The cheapest set of guarenteed Hynix A die I've found for the past month or so. I've just purchased this myself and after receiving the kit can confirm it is indeed A die.

For those who don't know what A die is, essentially it's the best RAM type currently for DDR5, and there is very little difference between the most expensive set and the cheapest. With a few tweaks in your bios (There are easily accessible guides of the youtube channel "Actual Harcore Overclocking" that go into this) you can have this cheap kit perform the exact same, and sometimes better, than a set double it's price. Same frequency, timings etc.

Please note that current AM5 CPUs are capped at around 6200-6400 frequency (This kit can go up to 7200+), So depending on your cpu luck you might just have to lower the base settings by 200 or so.

I'm running this kit with AM5 so that when the next CPUs come out, and can handle higher memory frequencys, I'll just change the settings in this and I'll be good!

NOTE: If you are using an AM5 motherboard make sure to update your bios! As there is currently a bug with the CPU and ram voltages that may fry your system if you enable EXPO on them.

Mod note: Deal was posted without taking GST into account, price updated. Please note when shopping on Amazon USA GST is calculated when the item is added into the cart and a delivery address is set.

  • Who comes up with these goofy over the top names for mundane pc components like ram?

  • Have this kit on Am5 system and works perfectly

  • Is Hynix A die the new Samsung B die?

DDR5 prices are dropping faster than DDR4 did.

    • +2

      Pretty much yup.

    • NO it isn't.

      M die is.

      • +1

A die is the newer version of M die… and it clocks higher.

        • +2

          Can you prove it?

While the initial statement regarding A Die and M Die clock speeds is true, it requires further analysis to determine their overclocking capabilities. It has been observed that while A Die clocks higher by default, it may not necessarily overclock higher than M Die. For instance, an A Die 7000 may overclock to 7400, but the M Die 6400 can also achieve the same overclocking result of 7400.

          I don't even think there is >6600 M-Die
The new 48GB sticks seem like great overclockers though.

Moreover, it is important to consider the context in which these overclocking observations were made. It has been reported by overclocker enthusiasts on the popular website, overclock.net, in a thread discussing official Intel DDR5 overclocking and daily memory stability. While these observations can serve as anecdotal evidence, it is important to note that overclocking results can vary depending on several factors such as the specific hardware configuration and cooling system employed, as well as the skill and experience of the overclocker.

Thus, while the evidence presented suggests that the M Die processor may have similar overclocking capabilities as the A Die processor, it is necessary to approach any claim regarding overclocking performance with caution and with a rigorous and systematic methodology.

I'm not 100% certain, but I have been reading overclock.net/threads/official-intel-ddr5-oc-and-24-7-daily-memory-stability-thread.1794772

  • Waiting for ddr5 prices to drop some more

    • When ddr5 ram prices go back up, this ram will goto $400-450 aud maybe higher.

Only store has this ram in Australia listed, https://www.eyo.com.au/641463_g-skill-ripjaws-s5-32g-kit-bla…

      and there is 0 stock.

      • You can currently get up to DDR5 7800mhz for under $500, or 7000mhz for under $300, this is nothing special, just a good deal for low bin A die, DDR5 has only gotten cheaper, and fast, there is no indication it will get more expensive.

        • +1

If you look at history, the same thing happened to ddr2, then ddr3, then ddr4. So if you think prices wont skyrocket again, you are probably wrong.

        • +1

There is no noticeable difference in bin for Hynix A die. You'd be able to reach max with this kit just as much as the kits youve mentioned.

Builzoid has done a number of videos on this topic.

  • i have ddr5 4800 , is this worth upgrading to?

    • yes. what cpu/mobo do you have?

      • https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/754380 is what i got but ram i got was team rng something only 4800

        • Are you sure the XMP/EXPO profile is turned on in the bios? Or is the memory kit you got rated at 4800?

In any case you can get this kit, but with AM5 cpu/mobo you might have trouble running it at the advertised 6400CL32 setting, and you might have to manually downclock it to 6000CL30 (with whatever subtimings work for you). And at that point you might as well wait for a deal on a 6000CL30 kit, preferably with EXPO profile support (G.Skill Flare X or something like that)

          • @povogamer: im not sure. i cant find info on this ram

            • @Rukiata: Yeah after googling I'm pretty sure the lowest speed team group makes is rated 5200MHz

    • I think it would be worth your while checking what ICs are on your existing DDR5 4800 kit hynix/samsung/micron, If it is hynix it is very likely to overclock to 6000mhz anyway, might be a worth while learning experience and save a bit of cash.

      • +1

        its TEAM GROUP T-FORCE DDR5 4800
thought it would be cheapo and not able to do that

        • Just because its cheap doesn't mean it can't overclock well, with the early releases of DDR5 4800 there were many basic kits of DDR5 4800 that featured Hynix that clocked well.

Do some homework on your particular kit if you feel its worth your time.

Just got this from a QVL of a B650 msi board looks like all the T Force kits that were rated at DDR5 4800 only are micron A die. Not good. However i would still check exactly which kit you have and as @povogamer says please check you have expo/xmp enabled.

  • If with AM5, whats the difference between getting this vs the [EXPO Flare X5] (https://www.amazon.com/G-Skill-288-Pin-CL32-38-38-96-Channel…) ?

    • +1

Judging by the frequency and the comments on the page it looks like Hynix M Die.

Right now its good, you wont notice an effective difference between A die and M die because the 7000 series is limited to 6400 and below.

But you wont be able to set this ram higher than that if you get a better cpu in the future. With the kit in the deal you're paying $10-20 more for it to last another generation.

  • +1

Good news: according to a reddit comment RACER SPEED INC is a defacto subsidiary of gskill. It’s the official dealer on Amazon

Now to see if I actually get a-die…

  • does this work on amd models?
    CPU>>AMD Ryzen 5 7600X, 6-Core/12 Threads UNLOCKED
MOBO>>GIGABYTE B650 AORUS ELITE AX AM5 ATX Motherboard

    • Yes. I'm currently using it on my X670e Carbon Wifi.

  • It says these are for XMP not EXPO. Are there any potential negatives for using this in an am5 mobo? Will there be a set and forget option for expo profiles in the bios or do you have to manually configure these?

    • +1

You can manually configure them, and I advise you do so as youll see better performance than expo.

Look up buildzoids/Actually Hardcore Overclocking on the ram timings. He makes it simple and safe to do.

  • I finally got these today and I got m-die, manufacturing batch 2023 March.

    • thanks for letting us know

You can check the motherboard memory support list if it's an A die or not.

      Unsure about accuracy though.

      For example:

      https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/PRO-B650M-A-WIFI/support#mem

Go to the above url and then search "Hynix a"

      • +1

Hmmm I don't think motherboard QVL lists are conclusive because vendors can always just bin different dies for a given RAM kit

There is definitely a way to get 100% guaranteed A-die which is to buy kits rated at 6800~7200+, it's just costly. You can buy them off Newegg currently but the delivery costs are atrocious

        • thanks for the tip

  • These are showing as AUD $183.87 for me today 12/05/23

  • Ok who's bought and used some??

    • I have on AM5. Working great.

      • Are they A-die sticks?

        • Yup. I confirmed it with the serial on each stick.

  • Price dropped down to 137.71 USD after shipping and GST

  • Delivery is late, should have arrived yesterday 8pm, hopefully just local courier delays.
