Red rock deli is Australia's finest. Which got me thinking- is there another GOOD chip? Everytime I'm at a grocery store it's either red rock deli or some grain waves sour cream. Am I missing out on another good chip?

    • Red Rock Deli have set the bar for chips for me. I’ve been holding out on a deal for this flavour for so long.

      • i actually low key hope coles will do a sweet chilli sour cream rip off in their home brand as the honey soy chicken and sea salt variants are a decent buy when red rock not on sale.

      Kettle chips are really too.

      • +6

        really?

        • +3

          They really are

      • +11

Kettle used to be amazing but the last few years the quality has gone down a lot.

        • +2

Yeah been shit the last few times i bought them. Their spiciness just isnt there no more.

          • +1

@xoom: OG chilli from the 90's/2000's was the best. Not a big fan of the current version, but better than most other chips on the market..

      • -2

I agree I prefer kettle to red rock deli

      • +3

I find Kettle chips has a stale taste in the chips. Red Rock does not

      Tyrell's

    • +1

      Samboy Salt & Vinegar

    • +2

      Tyrells

    • Tyrrell's and Burt's Chips. Both can be quite pricey, though flavour/texture/crunch always on point.

    • +3

Aldi's red Rock copy is my go to option especially when kettle chilli isn't on sale.. I actually prefer the texture.
The aldi one is always sub $3. Last I remember it was $2.40 or $2.60

      Edit: $2.99 now. Thanks inflation

      • I prefer the texture too, just not as much the taste, they are a little bit sweeter

  • Seriously deal $3.15 at coles too :)

    • For $2.84???

      • +1

Amazon often price matches Coles an Woollies.

Subscribe and cancel always works out cheaper as long as you remember to cancel.

Of course, you also need to factor in the postage if you don’t have prime or factor in the price of prime if you do.

Although the bottom line is if you want them right now… Coles wins.

        • My next Coles is 45km away and I visit that only every 2 weeks. Amazon delivers quicker.

When is the best before date?

    • +1

      Not a warehouse deal

    • No, it’s not OOS!

      • S/S is?

        • +1

          Still here as s/s.

          • @Aquastella: Oh interesting I got this:

$3.15 for 165g chips is a rip IMO. Hardly buy them anymore.

If you are in QLD, make sure that you check stock at your Local Big W first in case you get lucky with that discounted deal.

    RR Deli: $17.21/kg
    ALDI: $15/kg

Both are comparable in taste and quality

    • My next Aldi is 4 hours away…

      • +4

        Unlucky for you then

    • -1

ALDI's deteriorated products are not comparable with branded ones.

      • +3

Generally I'd agree with you but their Blackstone chips are fabulous. I've only tried the honey soy and sea salt, but both are on par with offerings from Kettle and Red Rock Deli.

      • Blackstone chilli ones I rate better than kettle

    • +8

I find the Aldi branded Blackstone ones do not taste as good and the "crunch" not quite the same as Red Rock Deli.

In having said that, I still buy the Aldi ones as they're 200g packets at a cheaper price.

    • I've just finished a bag of Aldi ones and I'm pretty sure they're made by Red Rock. Taste identical, and I finished the bag in the same amount of time.

    • +1

Sorry, I've tried the aldi copy and they are nowhere near these.

  • Thanks OP, best flavour out of the RRD range as well :)

    • All sweet! I agree, nothing tops it.

  • pretty cheap but not very good for you :(

    • +2

Doritos Supreme Cheese is at $2.16 with S&S

  • "Usually dispatched within 1 to 2 months"

Good to know i'll have a bag of chips next quarter

  • ive never done subscribe and save before, but i assume you get each delivery at the price of that month as opposed to the price at the sale event? so do people S&S and then cancel?

    • It’s subscribe and save, not subscribe and get ripped off

    • +1

Yes cancel after it has shipped… But I usually just set it for 6 months and clear the whole s&s list once in a while.

    • Yep, that’s what a lot of people do. You can use the feature as many times as you want on the same product as well.

  • delivery 10th May to 9th June !

    • They have to make the chips fresh before they rush them to you

      • They won't be making for me… saved $3.15

    • If you want them now head to coles

  • +2

I don't know now , the rip off priçes have definitely got me eating less chips , in fact no çhips.
Pity but I substitute for vodka which I make so FK you corporate scum .

    • Love the drunken rant presumably from potato vodka. Have a +1.

  • +1

    thai chilli and lime please

I'd never have have thought chips would ever be a luxury item.

Haven't bought in months, and I was a regular.

    • Compared to rent, food is free

  • Same price at Coles.

No way they are worth that much & what's with the long wait..

  • These chips are straight up disgusting, my kid convinced me to get the soy chicken flavour. What an utter joke, generic "roast" chicken chips, with the overpowering flavour of dirt cheap canola oil.

Read the ingredients, you are being scammed. Cooked in "sunflower AND/OR canola oil"

So it's either decent, expensive sunflower oil AND/OR dirt cheap disgusting canola oil.

Gee I wonder what they are going to use 😂 Australians really aren't very discerning at all when it comes to food quality if this is what you accept for $6.

  • It's all junk food, no way the rrp or even $3 is worth it for a small packet.. not even 175g the pricks.

  • The party size chips (290g) was half price only a few weeks ago ($4.25).

  • So my first Amazon chip order arrives tonight of 4 bags. Carton didnt seem damaged but inside one packet popped open and chips and grease inside the box. Another packet completely deflated and most chips stale. Is this a thing with items like these chips cause I sure wont bother again if it is.

    • Complain to customer service and get a refund for all. They're very lenient

    • Ha unlucky, I don't bother with stuff like that, and a lot of pantry items aren't cheap.

Waste of time, packaging waste and transport costs for the extra small discount over Coles etc.

  • Yes I did :) All good but disappointing
