    These are really good drives. They are like one of my absolute go to's when I need to upgrade a machine that still has a HDD (shudder, I know). An SSD upgrade is still one of the single best improvements that can be made to an older PC to make it feel new and fresh, hands down & this drive, for the money, is an excellent choice.

    Why? The quality of these has gone down significantly over the last couple years, and you can get an nvme for less, or little extra with dram, that is 5x faster.

          It is SATA just like your HDD, no way it didn't work, did you reinstall your system?

            @superforever: I did reinstall windows. Feels like the dell has given up after 12 years. There is a loud noise when it tries loading. I thought it was the hard drive and bought this. The windows installation is all good but then when it restarts the hard drive activity turns off. I am inclined towards keeping the SSD with a case to use it as external.

            In my forum post - a suggestion to try chrome os. Will give it a shot.

              @djsydney: In that case the noise may came from your laptop CPU fan and overheating caused the shut down.

    Ive got a nuc with space for a 2nd 2.5 drive as long as its under 9.5mm in z-height.

    The listing has the follwing:

    Item Dimensions L x W x H ‎10.3 x 0.7 x 7 centimetres

    I cant see it being 7cm in height, surely that is 7mm?

      The W and H are swapped around

      Should be 0.7cm H.

      The Crucial MX500 is a standard 2.5" Drive, so it should fit in your NUC.
