Can you use the extra 15% off as well? It doesn't list mobile phones as exclusions…

Haiyaaa these prices are literally using that code

    • Wah lau.

Tempted to upgrade my pixel 5 to it.. Great deal for pro

    • +7

Very happy with the Pixel 5, perfect size phone, very solid battery life, functional fingerprint sensor, snappy enough for my usage.

If they release a "Pixel Mini" at this size in the future, then I'm in.

      • +7

I switched from Pixel 5 to Pixel 6 Pro and immediately hated the size. Sold it for Flip 3 for the rest of the year, upgraded to 7 pro and hated it again for 2 months of using that. Now using S23 small version which is almost identical to Pixel 5 (only an inch wider) and I absolutely love the size. Will not be switching to a phone any bigger.

        • Hahaha this is exactly me! I'm on the base S23 too which is great form factor but missing the Google Stock Android

          • @DaDiesel: Did you try Asus 9 ? Based on online reviews it's same size and more snappier.

            • @bats0077: Haven't tried Asus I think the last gen had mediocre cameras, Haven't looked into the 9 yet.

            • @bats0077: I was tempted but it wasn't well priced IMO, then the lack of updates after 2 years..

          • +2

@DaDiesel: I second that. I've been with Google since Nexus 3 and they've been really good. I did love Samsung S8 for a few months due to its form factor at the time but I was over it quickly moving back to Pixels. The P5 will always be in my heart as the best overall phone.

            • @MKBHD: I still have a Samsung S8 which I throw into my gym/beach bag, it's been bashed senseless and drains quickly but still one of the best displays I've experienced.

      • they have plans to do that, it's notionally called pixel pixie Piccadilly 5.7'

      • The only downsides for me is the battery life and the CPU speed. But much better than the P6P I had.

      • Yeah, I really like my Pixel 5, it's a perfect size and works great, I have no reason to upgrade, other than the fact that Google will stop releasing security updates this year :(

    • +2

Stay with the 5 unless you need a feature of the 7Pro.

I broke the screen on my 5 and replaced it with a 7 - instant regret. The 5 is perfect. I wish I spent the money to fix the screen instead.

(Nothing is wrong with the 7, the 5 is just perfect, including size)

    • Pixel 5 is perfect as others have said!!!

Only weird thing I get is lag when it's plugged in 🤷‍♂️

    • Let us know what you decide to do!!!! Exciting stuf!!!!

    • They'll take my rear fingerprint sensor from my cold dead hands!

Or more likely they'll take it when they pull the pin on software updates later this year…

      Love my P5 though.

    • Pixel 5 is the real OG bro, don't let it go - you'll regret

  • Wondering if we can price match directly with the Google store?

    • Nope, they would need to see the price from their end haiyaaaaa

      • 28° price protection then…

        • Not really if the price is down using a coupon. It needs to be publically listed.

  • Perks

  • wooooooooooooooow.

  • +1

Good deal for 6 month old product.

  • Does anyone own a pixel7 pro that can comment on battery life? I've heard some very ordinary reviews on battery life

    • +2

I have one, with 5g turned off, I find it good enough, not great, if pushed can get about 6-7 hours max screen on time, mostly on wifi, with adaptive charging and adaptive battery usage turned on but locked on 120 hertz refresh rate because I like that smooth scrolling.

      • Thanks @blues99!

      • +1

Battery life is just ok, about the same as Pixel 6 Pro that I had before. Tensor 2 CPU is very inefficient and is a major contributor for poor battery life. For this discounted price, you will not find a better phone, period!

    • -2

      Not great.

Only good thing is the camera. It's a very good camera. But battery life like others have said is poor tbh. There's only so much you can turn off before thinking you might as well use a landline

    • I have Bluetooth, wifi and 4G on simultaneously all day, plus 120hz refresh rate and QHD resolution, and it lasts me from 6.45am to 9.30pm each day. I mainly surf the net (mainly OzB), some YouTube, photography, WhatsApp, banking and other stuff throughout the day. I've had it since the day it released and it's been great.

