If cargo shorts and Lynx Africa were a person, it would be this thread.

Anyway, good deal - thanks OP.

    • If cargo shorts and Lynx Africa were a person, it would be this thread.

      Lol, I'm stealing this

Would prefer to eat shards of broken glass than eat this garbage

    • +3

I feel you should reflect on your life choices, if that's the case.

  • +32

Divorced Facebook Dad energy in this thread is strong AF 🙄

Can't imagine how insecure you've gotta be to feel threatened by the existence of a food you don't wanna eat

    • -4

Ha! Love how aptly that argument applies equally to those on both sides of the fence on this one…

      • +16

Sure mate, all the vegetarians in this thread are absolutely losing their minds 🤷‍♂️

        • -4

They do indeed seem disproportionately disturbed by the existence of food they don’t want to eat - exactly as you described it. Although it sounds like you didn’t realise it until now…

          • +13

@UncleRico: Champ you've got more comments in this thread than I average in an entire month on this website, if you're oozing around deliberately antagonizing people trying to make yourself feel clever, that's on you, frankly.

Now I'm sure you're the type who can't help but make sure they get the last word in, so have fun with that, but thankfully I can make sure I won't have to read it - go bug someone else✌️

            • -4

@sob baget: When you can’t beat them with logic and reasoning, you moan about how they are more active on this forum than you are?
              So much for integrity🤷‍♂️

As for ‘vegans** not losing their minds’, maybe go through the thread again?

            • +5

@sob baget: Well said regarding the antagonizing people, i noticed it myself but don't quite understand why the need.

            • @sob baget: Champ? Toys back in the holier than thou pram, please.

If you can’t see or concede how your comment aptly applied equally to both sides of this debate, you don’t have to get upset about it with your you’ve posted more than me nonsense.

It’s not like anyone said only meat-eaters are capable of perspective, reason or objectivity…

    • "Divorced Facebook Dad energy" had me wheezing lol

    • Can't imagine how insecure you've gotta be to feel threatened by the existence of a comments you don't agree with…

  • Eeeeh. V2 burgers are where it's at for veggie burgers. Don't pretend that they're meat and they taste fine. I get them on special and use them with egg and bacon on my burgers.

    • Why add bacon to a veggie burger?

      • +1

Flavour. Tried without but it tastes better with. I think the egg kinda demands it.

  • Too many preservatives. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone.

    • +7

To be fair, most foods have loads of chemicals/preservatives in them.

  • +1

    🤣 no thanks.

The company has literally been exposed for having a whole product chain covered with mould, Listeria and other food borne pathogens.

    An entire factory was covered.

They even were shown 11 times to have tested positive for Listeria in just under a year.

I mean, anyone who eats it isn't doing it for health, but I think I'll pass. 🤣

These are being sold out at Costco Adelaide too. $9 per pack last time I checked. They're all short dated, but it's frozen food, so it doesn't really matter.

I stocked up my freezer, as it looks like the Beyond Meat company is failing. Pity. I quite like the product.

    • Did the burgers actually taste like meat?
And what’s the pick of the bunch you would say?

      • +1

They're the closest thing to meat I've tasted so far, and I've gone through a lot of products. Texture is pretty good too. The only flaw is they taste quite salty to me, and some say the high salt content is there to cover up the lack of flavour.

The main rival to Beyond Burgers is the Impossible Burger, but to me the latter isn't as good flavour or texture wise.

Bring on the lab grown meat revolution. All the chicken breast and steaks you want without wasting resources growing an animal around the tasty bits.

        • I’ll see if I could actually try one of those ‘beyond burgers’

Thanks for all the info btw, very interesting

          • +1

@Gervais fanboy: I think Grill'd offer a few different Beyond burgers in their range. Never tried them myself but that might give you a restaurant-prepared intro to what they can taste like.

            • @wavesgreen: Ohh yes and I think they do a BOGOF deal as well, once a week.
              Will definitely try.
              Cheers

      • Did the burgers actually taste like meat?

When I tried one at Grill'd a few years ago, not at all.
Not sure if they're improved over the last few years or not.

Beyond Meat is backed by Bill Gates thats why its failing
just the same way as the vaxxes are backed by him..

OzB post with ESG and/or vegetarian theme = instant shitfight

Checking the BYND stock price, last high $150 in July 2021 and currently $14

Nothing like a cool 90% wipe out in value

Price of the burgers is following the stock price - to zero

On clearance because the soy boys were unable to carry these 1.2kg packs home

Yuck, ultra processed fake meat, no thanks.

  • -3

God don't eat this crap, the amount of rubbish in it.

  • +11

Let people be, if you want to eat plant based, enjoy, if you want to eat meat, enjoy.
It's as though some think they'll convince others to change eating habits in OB, what and odd mindset.

    • +4

      Always happen with vegetarian deals.

    • +1

      Amen

    • +1

I think it's more of a reflex. See a vegetarian, say the most offensive thing you can think of. I really don't know why some people are so triggered

    • -2

It's as though some think they'll convince others to change…

      The irony of this comment…

  • +1

So I looked at the best before date and it says 22/4/23

  • -1

People aren't framing this correctly - Don't replace your meat with this but replace your veggies for the double meat action.

  • +6

The old joke was 'How do you know someone is vegetarian? Don't worry…. they'll tell you'

The corollary to this is 'How do you tell someone isn't a vegetarian? They'll tell you how much they hate the food they don't eat'

  • To save others time - this is not on sale at Costco Lidcombe as of today. Still at the original price of $19.99.

    • 😭😭😭

  • Wow. This thread turned nasty in a hurry.

Personally for protein I eat meat, lentils, mushrooms, legums, dairy, soy depending on what I feel like at the time

Comments like "You’d have to be a sociopathic serial killer to eat this nonsense!" are uncalled for.

    • Like many quick to anger, you’ve clearly never seen the movie to which the previous poster’s quote related. Hint for the Googles - Hannibal Lector was a sociopathic serial killer who dined on Fava beans and a nice Chianti.

I’m just glad that so many vegans didn’t see that as an impediment to getting upset…
