[Hack] 4x Pieces Original Recipe and 2 Sides $12.90 @ KFC (App Required)

1290

Not sure how long this hack has been available but it's simple. Order a family meal such as a giant feast or cheap as chips meal. When it asks you, add two sides and add 4 pieces of chicken. Then go to checkout and edit the side choices if you wish. Then
remove the family meal from your cart and voila $12.90 for four pieces of chicken and two sides.

If buying these separately you'll spend a good $23 so it's a great saving.

Might as well wave good bye to our usual…..

      Thanks Greg. 🤷🤦

      • +2

Blame the guy that told Greg.

        • Well, no more hack from KFC app. Thanks GREG…

          • -1

@ozizoy: KFC already know. In fact they designed it that way on purpose because they released a complete new app some months back, which means the "hack" was a required feature. It's been mentioned every few pages on the KFC forum on Whirlpool going back years.

      • Sure enough, 2 sides increased by a dollar lol.

Greg is awesome and I should have given him props

    • +4

I knew OP would have taken it from Greg's Kitchen.

      • -1

"Greg" is only several years behind the Whirlpool KFC forum where it's been mentioned every few pages going back years.

        • +1

I know it's very old but I also knew OP would have posted it after seeing Greg mention it. He even admitted so above.

      • Make it 21

      • Naive if you think KFC doesn't know about this. Also some franchises don't allow the discount.

      • +4

The hack has been around for years and posted on here regularly.
        It hasn't been shutdown yet.

Often when I just want chicken and chips for myself I would order a burger feast box add the 4 pieces of chicken and remove the burger feast for as long as I can remember.
I would also. get the free drink and chips using the survey voucher until they changed it to a drink only so now add the chips and drink for $5.95.

        • Yep, when I first saw this posted I thought the same thing and predictably it was removed within 24 hours. But then the hack was changed to a different method and has been going strong since. I think KFC have left this loophole be because the amount of people using it compared to the masses that don't know about it/can't be bothered is small, plus it is an inadvertent promo that encourages app use. But when it does get to a critical mass and become well enough known it will almost definitely be shut down. Therefore this and Greg's post doesn't help.

I am honestly not following the logic here. Isn’t ozbargain public too? Chances of kfc spies seeing this post are higher than seeing a random video on youtube.

        • Yep. An Aussie specific site with known kfc employees, vs a US owned video sharing site; its an odd hill to die on.

Sorry that your breakfast, lunch and dinner had been ruined.

Value wise cheap as chips is better. Just airfry to reheat.

    • +20

You mean people don't eat Cheap as Chips all in one sitting… I mean, yes… of course. Reheat the leftovers later…

      • I did once. Well almost, two of the sides were Pepsi Max which I didn't drink, and one side was potato and gravy which I put in the fridge. But I ate the rest. I wouldn't recommend it. Can't imagine eating three more food sides on top of it.

  • +1

The 4 OR pieces don't show up for me, can still get 6 hot and crispy pieces though which I'd prefer anyway (maybe it's random?). The 2 sides add on isn't much of a saving at all, can get 2 regular chips for $5.90 even without it so that's actually 5 cents cheaper than the add on (if choosing chips for both the sides).

    • +2

The 2 add on sides are large not regular

      • Ah I assumed they'd be regular, that's not bad then.

    • If you keep adding random chicken deals eventually it will come up. Patience always pays off haha

The 4x Pieces Original Recipe $6.95 hack has been around for a long time. KFC sure knows about it - I'm guessing this is the "real" price of the chicken.

There was a bit of a scare last year when the app was upgraded and the OR pieces disappeared for a little bit, but it did come back.

      • If you look at the price of the build your own bucket that would probably be closer.

    • Plus all the other sites it's been mentioned on for years like Whirlpool. Greg is a bit of a slow fella.

That $.5.95 large chips and large potato and gravy on its own drunk train ride home shame combo …. You can now share my shame

    • Straight to the VIP carriage for you sir.