    • +2

I definitely expected better tbh. It's fine, but if you're upgrading from an old handset don't expect a life changing difference.

      • That's normal, small upgrades for more moneu these days, everything tech.

You should notice a good difference from an old phone though (battery and CPU).

        • +2

I came from a 3yo S20 Ultra to a P7P and am disappointed in the battery life is my point.

          • @Hinee: Oh right. Big screens chew it up, another reason why I got the non pro. Anyway as long as you get a day out of it these days is acceptable.

Wait till it settles in and just have to be aware of things running in the background. Are the specs the same? Usually 3yo+ batteries start getting pretty average.

  • By 'discounted gift cards' are you referring to https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/767926?

    • Either this, or previously bought ones :D

Most Ozbaaaaaaginers stock up for when a good deal comes around

      • Clearly I am not a true OzBargainer :(

  • Looks like this coming EOFY sale, we will get even more crazy deals on electronic products

  • Damnit, just bought the pixel 7 128gb last month as part of the $799 google store sale and I'm outside the price match window :(

    • +1

      They won't price match this

    • Are you within the return window? Just a thought

  • Damn!!!! Just bought Pixel 7 Pro paying $974 from Google Store today morning and got email saying it’s been dispatched, (with 10% store credit by paying $13 for 2TB Google One). In the end JB Hifi one and that one are of similar range.

    • +2

You have 14 days to return I believe

      • Oh really? I still have mine in the packaging. Unopened…is it easy to do?

  • Bought the 7 pro 128gb for $989 on 8th of April. Reckon they will refund the difference ?

    • Doubt it, but you can prob return and buy again

  • What does perks mean?

  • +1

Any ideas on how to use ultimate giftcards to buy this? Can't go in store because the code expires 8AM

    • It should say on your card. Goto the card's website to redeem for JB e-vouchers to then apply to your order.

      • Im not sure if JB accepts them online. I missed out on that mixer deal because i couldnt suss out how to use it in time. I have a feeling they dont take this card online, only instore

        Maybe someone can confirm

          • @CptnObvious: Only allows conversion to Hoyts, EB Games, The Iconic, Cotton On Kids, H&M, Xbox, Zing and Footlocker but says I can spend at JB online or in store.. But unfortunately there's no way to do split payments with JB online

          • +1

@CptnObvious: That site shows the JB logo for online but not exchange, and the JB FAQ suggests they don't take Ultimate gift cards online…

Care to explain your method for those of us who can't work it out?

      • I bought the Ultimate gift cards recently and JB was not on the list for swaps

  • Still rocking Pixel 5. Cant have a phone without unlimit photo backup.

    • haiyaaaaa go back to Japan

      • north korea you meant?

      • -6

Why Japan? And the common notion between nerds that Android is open source - it is not

      • +3

His name is nuker not nuked

    • +4

      Switch to iOS.

No thanks. I don't go into Apple deal posts to force onto people my views. Because that would be annoying.

      • -3

not views, facts. Im annoying you because I care about you.

    • -1

The beauty of Pixels is you can easily install GrapheneOS, remove Google services completely and have way better privacy than iOS. Privacy on iOS is nothing more than a marketing illusion

      • +1

Privacy on iOS is nothing more than a marketing illusion

Disagree. No incentives - Apple is not in Ads business, it gets money from selling devices. People buy it because it comes with free cloud services, vetted App store, real data privacy and long life support. In fact, they recently upset Facebook et al by gutting IDFA. Point me to Apple analog of Google Analytics?

        • Apple is not in Ads business

          ?

Apple is expected to earn at least $4 billion in ad revenue this year, nearly double what it earned two years ago. (Nov 2022)

I don't think it's all that surprising to anyone that Google has more revenue from ads versus products considering they are foremost a search engine.

