My local JB price matched Mighty Ape for $75 yesterday. Seems inconsistent though, when I asked via the live chat they said no because they are NZ based

84 bucks for a game. Yeah nah…. This will drop soon.
Same price and free delivery with amazon

    • +7

Diablo 4 standard on PC is $110!!!!

    • Hogwarts Legacy is still $89!

Waiting for that to drop as well

      • Great game by the way. On the PS5 it’s brilliant!

          • +1

@zainmastron: Not sure if you realised but the guy you replied to is talking about Hogwarts Legacy.

            • @kamykazi: OH NO! He is too, I'm so sorry! I've deleted my original message!

Thanks @kamykazi I appreciate you pointing that out!

to be honest, this isnt bad for triple A game. i remember buying triple A games for ~100 even back in like 2008.

https://www.ign.com/articles/2007/02/27/australian-ps3-game-…. here is one 2007 article where basically every game is more expensive than this one

we have been spoiled by cheaper indie games imo. as triple A big release games have basically been completely unaffected by price rise in a decade and a half.

im pretty sure oblivion was more expensive than skyrim even though it released 5 years earlier

Meh, the sales volume is now 3 x what it was but you go ahead and pay for new price like a dummy for a 12 hr game

  • +24

Whilst this might be lowest now, it'll be $40 in a couple months, I can keep working through my pile of shame in the meantime

    • +11

My pile of shame already included Fallen Order, which I'd finished chapter one of… I'm going to do the right thing this time and actually finish the first game before buying the sequel.

      • You will probably get bored with having to repeat the same level 5 times.
Apparently this new one is even worse with the constant repeats of the same 3 planets.

        • Yeesh, and I liked the first one too. Between this and the reported bugs, I might be patient on this one.

  • -6

will be at $1 for a month on xbox game pass soon ;)

    • enjoy the wait.

      • -2

I'm not in a rush that's for sure.

        • Okay, but you did say “soon”

      • As the reveiws roll out, waiting will be worth the increase in performance/patches.

  • +16

Heard awful things about its performance on PC, average for PS5. Might hold off for a few more patches and larger discounts :)

    • +7

Never buy any software until service pack 1 is released :)

        • +3

Is this bot just going to be a thing now? Does it have to be?

      • +2

Longer than that. Anyone buying on release are beta testers

      • +1

        This is the way

  • +1

It was cheaper than this back in March (around $77). The deluxe version was also cheaper (around $98).

  • +32

This is the kind of game you pick up for $19 in 12 months time when they’ve patched the game to run at a decent frame rate, HODL!

    • +3

Yeah exactly, there is known performance issues and EA games drop in price a lot very quickly.

Really no reason to rush in on this game.

    • It's pretty awesome on XB series X

      • What is the performance like. I have pc and series x. Ive been spooked by the bad pc reviews.

        • +1

I don't know about the PC stuff, but on XBSX it's fantastic. I counted maybe 2 bugs in 10 hours of gameplay - one was a cloak 'skipping' for a second, another was a texture loading a bit slow.

This is in quality mode, 4K.

    • Why pay, when it will be given free at some point? Just forget about it and it will be a nice surprise for your future self.

  • +2

Almost bought it then I realised I had it for free on EA Pro subscription. Installing now :) LOL

  • -6

An awful lot of money for a video game…

    • +4

Cheaper than most forms of entertainment these days.

    • +8

This is literally the normal release price and has been for about a decade easily. I remember in the 90s games were $100 on release.

      • +1

Yeah lol Greg been smoking the good stuff. I'm pretty sure my mum had to pay $120 for Pokemon Stadium on N64.

        • +2

          I don't do drugs.

      • +4

I remember saving up my birthday money/allowance as a kid to pay $100 for Dragon's Lair on the A500. After getting home and playing it for 30 minutes or so I experienced my first feelings of being ripped off :'D

How could something that looked so good be so terrible!!!

  • +3

    Waiting for discount and patches.

  • +2

JB Hifi Bondi Junction price matched Might Ape $69.

  • Sorry to say, this makes Nintendo games look like bargains.

  • Keep in mind that you can get 10% off a single purchase from BigW a month with Everyday Extras, which would put it at about $76. Not as good as Mighty Ape though apparently.

  • Will this came out on Gamepass?

    • Not for a long time.

  • Any love for my PC brothers?

    • -3

Buy on amazon use cd key return item as faulty because of pc performance

    • +1

Lot of cheaper keys around thanks to AMD giving it away with new CPUs

Or buy EA pro pass for a month for $20 if you’ll finish it that quickly

    • Play it with EA Play Pro then pick it up for free on EGS one day.

  • +2

I personally didn't enjoy the first, so will pass on this. Just didn't feel as polished as dark souls, but I can see most people enjoying it.

    • The first just made me want to play Jedi Outcast/Academy. The on-rails interactive story thing is so bland compared to games with fairly free movement and gameplay focused design.

  • +4

Game is getting absolutely sledged by reviewers even console versions bugged af

    • +1

Metacritic scores are currently 87% (XBSX), 86% (PS5) and 79% (PC).

      "Sledged"

      • critic reviews say one thing, user reviews another.

        • I'm 10 hours into the XBSX version. It's awesome. I really don't know what all the winging is about.

          • @Tambani: Haven't heard anything about xbox perf. I'm on PC, reckon I'll wait for a couple more patches before jumping in. Got plenty of games to play through in the meantime.

      • -1

lol I don't mean those jokers

      • Checkout "SkillUp"'s channel on youtube. I dont buy games anymore if not recommended by him. And he's illuminated me to the some amazing indi games (something i never would have considered).

His 4090 i9 machine ran it the same and his 2080ti. On his 4090 - changing settings to 1440p epic capped at 55fps. Essentially any setting doesnt make a difference.

  • +13

    I wouldn't say this is a bargain

    • -4

Much to learn, you still have young Padawan

    • Agreed. Not to mention the game is buggy at the moment.

  • +1

Game is buggy my guys. It does seem like a good game, but even though they delayed it, Respawn seems to not have learnt from the first game (which was a shocking mess on launch). Wait for patch and price drop.

  • +1

    Apparently, currently, not so great.

  • Came with my CPU - Played a bit last night. Seems like a great game.

      • Only for you “ya filthy animal” ~ Home Alone ;-) and the three that upvoted you :-D

  • +1

I did the EB trade in deal (2 games + $39) but price matched this so instead paid $12. Bought 2 copies of Metro Exodus PS5 for $15 each from CEX.

    • Oh wow, didnt know you could PM whilst taking advantage of the trade in deal.

I paid around $25 after trading in two games I spent about $30 on.

      • I preordered it a month before so I think the system only showed I had already put $72. I don't think they would let you do the trade in deal and pricematch in the same transaction.

    • wait what you could do that?

  • +1

Playing it on Series X, performance is much better than I was expecting after reading what's being said about it. Though might be worth picking up from EB so you can do a return if the performance is annoying.

  • Just pay for game pass pro , $20 and you get a month to finish the game

  • -8

I really don't like this trend of calling the cheapest price on release of new games a bargain?

    • I still dont like it.

  • +2

Understand Mighty Ape has the cheapest price. My post was to highlight retail bricks and mortar stores that people could pick up same day. Thank you all the feedback though, will take online stores into consideration next post. :)

  • Any bargains on a rtx 5090 32gb so I can run this?

  • $75.62 and free shipping from the Gamesmen via eBay Plus with code PWE22.
