•Samsung Galaxy S23+ 5G 256 or 512GB eligible for $450 Bonus Coupon with Trade in

• Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra 5G 256GB, 512 GB, 1 TB eligible for $500 Bonus Coupon with Trade in

JB are currently having a $200 discount on all S23 models, so it should stack nicely with the trade in promo Credit to @BargainsGrabber

Plus if you make the effort you can save an additional 10% off via gift cards (returned via loyalty points) from Coles or Woolworths this week ;) Again full Credit to @BargainsGrabber

One more credit to @mandelbrot Fyi for those that did the trade in with the flip 4 deal last week, you can use the bonus coupons from there without having to do another trade in

According to previous post people reported that if you cancel the trade in with Squaretrade (the trade in provider). They don't charge you for the bonus trade in coupon. So essentially you are charged only for the trade in value (if you don't send the trade in phone) and still keep the bonus $400 ~$500 bonus coupon. I haven't tried it. And this is according to the comments of previous post.

Campaign: 6 April 23 - 30 April 23

        • Just tell them you want to split payment using card (not gift card) and swipe them at the machine. Make sure get the PIN ready for fast transactions.

          • @kodoq: There's no pin on the vanilla gift cards

    • Yes you can

      • How does the vanilla gift cards work at JBHiFi? Do I just swipe it and press enter? Does it ask for pin?

        • +2

Just swipe - credit - enter. No pin unless you've set one. Also you'd be better off buying some discounted gift cards for JB with the Visa cards for extra savings.

          • @MiscOzB: Thanks, can I buy $1000 JB gift card with 4x$250 split payment?

            • @Homr: Assuming you're talking about discounted gift cards for JB (such as from the current Coles or Woolies deals) probably not, would need to use each card separately to buy them. Might take a while to acquire $1k worth though. For a faster way but less discount you could try buying from somewhere like ShopBack.

        • How does the vanilla gift cards work at JBHiFi

Above my pay grade mate, worst case you can call them and ask?
But re trade in, I think you can also do it in store as opposed to online.

I used many $50 - $100 jb gift cards online. And in store used way too many other visa/master gift cards and did split payments, although not vanilla ones

Wait it out guys, we need at least 40% off the rrp to reap the benefits of trade in bonuses.

    • Genuine question, is it common to have the latest version of a flagship phone from a leading phone manufacturer (e.g. Samsung Galaxy S23, Pixel 7 Pro) at a >40% discount off RRP within the first year? I am struggling to see how it could be discounted further from that available deal here.

      • +2

From memory i guess i scored s21 for less that $200 in aug 2021, within 2 months of its launch in oz.

Although i get your point, we can't predict the current market. But I will surely give it some more time given the rate at which the current offers dropping in

        • That's interesting. As I said, genuine question, this deal seems pretty incredible so was interested if it's common to get better than this.

        • And how did you manage to score a S21 for $200?
You would have had to trade in a few phones, or sign up to a 12 month or 24 month mobile plan to get that type of discount, which has a cost in itself.

          • @mandelbrot: I paid about that the upgrade S21 to S22, which I still think was worth it.

          • +2

@mandelbrot: There was a really good deal on S21 similar to this one but even better, you could get additional chat credit too for being a 'loyal' customer. I don't recall it ever being that low even for 128gb version though. I think I ended up paying around $400-$500 for 256gb

          • @mandelbrot: I got a S21 ultra for $400 within 2 months of coming out direct from Samsung.

No sim sign up required. No trading in a few phones.

  • +5

Fyi for those that did the trade in with the flip 4 deal least week, you can use the S23 and S23+ bonus coupons from there without having to do another trade in

    • +1

      Haha legend it works lol

      • Did you try it on the jb or samsung website ?

  • My square trade up account still has an order from 2022 for a device that I didn't send back. Can I remove it?, it won't let me process another order

    • +1

Try to email them and say you've already been charged the trade in. If it doesn't work, then sounds like you've been banned for 12 months for further trade in deals

    • Delete the app and reinstall it.i think this worked for a few that i know.

