Thanks to this deal, had a look around for some other options and noticed this other kit for $379 down from $599.

Note: Many comments below are stating that none of the products in the kit are brushless

Not a bad deal when the hammer drill and jigsaw alone would cost ~$300.

  • 240nm of torque! Bloody hell! The Dewalt 887 does 205nm and was the leader of the pack for yonks!! Wonder how well built the ryobi one is?

    • their best impact drill has 300nm!

  • +4

way better than the camping kit :)

  • Any ideas on the quality of Ryobi?

    • +2

Very good and a 6 year warranty on the tools.

    • +2

I recently completely a house reno(3 bedooms / new kitchen / knocked down and rebuilt of an extension) using only Ryobi tools. Coudnt believe how well they held up…

      All tools are still kicking!

    • +1

I've got a hedge trimmer, line trimmer, blower, pole trimmer and a hammer drill.
Can't be more happy, it is a pleasure working with these tools.
I suggest to choose brushless models if you use quite often.

  • Anyone near Hurstville/St George/Shire area who would be keen to split the kit and take the drills, 4ah battery and charger off my hands?

Already have a hammer and an impact but keen to pick up the other tools and the 2ah battery.

    • put it on marketplace, will be gone in seconds.

      • like 60sec

    • Id take the hammer drill.

      • Sorry ended up selling already on marketplace as advised 🤣

        • How much did you sell it for?
          I’m struggling with $70

          • +1

@mrgeckoz: 190 for the two drills, 4ah battery, and a 1.5A charger (had this a kit I got a few weeks ago - I wanted the 2a charger since it’s wall mountable).

So I was out of pocket 189 for the three tools, 2ah battery and the 2a charger. IMO fair price for both parties involved.

            • +1

@nickw444: I've split lots of similar kits, not this one though. I get 70 for a drill, 80 for impact driver, 50 for 2.0Ah battery, 90 for a 4.0Ah battery and 30 for the 1.5a charger, 50 for the 2.0a charger. Blowers / radios / fans / torches are high demand items and you can probably sell up at about 80% of retail (tool only price). Everything else is down say at about 70% of skin only price. I'd consider these the ideal price point for selling on FB marketplace. I'd be real interested in the sale price for the bag in this kit. I'd say $20 is ambitious. (yet to test that theory). Depends on what marketplace groups you are selling them. I'm selling to roughly 200k people in 20 marketplace groups and it would take me less than a fortnight to sell all that listed. The least tested/confident is the 4.0Ah battery. It may have resistance at $90. Have only sold one at that level. Fair chance if you list it and it sells within 24hrs you have underpriced the sale. If you bundle things you lose value. Everything is at its most valuable as a single sale (and also its most labour intensive and annoying). Scarcity is also important. If there is endless stock at Bunnies at these prices it will weaken your ability to sell, too much competition. I make $30+ pure profit per FB pickup to my house. The neighbours probably think I'm dealing drugs but its just the old Ryooooowwwbeeeeeeeeeeee.

              • @bluehorse: So yeah for 2 drills (drill + impact driver), 4.0 batt & 1.5A charger I get: 70+80+90+30 = $270.

Carpentry tools wise I wouldn't use any of this shit, only the brushless stuff is worth it at a stretch. Do yourself a favour and get Bosch/Milwaukie. For everything non-tool related Ryobi is legendary: blowers/fans/torches/inflaters/pruners/radios.

          • @mrgeckoz: Are you selling just the drill (no battery/charger) for $70? You might need to improve the value for someone just getting into the ecosystem with a battery and charger as I imagine anyone who is in the market for a drill is looking for a kit 😉 also consider that you can pick up a two drill/two battery kit for around $200-$250.

            • @nickw444: Listed them as kits too. Seems even more difficult to get interests.
I sold the two batteries so far.
Drill, driver and charger still hanging there. 😆

              • @mrgeckoz: What did you sell the batteries for ? 2.0 & 4.0 Ah ? I've found $50 for a 2.0, but there might be a bit of resistance to $90 for the 4.0.

