Cheap Vaya Mobile Plans - $11/Month = 490 Minutes & 1.5GB Data

47

It appears that these plans aren't on Vaya directly (I think you may need to login) so I have posted the Whistleout page. These plans seem like the old LC plans before the price hike and they also have phone support which is a plus.

MOD: Link directly to Vaya.net instead.

  • hows this compare to LC, what network they use?

    • Optus. Most MVNOs are Optus. (Few use Voda)

  • It is on their homepage as well now, on the top slider thing.

  • Looks like a new entrant in the market, people were discussing Vaya just a few days ago: http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1962309

  • How the hell do they do it for $11?

    • Probably the same way LC does it.

      • It's only $0.99 cents cheaper than Live Connected's $11.99 offer…

  • If you go onto the vaya website it says they are by optus

    http://www.vaya.net.au/?option=Coverage%20Maps

  • Is this just a one time offer or will it stay this price?

  • +11

    look carefully at "additional charges"

    http://www.vaya.net.au/?option=Additional%20Fees%20and%20Cha…

    disconnection fee: $30
    port out fee: $30

    • +3

that would be auto NO for most people, jeez

      • "Port Out Fee $30.00
This covers our cost of handing over your account to your new mobile provider.

        Disconnection Fee $30.00
This covers our cost of closing your account. You will receive an invoice the next billing period after you leave us."

Does this apply if someone get a $2 a prepaid sim then port-in with other provider?

        • So it takes a monkey 2 hours at $15/h to port out/close an account.. wow.

        • Of course not… Fees charged has to do with what User monkeys are (unknowingly) willing to pay… not the cost of the puted "service"

I clarified with them on Whirlpool there is no disconnection fee $30 if you port out the disconnection fee is if you sign up for say home phone or tablet plan & then disconnect or you disconnect your mobile. If you port out there is no fee (other than excess use use or use outside your cap).

As for port out fee I can see that listed under additional fees and charges only the $30 disconnection fee as expalined above.

does not include international call, cannot beat TPG

  • Anyone find the initial fee? like SIM, Postage and Handling costs?

    • isn't it $20 + your chosen plan?

      • i didnt find any info about this, but i guess it is…

    • -1

It does not appear to be listed on its website but I clarified with there rep on Whirpool its $20 sim including postage like LC & also no credit card surcharge fees also like LC. Same to be basically identical to LC before LC price hike. With the exception that have call centre & per 30 second billing. There website is missing some info but I don't think its been long up & I'm sure it will improve over time & add info there is a great thread on Whirpool about these guys with lots of additional info. Yet another MVNO via Optus.

Not a deal based on the $60 fee for closing the account and porting out…geez…Hiding it in the fine print too…so dodgey…

    • +1

Agree horrible sneaky fees = a preview of their operating style.
      Screw 'em.

      • +2

AND there's a $20 start up fee for the SIM (which is not unusual for resellers I know)

So yes they're cheap, but there's an $80 fee for using them!

        • I didn't realise these sneaky fees. Thanks for the heads up.

    • +1

Wow $60 just to close your account.really bad

    • +2

Fee would be either/or surely. You either port out or disconnect, not both. Either leaving costs $30 regardless.

I still don't think any of these post-paids are worth changing from Woolworths pre-paid, which costs from $18/month base. (29-10% 45 days)
But if you go over-quota, you just apply another recharge coupon instead of risking a huge excess bill.
    And no sneaky join/exit fees.

    • +1

Too right about Woolworths, even better when they do the 1/2 price…

      • Wasn't the half-price just a one-off when they started? I'm still using those vouchers.

    • Surely LC Large plan is better value for ~$18. If you get by on woolworths plan inclusions, LC Medium is only $12.

      • +2

Check the fine print. $450/GB excess data. I had a buggy app download 15GB once.

        • +1

Negging just because of this.. holy crap!

        • lol, LC is more when you go over. LC is 45 cent/mb.

        • But LC there is an option to get alerts when you go close to your cap. Doubt this company will do that.

Also with Android ICS/JB there is an option to limit mobile data direct from your phone.

        • But they probably bill you the $450 after your first kb over cap, as opposed to after a full GB.

    • yep, woolies is the deal.

  • i use the 17.99 TPG package , fits my needs perfectly

  • I have tried a few others including LC and got bitten by their excess usage even with a usage cap of $20 max. No more would I trust them. And now this Vaya deal with $20 startup and $60 closing and worst yest a $450/GB excess OMG. NEGATIVE ALL THE WAY.

  • Do they have prepaid as well?

  • Who are LC?

    • Live Connected

      • they have start up fee for $20… do they charge any closing/port-out fee?

        • No. Just for the SIM initially.

        • that's good. thx~

      • Thanks

Overage $450pGB what a scam. Rate them with the worst of the worst.

Obvious lesson is to keep away from the shysters/unknown companies.

  • I signed up with them - quick delivery - so far so good. Not sure why people are saying $450/GB? Am I missing something? It's only 25c/MB?? Half the price I was paying with Optus!

  • " It's only X/MB "

    …and on likewise terms: a fool & his/her money.

    Here, grab this better idea:-
    "0.9" (ie. after OPTUSWoolworths 10% discount) X "$29.00" (standard voucher) = $26.10 over 45days

    Standardised to monthly terms will mean $26.10 / 1.5 = $17,40 per month /or freely exit;

17.40 less 11.00(plan) would give $6.40 'buffer' for "overage MB's"-arising out of this assumption that from 1.5GB(dubiously set quota), somebody , most probably yourself, will go over it.

    The '$6.40' is just for illustration;

6.40 div by 0.25, gives YOU =25 MB; for about equivalent to 1 clip that's potentially DL'd 'by accident'.

those "spillovers" don't - and cannot - occur on generously provisioned plans, taking 5000MB standard per my outlined example: 'woolworths'.

2610c div by 5000MB, puts ME with 0.522cents-a-MB and then I'm stopped; instead of scammed.
    Comprende?

My max usage with Optus was 500MB/month - avg was 350MB (iPhone 4S and no, I don't tether) so to get 1.5GB for $11/month is already a saving. I spoke with them and they said I can have data auto barred should I ever hit the 1.5GB ceiling to avoid overspend.

      Looked at:
      LC 45c/MB = $460.80 /GB
      Optus 50c/MB = $512 /GB
      Vaya = 25c /MB = $256 /GB

As long as it get's barred, should be irrelevant

  • hardly a deal
