    Enormous battery for the specs!

Does Poco access the home WiFi network?

    • +3

Only if the SSID is 'home'

    • It will have to access that network to get connections to the internet. If, if that’s the question…

Got this for mum. Good value, but a tad slow to use. I have the X3 pro and partner has the M5 both are equally good and fast to use.

Tldr I'd go for the M5 and you won't feel like you've got a budget phone.

    • But does your mum really care…….

characteristically over the top review from notebook check:

      Performance – Patience required
The SoC in the Poco C40 is made by the company JLQ. Never heard of them? JLQ is actually a joint venture in China between Qualcomm and other companies. Named JR510, the bottom-tier SoC will remind you a lot of the Snapdragon 439 made by the American company.
You will quickly notice this in day-to-day use: the device stutters constantly and keeps you waiting even when the apps in question are not very demanding. Some benchmarks won't even run because the GPU, for example, can't handle Vulkan API.
The slow storage hardly makes the experience any better. Things often take a long time to load and the system feels even slower because of the sluggish storage.
For web browsing, the Poco C40 delivers a similar level of performance as other budget smartphones. But that isn't saying much: even with high-speed Internet, it takes a while for websites to load, and you often have to wait even longer for images to appear.
Only those who are patient will enjoy the Poco C40 and its performance in everyday use.

      No NFC.

  • No NFC is going to be a deal breaker

    • And this will be slow also be a deal breaker. It runs off a low end CPU.

  • Seems like a good alternative to those that missed out on the Xiaomi Redmi 10A While similar in spec this has the edge. Looking at the specs, the most significant difference is this apparently has a processor with the Cortex A-55 processor rather than the Cortex A-53 in the Redmi 10A. However JLQ is unknown to me: while JLQ has some partnership with Qualcomm it is a newer player than Mediatek. Ordinarily, Qualcomm processors are to be preferred but does the JLQ have the same quality as a full Qualcomm design/fab? At least it's not a 28nm fab Unisoc.

If you want NFC you'd be lucky to find a locked phone with the same processor on special for the same price with USB-C, 5GHz WiFi and Gorilla Glass. If you need a low end phone now I'd get this otherwise wait for a clearance with sharper pricing.

    • Both phones mentioned look like they give you aids and if the reviews above for the C40 is even half factual then you'll be super excited about terminal on-coming condition as you won't have to use either phone for long! If your gonna spent 150 bucks add 75 bucks more and get an iPhonse SE 2020 Second hand, the crappiest one will actually be a phone and work well.

    • Maybe ask someone who can read Chinese to set the phone language to English for you? Would be a shame and unnecessary expense to return it if that's the only thing wrong with it. Instructions probably aren't that helpful anyway but maybe you can find an English PDF of this or a similar model.

    • What is the basis for your neg, and the 8 or so others on earlier Banggood threads?