  • Bit odd they don't mention HP in the list of tools, but then add HP in some of the description. Not convinced they are indeed brushless.

    • only the hammer drill and impact driver are brushless.

      • +3

        https://www.ryobi.com.au/products/details/18v-one-5-piece-ki…
They are all brushless except the hammer drill and multi tool.

          • @mrgeckoz: I don't think the hammer drill included in the kit is Brushless.

          • +1

@mrgeckoz: To be fair, the site I linked specifically says what I wrote. I appreciate that this might not be correct, but the copy on the website is terrible. e.g.

            “The 18V ONE+ HP™ Compact Brushless Impact Driver generates…”

            “The 18V ONE+ HP™ Brushless Recip Saw…”

            “Use the 18V ONE+ HP™ Brushless Jigsaw to….

            Etc.

On further review, I can’t find anything that suggests anything other than the Impact Driver is brushless. Apologies to all for previous post.

            • +3

@MaxStinge: Apologies, I'm the one whos confusing others!
RPD18X is the premium brushless hammer drill.
              I was confused between RPD18 and RPD18X.

  • This is a good kit!

Way better than that camping kit rubbish

  • Tempting. I need a new drill and impact driver, and it is a great price… but I’m turned off by the non-brushless drill, and I’m not sure I’ll use all those other tools.

      • I can’t find anything that suggests the RPD18 is brushless - where are you reading that?

    • +1

      Maybe this AEG kit ?

  • +2

    Thanks! Mother's day present sorted!!

  • RPD18 is only up to 54Nm, too weak. You still need to buy another powerful drill. It's a waste.

  • +2

The items listed are mostly wrong. This kit is NOT Brushless. The model numbers of eaxch item show this. The website is wrong. Be carefule before buying

  • Any one want to split around Thornleigh?
I want 1xbattery and charger + multi tool and recip

  • Been wanting the brushless drill and driver for a while, this looked like that with some bonus stuff thrown in - but it isn't.

There are more details on the Ryobi page as to which drill it is: https://www.ryobi.com.au/products/details/18v-one-5-piece-ki…

    • Hmmmm only the impact driver is brushless…. strange to only have 1/5 tools brushless. Good spotting!

      • Nope, according to the link above 3/5 are brushless (scroll down and read the description).

  • Anyone in Perth wanna sell both saws?

    • I'm in Perth but I only want the impact driver

  • Can Ryobi bring back the gardening kit for $349 please.

  • +5

Just bought, can confirm none of it is Brushless.
    Great starter set though.

    • +2

      Yep I can second that.
Got the kit in the morning and nothing is brushless.

      • +1

Hold on. So, are you saying that the 18V ONE+ HP™ Compact Brushless Impact Driver is not Brushless??

        • +1

haha Ryobi+Bunnings need to lift their game - this mis-info is shocking

        • +2

Yeah, I did report it to them on the contact form.

    • So what model is the impact driver?

      • +1

        It is RID18.

Ryobi say that model is brushless on their website, but the picture also doesn't match the one I've got either.

There are no markings on it to say it's Brushless.
        Weird.

        • +3

I think they are all new to Australia, and not listed individually on the Australian site.

I’m pretty sure it’s this one listed on the UK site: https://uk.ryobitools.eu/power-tools/drilling-and-screwdrivi…

That’s the RID18. The AU site only lists RID18C and RID18X, both of which are brushless. The UK site shows those two plus two non-brushless models, RID18 and RID18M.

I have no idea how models get made available internationally, but this feels like they are introducing a new cheaper brushed range via this kit. Which is frustrating because it makes the true bundle discount hard to calculate.

I’m a bit annoyed because I got suckered in. I haven’t gone to the store to pick it up yet though, so I’ll ask the staff about it when I do.

          • @foot: Yeah, that looks like the one.

I still think the kit is good value, but I will probably end up upgrading the hammer drill at least.

