American's Number 1 then on the origin's its from Japan lol

    • Why can't it be the number 1 selling brand and be made outside of the country?

Bummer it's OOS. Love me a big ol glass.

imo not the best soy sauce, but the most commonly seen in restaurants. I would recommend people try 'pearl river bridge light soy sauce', grew up with this, would highly recommend.

this been the worst tasting soy sauce for me.

You meant to pour soy sauce to the rim of the wok (hottest part of the wok) when stir fry food, to generate a natural and rich brewed soy flavour, and this peral river one stink when you do that. A lot worse compare to other brand like "李锦记“(Lee Kum Kee) or ”海天“(Haitian)

it doesn't taste that good when used as dipping either.

totally in my ban list of soy sauce.

disclaimer: that's all based on my personal opinion, it may not apply to different taste.

I agree, I dislike the Pearl River. Not Chinese, but I grew up on lots of Indochinese cuisine and Indonesian dishes. I've always preferred Kikkoman soy and ABC kecap manis.

    • +3

Pearl River is made in China. Chinese people I know will not consume anything made in China.

      • I only eat what taste truly good. Doesn't matter where it's made

      • -1

That's absolute nonsense. The Pearl River brand is one of the oldest brands and trusted. So much so there have been a lot of imitations in the past to try and steal their business.

Didn't even link the gold premium version…The silver is not good.

  • is there any Chinese around? how's this compared to 海天酱油 (haitian soy sauce)?

That's been the best I've used so far.

    • -1

Scotty is Chinese. I don't think that necessarily makes him or any person with Chinese heritage an expert on all brands of soy sauce though…

      • Haitian does comply to China's National Standard, and national standard has to be set pretty high so that no one would got hurt with those standards.

This guy clearly twisted the fact of "national standard" by keep repeating "lowest standard" more than 3 times.

btw Japanese soy sauce is mostly made in China, by shipping highly compressed syrup-like stuff, and mixture it in Japan. Just like how McDonald's coke machine.

    • +1

Like comparing German sausage with Italian sausage.

    • Never tried Haitian, but Kikkoman is a lot saltier then pearl River or lkk.
I'd only use Kikkoman for Japanese dishes, otherwise too salty for me.

  • +8

OOS. Kikkoman while he is down why don't you

Once you've emptied the bottle, fill it back up with old motor oil for a hilarious mid-year prank against an unsuspecting relative/colleague.

  • Shoyu imo

  • It’s soy good!

  • +2

Has anyone found the Japanese made version in Australia? I've only managed to find the Singapore brew.
