gaming players who like that style of Mobile game. It was wildly successful and popular too with that market. The company nor the mobile players could give a shit about what the traditional Diablo players think - which is fine, because us traditional Diablo players don't have to play or engage with a mobile game if we don't like. There's no connection between either of the games other than it's just a seperate entity within the franchise so to speak. Those mobile gamers are not the same who play this style of Diablo game on the PC and potato boxes, so it's of no relevance either way.

Anyone who has tested or played D4 will tell you it's an evolved and expanded upon version of Diablo 3. It has nothing to do with the mobile version of Diablo and plays nothing like it. So I'm really not sure how there could be any major concerns.

There's a 100 companies out there right now doing umpteen times worse things to people & the planet that you happily ignore to go about your daily life. No clue why Blizzard is rustling your jimmies.

    • Blizzard got stucked and we all grown-up.

      • -2

Nah.. the team that made it what it was either got fired or moved on to other companies.

Case in point, they put back wow classic because retail was shrinking.

        • Not many new generation gamers into RPG that blizzard used to release anymore.

And not much money in it for them either.

New generation ppl prefer these type of games in mobile platform with in app purchases.

  • is the game good?

    • +4

As a Diablo fan of old, I enjoyed it. Has the right feel and pace

      • +2

        Stay awhile and listen…

    • Yep.

We'll wait and see how the game develops and improves over time to see if the eventual expansions & what not are worth buying, but as it is, it's definitely worth a purchase when it's released and go's live. The game plays beautifully, the loot system and items appear good as a starting base & the game looks absolutely gorgeous as a bonus.

  • There's reports of D4 killing some 3080TI. Sounds like a good excuse to buy a new gpu

  • The game was unplayable for me last Saturday. I gave up for the day but Sunday was much more stable.

  • +3

Doctor, I need a Diablo IV stat.

  • +2

Dont know how this is a bargain. only this weekend and only 1 zone with level capped at 25.
How much are Beta tests normally?

    • +4

      KFC order from US

    • The price of a chicken sandwich and mild forex exposure

  • +1

im experimenting something with VPNs hopefully will allow me and some mates to get the standard version of the game for $76, $110 for the ultimate edition.
will update on how if it works out

    • Keen to see if you can get something working. I just realised it's $109.95 on PC, yet you can get the PS5 version for $79.99 from Amazon.

    • Argentina store I’m guessing. I’ve heard it still works, just need to add 3 days before you can trade. I chose to preorder a ps5 copy for a bit less than that on Amazon after discounted gift cards to avoid any risk.

      • and here i was thinking i was pioneering an exploit, of course using a VPN to buy in another currency isn't a new concept, but i couldn't find discussion on this anywhere. i was concerned about being hit by the Argentinian tax on digital purchases though. mind sharing where you got your info from?

        • +1

I got my info from various reddit posts then DMing individuals to confirm whether they followed through and if it still works. I've been told this workaround has never stopped working though I gave up after finding out the savings were mediocre compared to console (and you lose any resale value) so I can't tell you whether you have to pay that tax (which is apparently 75% wtf lmao)

          • +1

@ChillBro: didn't work for me with a bunch of mastercard and visa (28d latitude, wise, bankwest platinum, ANZ black travel)

i might try this with my turkish account instead and report back in 3 days. After conversion the deluxe edition is $120aud and the standard about $98. Not that big a saving, but it's the ozbargain way.

            • @plentifoo: Lol that’s unfortunate but solid effort. I got a ps5 copy for ~$70 delivered off Amazon (after discounted giftcards) instead. Having played both betas on ps5 and pc, I realised that the pc version stutters like crazy. My plan is to sell the ps5 copy and buy it on pc when there’s a sale once they’ve fixed the bugs.

              • @ChillBro: I don't have a ps5 and I generally prefer to play rpgs like this on PC with kbm.

    • +1

an update on my endeavour to get this cheaper - no bueno.

apparently blizzard changed their policy back in 2021, they will only accept argentinian credit cards as form of payment.

needless to say i've tried all my no forex transaction fee credit cards i have at my disposal and none of them worked. They all got hit with 0.01 preauthorization charges.

