If you genuinely need one this seems like a great price for authentic brand new
Know a lot come from packs etc or promotions, plenty get sold on fb marketplace for about $100 new

I got one for $20 new on marketplace

      • wow great deal if still in packaging and genuine. Been able to sell one for $95

  • I found a 2x 18v Makita hammer drill the other day…it literally fell off the back of a truck.

No markings or engravings, no idea how to return it. It's got a few scratches but might be worth a few bob on Marketplace?

    • You could consider listing the item on Facebook Marketplace as a free item, and in the description or title, mention that it is a lost item. The original owner might be searching for a secondhand replacement and could potentially come across your post. However, be prepared to encounter many people claiming the item as their own, which could make it difficult to verify the actual owner. If you witnessed the item falling off the back of a truck, did you happen to catch the license plate number? This information could help you confirm the rightful owner.

Seems like a waste of time for a $500 tool that's now in less than pristine condition…it was already pretty well loved, I think it's going in the bin.

No, I didn't see it fall off, it was lying in the middle of the road.

          You went from:

It's got a few scratches but might be worth a few bob on Marketplace

          To:

it was already pretty well loved, I think it's going in the bin.

After someone suggested to list it as a free item LOL!!!

          • @MuddyClear: It has a few scratches / scrapes & is still functional I assume but I have neither the time or inclination to find the owner & weed out potential grifters, therefore, it's better off no one has it.

            • @The Judge: All good. Finders keepers. Enjoy the free tool 😉

              • @MuddyClear: Actually you got me thinking - I hate wasting things - so I've reached out to the local men's shed to see if they want it. Just needs batteries, but would rather they get use instead of it going to landfill.

  • Seems like a great deal. I just wish makita put holes in them for (screw) wall mounts.