  • What will you guys do with $0 value phones? Just curious

    • +6

Depends how good the vibration motor is I guess.

    • +4

Factory reset - kids gaming phones without simcard installed.

  • Can easily get $400 for my phone on ebay but jb says its worth $0. What a croc

    • +2

      What phone is this?

  • -1

Is OP from JB? I could sell my S22 Ultra 5G for $900 at the minimum.

  • Where on JB site does it specify the bonus on top of the trade in.
Currently have a S20FE which has trade in value of $200 but cant see the extra $500 if I go to the S23ultra

Ignore can see it now down the bottom

  • +2

If you cancel the trade-in, essentially we will be paying 1149-400 = $749 for the S23 128gb base model
this is actually similar to this Amazon expired deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/765619

    • Yep, and knowing that I would argue that it is better because you can then stack with discounted gift cards. Also being able to head in store is always a plus for things like warranty claims and repairs rather than having to ship things out.

  • +1

Thanks OP. Traded in my S21 Ultra with a busted camera, and got the 23 Ultra for under 1k

    • +3

      I am glad I could help. 🙂👍

      • +3

Really appreciate the amount of deals you post. They're not all for me, but I always upvote the good ones even though I don't buy or comment.

        • +3

          Thanks mate, much appreciated.

  • Realizing that I'm not using the S22 Ultra to its potential (don't use the telephoto much, don't game on the phone and don't use S pen at all). The size and weight is becoming tiring so considering trading to a S23 or S23+.
This feels like a decent deal to do it with my Ultra being valued at $650. I just remembered I have Samsung Care as well so wondering if I'd be able to use that to trade to a S23/S23+ - anyone have any idea?
Will probs go into JB to take a look at the sizing of the phones before deciding. I could also do the trade in with JB then cancel the trade in, then sell the S22 Ultra myself.

  • Hmm, worth it to trade an S21 128gb to an S23 128gb for $469 after trade in, bonus and discounted GCs? I'm struggling to think it is

    • hmm. My partner and I have s21 and s21+. Both still holding up extremely well. I would upgrade if it's like $100 extra like the flip4 deal but i think no point spending $469 mostly for a better camera (as we do not do intensive gaming) and having to buy new cases etc as well

    • Yep. Not worth it

  • +2

    Got S23 256GB for $652.52

Got Jb Hifi to price match $1125 from another seller and then used $400 trade-in credit voucher leftover from Flip deal and paid via 10% off gift cards from Woolies.

    • +3

Mind sharing which seller price matched with?

    • +2

Also interested on who you price matched with.

    • The agent for me could not match this price as it is a grey import. He did however give me a $30 discount on the S23 5G 256GB.

Not a bad deal though. Traded in my S22 5G 256GB which I will not be sending back and will be looking to sell it second hand. Will email squaretrade when I receive my device telling them this.

Combined with cashback gift card + ebay deals to pay for the phone, new case and screen protector.

Rivals the amazon deal in my opinion but much more effort needed.

    • Just reply to the email you received for the trade in voucher. Confirmed they only charge you the trade in value and not bonus coupon(s).

      • Wondering if you can use the coupon later on or expires by 30th same as the promotion date.

        • +1

The coupons have a specified expiry date

  • +3

My local JB didn't have the stock I wanted - walked in to Harvey Norman, they have the same deal and prices with heaps of stock at the moment. Just FYI

    • Which provider is HN tradein with?

      • +1

mob called asurion I believe. Can check on their mobile app - asurion

        • +1

Wonder how their trade in prices compare to JB. S22 ultra 256gb is $650 at JB.

        • +1

Ok thanks, it's the same with Samsung

        • +2

Fyi Asurion charges you $60 admin fee (on top of charging you the trade in value) if you don't return the trade in device. SquareTrade does not.

        • +2

Ausrion is the same company behind Samsung Trade-in.

