This is tempting but I wish I could trade in my homebase2

    • Have seen a $99 upgrade option in the US.

I will probably just bite the bullet and buy this and skid use the HomeBase 2

Be warned that many of the other Eufy products are not yet compatible with this. Promised timelines keep being pushed out by Eufy.

    Compatibility Schedule

    • Looks like all devices I have are compatible and I didn't know I had random Supercheap credit which brought this down even further

    • U wot m8

      • Dodgy company sending footage back servers in China even if you don't subscribe to cloud services. All Chinese companies are compelled to hand over footage to the government according to the 2017 National Intelligence Law.

      Imagine thinking you're important enough

      • It's more the principle or the fact that one day they may be banned in Australia.

User images and facial recognition data are being sent to the cloud without user consent, and live camera feeds can purportedly be accessed without any authentication.

Interestingly, every face that it recognises gets assigned a unique ID. And if your face pops up at a friends house, it will have the same ID. So their cloud recognises you from one system to another. Pretty clever stuff, and this was happening to everyone, not just an important few…

That's my point not to mention the face the cameras phone home to China even if you don't sign up for cloud features. I'm kind of impressed I received 10 down votes.

        • I understand your point now (and agree), I think just the stance was a bit too tin hatty without enough context. Thanks for the follow up.

  • Is this model T8881T21 ?

Just remember to check settings or block via pihole/adblocker before connecting to the internet /wifi

    • +1

what should you block via pihole? won't that just break all of the features such as notifications etc?

      • You'll have to do a trial and error manually. Can't find a whitelist for eufy yet.

If something breaks then allow a host one at a time until it's fixed.

same goes with google. install ublock extension when connecting to wifi.

google gets hacked and hackers steal all your saved passwords and authentications

  • My eufy 2pro doesn't do 24/7 recording so I'm not sure if having a big storage is suitable for my current set up. I wonder what everyone would need that much of storage for.

    • +1

i doubt any battery powered camera allows 24/7 recording, they are not designed for this. Their whole point is wirefree installation

      • I mean most of eufy camera don't do 24/7 recording. AFAIK, the ones that do 24/7 recording do not connect to homebase at the moment

  • +3

I wonder if anything can be done about the fact that external storage was legitimately a promised feature on the homebase 2 that we never got

    • I wonder, did it ever get mentioned in the manual/packaging?

      • +1

I'll check my packaging and documentation but I think it was promised after the fact.
I still think it's super dodgy especially when you go on the official forum and look at the promises from staff

@meong: Yeah I literally was looking at that earlier that's actually what made me want to comment on this.

I definitely won't be picking up one of these unless they end up dirt cheap.

The parent company anker should really be offering some kind of trade in program for anybody that has a homebase 2.

  • Not available in store, but the cameras are.

  • Eufy are the kings of over-promising and under-delivering

yea same goes with google. install ublock extension when connecting to wifi.

  • you're in control of your own data

    lol

  • Did anyone actually get this? They’ve just canceled my order stating they have no stock 👎

  • $243 on amazon, home base 3