I used the impact driver yesterday and it seemed solid enough.

I have messaged Ryobi too highlighting the discrepancy.

        • +1

Thanks, the false advertising on this deal is shocking

  • Changed from Ozito and Ryobi to AEG and happy with the decsion. Soon to start a reno so wanted better tools. (Also bought AEG battery to Ryobi adapter to save having to buy batteries for both)

Ryobi, AEG, Milwaukee are all TTI (Techtronic Industries). If searchning Amazon US for spares, search for Rigid, that's the US brand name of AEG.

Also keep an eye out on Marketplace for reduced new AEG, many just sell the redemption products for a lot less (including batteries) if they don't need them.

  • +1

Picked this up and spoke to the Bunnings staff who called Ryobi rep, they explained that these are US made and that they are not marked brushless but actually are (excluding multi and hammer). They pointed to the power and stated that it will be equal to the marked brushless models already being sold.

There are no markings on the tools or box.

I have 30days to return and the rep is in store very Tuesday morning so will drop by and see what else I can find out.

Got a $10 discount for the stuff around.

    • Thanks for following up. Have updated the post with your comments.

    • +3

I can confirm these are all brushed models.
The impact driver sparks once you release the trigger.
These brushes models do have very close power outputs to the base models with brushless motors.
And all of these are made in China, but probably for US market instead of made in the US.

      • +1

Can confirm I was lied to and these are made in P.R.C.

I will be going back into Bunnings while the Ryobi Rep is there and having a discussion about the misinformation, will update!

Sorry to @jjjaar and all, got suckered in.

        • +1

I'd follow up with a complaint straight to ACCC about false/misleading advertising. Considering it's been a pretty common issue for a bunch of their kits for a while, Bunnings/Ryobi will probably do nothing to rectify the problem if told directly, plenty of customers are probably happily buying the product not knowing any better.

          • +2

@SwedishChef: I have dropped an email to Ryobi mentioning that this is worthy of ACCC. Wil await their reply and a discussion Wednesday at Bunnings but have taken screenshots of both Bunnings and Ryobi websites in preparation for a further submission.

            • @Obfuscational: Did you get any feedback on this?
They've said they'll get back to me but nothing yet.

              • +2

@pauly85: Just closing the loop on this, even though I am sure no one is following along still.. :)
Ryobi have made good on the false advertising and miss-selling, they are sending me brushless in everything as advertised.

                • @Obfuscational: Holy moly! I got a weird reply from them yesterday saying

"Thanks for getting in touch about your RYOBI product enquiry.

I'm sorry, but there's no part that can be purchased for RID18."

Sounds like I need to push them a bit harder.
                  Thanks for following up mate.

    • So they just hoped you'd not figure out they are indeed brushed?
Should have preempted "we are professionals".
If they were brushless, they would advertise it - would be stupid not to

      • They do advertise them (or some of the tools in this kit) as brushless …

        • +1

All the misleading information about this deal from Bunnings and Ryobi is just unbelievable…

        • If they are brushless and don't advertise as such => stupidity
If they are not brushless and advertise as brushless => misleading.
In the case of OP, that's the latter

  • Lol …Ryobi have taken down all mentions of 'brushless' with this kit now!

    Case Closed!

But the Bunnings site still has not been updated!

    • Thanks for finding that - have updated the quote with the new Ryobi text

  • Got 2 sets for $199 each. Plan to sell a few items separately and keep a jigsaw and multi tool with charger and at least one battery at no cost or a bit profit.

    • Wait, how did you get them for $199?

      • +1

I just got it for $199 as well
Just told them my friend got it for $199, they checked with manager and it is a deleted line so approved the discount

      • +1

Certain stores have it on clearance price. But you need to be lucky as sometimes items showing in stock may not be there. I got both sets from Alexandria store but in my local Bunnings its still showing 379 now. Generally Bunnings stores don’t price match other Bunnings store clearance price but its subject to the staff’s decision.