  • +1

didn't even get to the gameplay. shortly after creating my character, game crashed, first fps dipped, then it just froze and kicked me back to the desktop stating some files were corrupt.

tried to log back in and now it's a 59min wait time.

edit: searched up the issue and it seems the fix is to limit fps to 60, turn vsync on.

    • What GPU?

      • 2070 super.

Anyway - it was much better the next day and all the times i tried logging in after. turned down refresh rate and changed quality from high to medium.

    • +1

Most rpg I play I never get past char creation. There are so many choices with hair style, eye colour, facial features, body type etc.

  • I crashed out. Dont really feel like logging back in with the queue. Optimization doesnt seem good and resolution doesnt want to change. But I cant trouble shoot these things relating to gameplay when its online only. If I paid for this game to get early access I would be pissed. If PoE2 was close to release I'd probably give this a miss in it's current state tbh. It just seems like the same rehashes formula and doesnt have nearly as much customization/complexity as PoE to keep you playing.

    • +6

Well the whole point of beta is to fix bugs and server issues. That way they'll be ready and the game will be stable when it Lauches in June. You're meant to report these issues so the company can fix it.

      • -2

They've had over a decade to fix server issues. D3's launch was horrid. They had last weekend to stress test it with at least 1 million people but yet again this weekend there's 30min+ queues. D2R had similar queues for weeks until popularity died off.
If you think any feedback you give or testing you do this weekend will impact the experience for launch you haven't played a Blizzard game before. There will still be long queues and disconnects in June.

    • +1

Mates and I played for hours straight last weekend with zero issues after first crash 5 mins in. Was worth the initial frustration

  • +1

Seems better than last week. Queueing for 15mins will come back and play after voting.

  • +2

For people wanting to play this on consoles when the game is released. you will need ps plus or Xbox live to play. There is no offline mode.

    https://reddit.com/r/diablo4/comments/11kwoz2/support_confir…

    • For the beta it seems to allow the second PS5 local player to play online without a ps plus account. Where in Diablo 3 both characters needed one. Hopefully that isn't just a beta feature.

  • FYI quality drop rates are higher during beta "for testing purposes" but we all know it's basically the good "old first hit is free"

    https://twitter.com/RodFergusson/status/1638911812577169409

    • Well yeah, they also need to test out the legendary item bonuses to see if they break the game/work in addition to the skills.
Higher tier items don't generally drop a lot at low levels in any ARPG. This isn't the conspiracy you're looking for.

      • +2

How dare you bring fact into a blizzard bashing conspiracy comment!…

      • I feel like Torchlight 2 had a weird amount of drops but almost deliberately never for the class I was playing.

Half the time I played I'd get gear and end up switching characters non-stop.

That was until I played the switch version and lost all interest because of how broken it was.

  • Do you need ps plus to play online?

    • Beta no. Full release, sadly yes.

      • Not an issue if you're already subscribed but yea would be cheaper in the long run playing on PC if not interested in the other benefits of console subscriptions.

        • All local players need a PS plus account for Diablo 3. If D4 is the same way, needing an extra PS plus account just for one game is a kinda big deal.

          • @Team America: You don't need an extra sub. I've played plenty of local co-op Diablo 3 and we only have one PS plus sub. You mustn't have your accounts set up correctly.

            • @dreamstation: D3 seasonal themes are really good so I always play online. You need an extra for D3 online play and D4 is online only.

              • @Team America: You need one PS Plus subscription to play online, doesn't matter if online or local co-op or both. One sub.

  • +1

    30 minute queue
    Got to level 4
    Game crash
    30 minute queue

    • Sounds like a great endgame loop

    • Update: Turned graphics to low
      Level 19
Feels like D2 all over again (with longer load times wtf it's 2023)

  • Yeah, getting disconnects after 10-15 minutes after 30 min queues… Last weeks early beta had long queues but was more stable, will probably try again when it stabilises later

  • Managed about 10 minutes before it crashed and I had to go back in queue. So far I'm loving it.

  • Yeah I had a crash too, weird since last weekend was stable for most of the weekend, must be trying things again

    • OK screw this, got back in after another 25min queue, "timeout" as it was loading, back to 39min queue

  • Perhaps a stupid question, as I've never played betas, do you get to keep the character and loot you find in the beta? Or will it be wiped come release?

    • All wiped

    • If you reach level 20 you get some cosmetic stuff for the real game.

