MSI GeForce RTX 4070 Ti 12GB VENTUS 3X Graphics Card $1089 + Delivery @ TECS

1250

This is the cheapest i've ever seen an RTX 4070 ti and seems like a pretty good price. Never heard of Tecs though so not sure if it's 100% legit or not, please leave a comment if you have any experience with them.

Gaming X trio also available for $1199

Didnt think I would be buying a 4070Ti today, but I just did…

Well I bought the ventus which came through confirmed but didnt deduct any funds.

Then decided to buy the gaming x and that did go through and deducted the funds… not sure what will happen.

Left a message for them to refund the ventus order but didnt look like it went through correctly and now showing as not in stock?

1440p, should be fine in 2+ years
4K might be pushing it if you like to max out everything

      lighten up, jerk

    • +1

What games do you play on what settings and what frame rate is your standard.

I play 1440p with a 2080 super and most games I play are fine. I don’t play cyberpunk. I can play it with lower settings though with lower fps

    • where do people come uo with these dumb theories?

    • 3060 ti was only just a bottleneck for 1440p for me, and that was w/ tri monitor setup 2k 165hz +2k 75 and 1200p 60.
wasnt the best performance but it was 50-60 ish in the forest w/ mid-high settings

12gb is enough in 2023 Copege

      • +2

Sampler feedback, DirectStorage, mesh shaders all yet to be properly implemented in games… you're fine. 9 out of 10 of the games that have genuinely been punching beyond 12 GB at even 4K are badly optimised.

    • -2

      Do you even play games?

    • as someone who buys for productivity, even while this is somewhat low, 12gb is normal around this price bracket for productivity. Im aware of amd's higher vram but its outweighed by terrible productivity performance

    • +6

Watch ourt, NVIDIA fanboys will jump on you , they cry when I call em out for 10 GB on 3080 , you can't even play re4 remake on ultra with that 🤡, in any case a 6800xt is on par with this card and still cheaper

      • +1

Its too low for my liking but hey, what can you do
the fact that any discourse involving computer parts is dumbed down to "fanboying" is ultimately what made me take a break from it for a few years.

People should just buy based off what performance/price and value they percieve from it. Wether something is good value or not is subjective anyway

      • Yeah, but RE4 is make shit, hard to hold that against a GPU. Well made games for PC's should be scalable, for the budget gamers to those with the premium rigs. Lowering settings and accepting lower fps should all the budget PC gamer should have to deal with, not with crashes, stuttering or absolute garbage textures.

  • Sold!
God I hope this works out ok. Hopefully paypal will add some security if things go wrong…
Oh and thank you for sharing OP.

  • Only $20 more than the 3070Ti on their website. Hmmm

    below 1k! HODL

  • +1

Pricing on that site is weird. Everything else about average price but this way cheaper

    • +9

I think it is price err. It supposed to be 3070ti price

      • That would make sense

  • +2

Seems to have similar gaming performance to a 3090, which I just bought second hand for $1200 (though I need the 24gb of vram for work). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V3qXgWtomLU

    Seems like a good deal.

the rapid price drop of 4070 ti gives me hope for the 4070 12gb being significantly sub 1k

    • this comment didnt age well haha

      • yep.., ig $999 is technically sub 1k, just not significant, at this point ill just try and find a used 3080

I've been getting the impression from hardware podcasts and my own understanding of device internals that consoles are going to deliver a better gaming experience for the next little bit - not necessarily because developers are lazy with porting but because there are things that a PC just can't do right now, or can't do without throwing an extremely disproportionate amount of silicon at the problem.

People know what they're doing when they buy PC gaming hardware so I'm not going to wax on about "oh you could buy X instead" but I don't think the next Crysis is coming out anytime soon to re-establish the PC Master Race so having a rig that can play PC exclusives and indies and whatever shows up on Humble Bundle, and a console with game pass or game pass-like subscription, is a good way to be until the wheel turns some more.

