Ahh yes I still remember the Shark Tank episode on this

    • +13

Lori paid $200K for 20% and the company is now worth like $250 million. Craziness.

      • +7

They're great products imo, have several different versions at home.

      • -4

Gotta love Shark Tank for exposing what a rort finance capital is. Get 20% of the stake for doing none of the work, and just wait for the company to be worth X times more.

        • +4

Yes, because every seed stage goes to X times, every time. Easy game.

        • +1

You are also being offered networking and contacts and industry know how, which is worth the money if your product becomes successful as a result of it.

          • +4

@azukay: Yeah, only losing 20% for someone who can do a substantial amount of the management work (plus throw in a pile of cash) is a bargain. Plus all the free marketing they get simply by being on shark tank.

        • +2

mate this is like pre teen levels of financial literacy. yes they can be rent seeking but do you reckon SD would be where they are today without shark tank and that investment? it's possible, but unlikely. you know how hard it is to get products like this on shelves?

        • If it's such a rort why go on shark tank? When you realize why then you'll finally understand.

    Oh yes Daddy

What are you doing, Scrub Daddy?

      • +1

I'm here to scrub your pipes

I wish to unsee this comment thread, is there a deal for that?

  • +2

We have 1 which is more than enough. Unsure why one would need 8?

    • +8

People often use them for different areas of the home (which is why they are coloured differently). 1 for washing up, 1 for bathroom, 1 for toilet, 1 for outside, 1 for car etc etc.

Also - they do not last forever, depending on how they are used and maintained (generally a couple of months).

      • +2

The originals lasted forever, Lori didnt like this, so they remade them to break down over 2-3 months depending on the amount of uses.

        • When did they take over, I just noticed last night the one I bought recently is starting to break down after only about a month ๐Ÿ˜•

    • +1

They start to break down after about 3-4 months, still that's about 10x as long as any other sponge.

  • +5

Got one as a joke early in the year, been using it daily ever since. Actually great product.

  • How do these go for dishes in a cold water only system?

    • +27

Cold water would make Daddy go firm

      • How firm is it? Is it still usable?

        • Yes. They are excellent. If youโ€™re worried just buy one and see how it goes.

      • +1

        Any shrinkage?

  • +16

It's $3.99 at chemist warehouse. So if you don't need this many (which is too many), you can buy how many ever you need for 23 cents more.

    • +1

Thanks, I'll buy a single one to check it out

    • +4
      • This is a different product though.

        • +3

Did you scroll down 4 products?

    • FWIW Amazon ones come in cardboard packaging and are about 4 thick. Chemist Warehouse ones come in plastic packaging and are about 3cm thick.

  • +1

As someone who always uses the economic, el-cheapo sponges, I can actually vouch for these despite the higher price.

News comes out this causes cancer like DuPont

  • +2

Drakes in SA has in catalogue for $2.99

    • Thanks for the heads up, just went and bought a family of scrubs…

  • can no longer S&S and lowstock

    • +2

I don't want no scrubs anyway

      • I see what you did there Kanjus ๐Ÿ˜‰

  • bought this, didn't think it was great. i like the blue sponges better that isn't so porous, and has a scratch free scrubber on one side.

    • Do you have a dishwasher maybe and just use the scrubber for pots? I hand wash all my dishes and for me the blue sponges are effective for about a week while the scrub daddy is good for months.

      • no, i don't have a dishwasher. the scrubb daddy always feels greasy and grimy to me.
my kids like it though, but i think its just because it has a smiley face. lol

i use the green sponges on my all clad pans, and blue sponges on my calphlon pans.

        • Fair enough, I'm usually using barkeepers friend for any serious scrubbing on my tri-ply anyway so might be why I don't notice.