  • +2

    2 hour install
    30min queue
    crashed at the intro cinematic
    35min queue
    …..lol

    • PS5:
      - One hour-ish playable install
      - 30 minute queue
      - Battle.net auth with MFA (MFA authenticator only on old phone that was flat because i got new phone three weeks ago)
      - 1 minute queue (felt like at least 5 minutes)
      - authentication time-out
      - 38 minute queue

      F this.

      • That's weird. We're on PS5:

        Downloaded and installed
        Watched the cinematic
        In queue < 1 minute
        Playing straight away

That was a couple of hours ago. Just tried again, got straight in again.

  • +1

Any good prices for the pre-purchases right now?

    • Jb has trade in offer 2 games and get the consoles version free. If you have some old switch games may be worth a try . There was a post for eligible games

  • +2

The beta rewards you can unlock:

Initial Casualty Title: Rewarded for having one character reach Kyovashad early in the main story.

Early Voyager Title: Rewarded for having one character reach level 20.

Wolf Pack Cosmetic Item: Rewarded for having one character reach level 20.

    • im here for these items then im out - beta is horrible for folks with a half decent computer that can handle higher-res gameplay, whereas people who default to 60 fps on medium settings seem to have no issues.

  • -2

This game is gonna bomb hard like d3

    • Not a chance

      • -3

I don't know of they've made major changes since closed beta but reports were not good.

    • How did D3 "bomb" ???

It made U.S. $200 million + in it's opening day alone, and is one of the top selling games of all time. It's still being supported by the dev's now after more than 10 years since it was released and still has new content every 3 months. The current 3 month season of D3 is among the very best and most fun to play it's ever had & it's leaderboards are all full to capacity, it still has so many players active after all this time.

You'd have to be a special kind of ignorant think the game was by any measure a failure or bomb.

      • -3

It bombed with the hardcore fanbase not the run of the mill plebs that ended up playing the game.

        • +1

          I loved the D3.
          I enjoyed the D4 beta.

Stop thinking your opinions apply to everyone and that anyone who thinks otherwise is somehow a "run of the mil pleb".
I've played most major arpgs. From Diablo to Grim Dawn and even the "indie" ones like The sloromancer.

          • -2

@ihuntbargains: It isn't just my opinion buddy. I was in the D3 beta and bought it day 1 after spending at least half a decade actively playing D2. It was one of the biggest disappointments in gaming history for me and many others, having waited years for it to be released. This isn't just something I'm making up. It's great that at least somebody enjoyed the game, kind of like how the Rings of Power was popular with people that were never really into Lord of the Rings.

There are countless bits of analysis on the internet as to why D3 was critically assessed as a failure of a game. Just because bejeweled has 10 million daily active users, it does not make bejeweled a good game. Long time fans of diablo like me who've played the series since the mid-90s definitely want D4 to be good, but unless blizzard can pull off an amazing backflip on the last 10 years of failed releases, I'm not holding my breath.

This guy does a great analysis of the situation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1G6oRuu9tLg

            • @Budju: Congratulations on hand picking other peoples opinions that fit yours and trying to use them as some kind of proof that it means the game sucked to everyone.

The numbers disagree with you and claiming that having active numbers =/= good game is just false.
It's a good game to those people.
I don't care for your 3/4 life crisis crying over a game plenty of others enjoyed. Goodbye

              • -2

@ihuntbargains: lol that was a pathetic reply.

I'll just leave you with metacritic to stew on and say goodbye, kid.

                https://www.metacritic.com/search/all/diablo%203/results

                • @Budju: "I'll just leave you with metacritic to stew on and say goodbye, kid."

                  LOL.
there is more players CURRENTLY online than reviews.
Just over a year ago d3 reached over 63 million players total.
Sorry that you can't handle that people enjoy a game you don't.

Calling me "bud" and "kid" doesn't stop you being a miserable old man who can't handle the fact that literally tens of millions of people enjoy a game you dont.

Cope and seethe while I enjoy D3 and D4

                  • -2

@ihuntbargains: There are not 63 million active diablo 3 players, when they produce those statistics, they count every nephelum on every account so your one account counts as 10 players. This is why in 2015 they had sold 30 million copies and claimed 65 million 'nephelum'. Basically a meaningless statistic