Painful to deal with…..avoid as much as possible

    • +1

agreed just went in and got the same deal.

      thanks.

    • I called my local and they said there was no bonus trade in…did you get the 400-500 bonus trade in? I cant see it in HN site.

      • Yea they have the exact same trade in offer. I got the 500 for the ultra - also got half price on accessories and managed to get an extra $50 off the phone :D

  • The missus did the Z Flip deal last week and still had the coupon for the S23 Ultra. Does anyone know if I could also tradein my phone for another coupon and stack them?

  • Thanks OP. Looks like time to replace my Pixel 6.

  • I actually bought a S23 128gb last Monday at full price using this voucher since there was no stock of the flip.
But now it is $200 off as well, damn.
Jb hifi is supposed to refund me the difference but they are saying it is really complicated because there is a SquareTrade voucher. Manager said he needs to send an email and I might hear back by Monday. So frustrating.
I did get a price price with Amazon but that only gave me about $50 off.

    • +2

If they can't return the difference, ask for the difference in store credit. It worked for me previously.

      • Ohh okay. I just left the store but I will ask them on Monday if they say they can't refund me.
Although I paid by gift card anyway, so is that basically the same as store credit?

        • They should be able to give you the difference in a JB HI-FI gift card.

          • @Scrooge McDeal: Yeah that is what I wanted today, but the manager said he can't do it until he hears back from Square Trade.

            • +1

@Musabbir99: But it's under their 30 day price guarantee. So the actual price of the good dropped in 30 days. So I can't understand why they haven't returned the difference.

              • @Scrooge McDeal: He gave me all these weird reasons, something about the existence of the "Telco" voucher makes it impossible for him to do it. I asked what if I refund the phone and buy it again. He said I will lose the voucher, and he asked me to wait because he wants to do it the "right" way.

                • @Musabbir99: Be more persistent, I think you should get the difference. Now if it's in gift card or actual money back that's a different story.

  • +2

Has anyone found any good price match options which JB will honour? TIA

    • Was wondering this too, wasn't sure if I could price match with this deal as it seems like you receive a "coupon" for the phone itself, but scrolling through, looks like people have managed to do so

  • Common Amazon, need another $1500 deal or better for ultra

  • My old phone has $0 value to them, what's the best way to get this deal?

    • In order to get the Bonus coupon the trade in value of the phone should be $10 or more. Some people on the previous post, said they done that but without sending the phone. So they just got charged for $10 for not sending the phone. I haven't tried my self. But that's what other people said from the previous post.

      • Thanks

        • You will need a IMEI number. Which you can not bypass.

          • +1

@Scrooge McDeal: I m looking at it, found some IMEI generator on Google, hope it works

  • I went to the Doncaster Samsung display and could recreate the camera problems with the s23+ in 2 minutes or less.

Maybe the ultra is designed entirely different with better lenses but I'd at least avoid the s23+

    • What problems should we be aware of?

There's a design issues with the lenses, physically

I also have a 4 year old phone with weaker optics and sensor from a Chinese company and yet, i managed to take sharper pics then the s23 at close range. I suspect it's a fault with the software too.

I can't bring myself to pay that much for a phone which may produce poor results.

  • -3

Apparently my S10 has no value any more. After spending $600-700ish for it back in 2019, I'm not prepared to pay that much for a s23 given how crap the s10 was. Even if Samsung were not assholes trying to block aftermarket oled screens.

  • Not sure if JB will price match but I found this: https://www.becextech.com.au/catalog/gals238r128crmfi-p-2141…
I am not too sure what their policy is but its worth a shot

    • As long as they have ABN listed on the website, I thjnk you can push JB HIfi

    • +1

Grey import. Doubt if JB will match

  • Was cheaper at Samsung trade-up for me:
    S23 $1149 - $400 bonus = $749
    $749 - $220 trade-in (S21) = $529
    $529 - $50 newsletter coupon = $479