    • +9

I'm not really sure how or why the people you've been listening to would make such a strange assertion. The PS5 is literally just a 3700x with a 5700xt and some RDNA 2.0 sprinkled on top. Of course it helps to have game settings optimised to run on static hardware specifications, but that's pretty much where the console advantage ends. It is a big advantage of the console though.

      • Predominantly they're subject matter experts - engineers and developers and like. The massive advantage that consoles have right now is a unified memory model combined with reliable ultra-fast SSD storage that allows them free up IO and memory shunting textures and geometry and other graphical assets between components. Even with DirectStorage and a very fast SSD PCs use a lot of IO pushing assets between components so if a GPU doesn't have enough memory - and in 2023 8GB is starting to fall into this category - this can lead to bottlenecks that slow down performance.

PC specs will eventually just grow until they eclipse the issue with even mid-tier hardware but that time isn't now so the PCMR will just have to try not to take their hardware's disadvantages as a personal affront.

        • Yeah there are obviously a lot of variables with the PC which can lead to bottlenecks. The ram thing is a pretty big issue, and it looks like the 4060Ti will only have 8gb of ram as well.

      • +1

People who are still stuck in the PS3 days, presumably.

    • -4

Idk what you're rambling on about, but basically with every new console generation, the first 3-4 years or so the consoles will be untouchable in terms of value but eventually half way through their life cycle the disparity levels out. Near the end of the console life cycle, you can build quite a better system for the price of a new console.

      • You're the one talking out of your arse mate. My rig runs rings around my PS5 and Xbox series X. Yes they are better value, but that wasn't what you actually said. PS5 was already previous gen AMD hardware on release.

        • +1

It's suggested console gaming is better at the moment due to nearly every pc port experiencing bad shading compilation stutters, high vram requirement and general poor optimization.

        • untouchable in terms of value

Yeah but I bet your rig didn't cost $750 brand new and include controller (or mouse + keyboard)?

          • @DiscountForThee: Nope, the value proposition is better with consoles for the hardware. That's a very obvious point, they are subsidized by the console creator because they get their money back with game sales. Games on balance are cheaper on the PC but you'll probably still spend more overall.

        • Mate, how am I talking out of my ass? The base hardware of the PS5 and Xbox aren't that powerful in and of themselves, but with optimisation, no equivalent hardware on a PC will perform as well, so for the same price a console will be a better value proposition. How did I not say that consoles are better value when that's exactly what I said?

    • +4

You're wrong about the technical aspects.

However now considering prices of GPUs and power of modern consoles. NVIDIA certainly made consoles a far more attractive option.

Flipside can get most consoles games on PC. I recently upgraded my office PC with a 5800x3d and ARC a750. Beast of a 1440p gaming PC for not much coin if you shop around. Main rig 3070, will wait for ARC Battlemage.

      • Which part was wrong? I'm aware that the cpu and gpu are different SKUs but they are built with similar specification and technologies to the models I've highlighted.

        • +4

Was replying to dudley about overall gaming experience on consoles vs PC. I think overall gaming experience is better on PC overall. Even a bad port run better on PC.

However value proposition nowdays with Nvidia prices has made consoles a better BFYB options with game passes. He's right there. $2000 for a GPU alone, thats insane jump from last gen. I thought my 3070 i got $1100 was a rip off going into covid.

Meanwhile you can get a PS5 bundle, VR2 headset, subscription next 5 years and few games plus change for price of a 4080.

I'm a die hard PCMR but even I think consoles probably a better deal atm.

          • @Bid Sniper: Yeah the GPU prices are shocking, definitely a draw back for PC gaming right now. I picked up both consoles during the dreaded bitcoin mania of covid, which made even more sense back then.

    • Apples vs oranges

    • +1

Okay, there is a problem with PC gaming at the moment, it seems developers aren't good enough to deal with DX12 and Vulkan. These newer APIs allowed developers to get closer to the metal and it turns out developers for PCs can't optimize for shit, or more specifically, cannot optimize effectively the massive range of hardware and its combinations along with the variety of drivers within the tight deadlines they are being given.