    Thanks Greg

It still sound me out that people eat this. The worst quality chicken cooked in the most unhealthiest way. Bring on the negs, but you know I’m right 🤷🏼‍♂️

    • Did you only click on this to post your comment? Lol

      • Yes lol

        • I admire your dedication to clicking on every bargain even though you have no interest in it yourself!

    • +2

      I'll take the bait.
I'm curious how you call this the worse quality chicken? It's the same suppliers as Colesworth…

      • Red Rooster is sloppy and gross from the Warrnambool Store … KFC is only slightly better though … At least you can control the cooking quality with Colesworth.

        • +2

I find Red Rooster's fried chicken quite nice. I've tried original, spicy, and honey :)

      • If there were a cheaper and worse quality chicken available, KFC would buy it. I don’t think that would surprise anyone.

    • It's garbage

      Delicious garbage

  • -2

its $15 for 5 pieces, sides are rubbish anyway. this isn't a deal.

    Wicked Wings Fill up Box $4.95 * 2 = $9.9

    • 4 Wicked Wing
    • 2 Dinner Roll
    • 2 Chips
    • 2 P&G

    This Hack $5.95 + $6.95 = $12.9

    • 4 Original Recipes
    • 2 Sides
    • +2

The sides are large, and 1 large P&G is basically 4 small ones. Plus wicked wings are tiny compared to original

  • 4 original pieces or 6 hot and crispy? Can’t decide which is better value

    • 4 pieces.

    • Hot and crispy are similar size to chicken strips.

    • +1

Hot and crispy. Might depend how big the pieces you get are though, but they've been a decent size the last few times I've had them.

  • I don't know why anyone would add the sides… there's hardly anything to them and they're flavourless watery slop! I'd rather buy 2x of the 4x chicken pieces and mix my own Deb mashed potato in seconds using hot water, while I also heat much better tasting Gravox gravy packet for 40 seconds in the microwave (both from ColesWorths).

Or even with the crazy price of frozen chips now it's still cheaper and better result buying and frying your own homebrand chips, which aren't cold, limp, and soggy, and again the much better Gravox gravy packets.

    • There's always one of you guys that complain even though you come in to penny pinch

      • Oh come on… the fact is I've NEVER had decent gravy from KFC and everyone admits the chips are soggy, limp, and cold unless you eat them seconds after receiving them. The gravy doesn't even taste like the "fines" they're supposed to use… it has no taste and is just brown coloured slop. The potato is even worse with the consistency of school paste.

        • I agree wholeheartedly.
Oh wait, after kfc, Only have half a heart.

    • People who don't have an air fryer or deep fryer may find it difficult to replicate the taste of KFC chips at home, unless they are reasonably experienced in cooking. However, when it comes to making mashed potatoes and gravy, any decent cook can easily beat the quality of takeaway food. People generally opt for takeaway food either because they lack the cooking skills or simply don't want to cook on a particular night.

      • I think I read somewhere crumbled beef stock cubes are close to KFC salt taste.

  • Surely cheap as chips is better value than this hack.

  • I tried to checkout yesterday but it kept coming up with error and to contact the store. Anyone know why?

    • I think they caught on to it now that it became viral. I tried it today as well, in the morning is error. at night, not possible, they slashed it out.

      • +1

Looks like they have indeed caught on, 2 sides is now up to $6.95, nice one Greg.

Also I couldn't get the 6 hot and crispy the other day due to errors as well, but could still add the 4 OR so I guess they were OOS or something. Tried again just now and was able to order it.

        • +1

Yeh thanks to this Greg guy, that's why we can't have nice things…

  • +1

It's $13.90 now. Still able to purchase.

    • @asangam - doesn't work for me anymore. When attempting to checkout it says this order is not available for pickup. Give it a try, it won't charge you until you pick a payment method.