And of course Apple wants a greater pie of the ad revenue, and it is clear with the increase of ad revenue year on year in the last 3 years. They clearly aren't exactly leaving money on the table.

      • Just set up a private dns to cut out ads:

        dns.adguard.com

  • can this be combined with trade in?

  • +2

such a mad rush to get rid of the pixel 7 range at throwaway suicide prices.
This means Pixel 7A and Pixel 8 plus Google tablet coming soon, make way for new inventory get rid of ancient tech such as Pixel 7 range

    • +1

Traditionally around Easter period is the mad mobile phone discount season for some reason I think. There isn't too much surprise in new phone announcement timings by major brands for years.

  • How do you use the gift cards when the sale finishes @ 8am? You wont be able to do it in store.

I dont think the online store has an option for gift cards?

    • I just used 12 gift cards to pay for my purchase. It's in the checkout and payment.

      • JB gift cards only I think

  • Good deal! I did the free google watch via Telstra but gonna cancel. It's $40 cheaper via JBHi and get both and watch tomorrow instead of waiting however long for the phone then another 4-5 weeks to make the claim/get the watch from Google.

  • Which phone should I get - want to spend around $500 and don't want a huge screen.. Is it worth looking at the Pixel 5?

    • Considering the P8 is only a few months away, that makes the 5 pretty old as far as software updates go… I would wait till the 8 launches, as they're rumoured to be making it smaller, and then get it with a pre-order bonus or something

      • Looks like the P8 will be quite expensive - is there anything decent available now in the $500 price range. My current phone is on its last legs :/

        • +1
        • Pixel 6a is about $500 at the moment. Pixel 7a will release around May 10th and probs $550.

I personally decided against the 6a last year and preferred to wait for the pixel 7 to come out

          • +1

@ozbargainer998: Thoughts on the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE 5G 128GB at $474 vs the Pixel 6a at $499 or wait for the 7a at $550?

            • @BorisYeltzen: The 7a is supposed to be quite beefed up, almost exact same as the 7, so I'd wait for that…might be more than $550 tho

          • +1

            @ozbargainer998: @ozbargainer998 where is the pixel 6a $500? Keen to get that…

Edit: nevermind, just saw the Telstra deal!

      • more than a few months away, all pixel devices usually release in october, its likely it'll get a tease/first look at google IO in may.

  • I paid $1170 for pixel 7 pro 256GB from jb 4 days ago, am I eligible for store credit for reduced price?

    • +2

Buy this tonight, and then return the other one imo

      • IMEI is in the invoice. And phone is already out of the box

        • +1

          What do you mean?

Buy one of these tonight, and then send the other one that you bought 4 days ago back

          • @Uncle Roger: Will this work? I’m in a similar situation. I can’t see an imei attached on the invoice, just worried if I go to return and they scan the box or something and the imei doesn’t match up ?

  • Is the camera glass shattering on the Pixel 7 still an issue? Last I read, Google was refusing to admit it was defect on their part.

    • +1

First time I'm hearing about it, and also no issue on my Pixel 7 Pro.

      • Same, you can search for anything on the net and find it. Probably happened to one person out of 5000. Wouldn't worry about it, O could get a tempered glass lens protector.

  • Bought and received my p7p 512gb from Google store few days ago using the 25% discount code, it is now even cheaper by another $50 :( as I've already started using it, wonder if I can buy the same phone from JB and return it to google to get my money back?

    • +1

Is it worth the hassle for $50? Did you not get store credit from Google?

      • Was thinking the same, keep trying to convince myself that it is probably not worth the hassle :)

Google store credit - do you mean I can try asking google to get a credit of the price difference?

      • I didnt get the store credit as its only for people who already had google one paid, mine went to trial mode automatically which i later found out doesnt count for the credit. I will be saving 80$ if i go with jbhifi. not sure how much it costs to return my unopened google order.

    • Nope, IMEI coded