When developers and the third party engines have got the hang of DX12 and Vulkan, it'll improve like many PC games have with patches. Think of how console hardware stays the same for 8+ years but games look and run better over time. Problem is, developers are porting games from the consoles to the PC, and not getting the porting process right at the moment on the PC.

Not bad for 3X of them

    • The 3X means 3 fans, not 3X graphics cards!!!

I'm ruining your joke arnt I?

      • Yes, yes you are 😆

  • Do all 40th gen cards come with 16 pin to 8 pin adapters?

  • Nice price. Is it worth upgrading from a Rtx 3080?

    • +3

It would only be a marginal increase.

  • whats the equivalent cardto the 4070ti in the ATI range?

    • I would say the 7900XT

      • 7900xt? Which was on here the other day https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/766289

I was highly tempted at it because heaps more VRAM, but i pulled the trigger on the this Nvidia deal just before as I do CAD drawing and 3d visualisation work and NVIDIA seem to be a little more popular in those markets with their studio drivers etc.

        • +2

for productivity its unfortunately practicaly non-competitive with a few exceptions

    • ATI… that's a blast from the past

  • +2

I've shopped at TECS instore a few times when desperate, they're generally not great on prices but are definitely legit

  • +7

Tecs, the last remaining nerd store when La Trobe St and near by used to be full of computer, gaming and other interest stores. Now Melb is just one big China town, Cafes that come and go, hype Brunch places, empty for lease signs and another much (not) needed university building on top of the other university buildings.

If the signs are true and the commercial market will implode come September/October. Hopefully we will see a resurgence in great stores run by real people organically pop up again.

  • Still able to check out, so still look like in stock for the Ventus?

    • Or they're just on Easter break and we'll all have cancelled orders next week.

      • Oh ok, worth the shot I guess.

Edit: Actually, they work tomorrow, 8.04, according to Google opening hours, so we will see the results then… and oh btw, looking at their Google page store, they do advertised a lot of MSI products…

  • Tagging this to see if they honour

  • Oh looks like the pages are taken down. Hmmm…

  • The pages back are up but the prices are up a lot… and in stock, so meaning we bagged a good deal/ getting honored?

    • +1

I think if anything, it shows what people are willing to pay for a 4070Ti right now compared to all the current stagnating stock which is all priced around $1400.

      • +1

Seems like someone below asked to see if they can get the card but got refunded, so we may or may not get it, I reckoned towards the later.

        • We will see I guess…

But based on the sometimes hive mentality of many on ozbargain, I will not make it public if they do honour it for myself.

  • +1

    Tecs have officially been Ozbargained

  • -1

Seems like they are not honoring the price. Just talked to them and got a refund :(

Did they honor the price for anyone else?

    • Same, I spoke to the owner and he was very respectful and and apologetic and told me it was an error on their end (data entry error).

For their fairness, the email I got after I placed the order did clearly mention its out of stock.

It happens, He told me he will look after me if I ever need any PC parts in the future :).

  • Received refund by Paypal, but was not told in any other communication except via the Paypal refund note.
Back to waiting for a reasonable price I guess…

    • Ditto.

    • I got the same thing. Bit of a shame. Was looking forward to it.

  • Looks like they put the listing back up as a non-TI OC variant for $1049.

Given the leaked performance around a 3080, the 4070 seems like a bum deal in this market.
    https://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-RTX-4070-New-le…

Edit: the link is down once again

    • You might have gotten the last one at that price. I saw a MSI B650 Carbon Wifi selling for $383 by Amazon AU yesterday and a few minutes later price went back up to $500+ and one less unit available.

  • I've unpublished it as it's not available any more.

    • All good, who was the seller out of curiosity? Amazon AU or another Amazon entity?

      • +1

        Amazon AU

The photos suggest it's a 4070 but the order says it's a 4070 Ti, so I don't know what's going to show up!!

    • Did you end up getting the card? The picture shows a 4070 hmm
