This post contains affiliate links. OzBargain might earn commissions when you click through and make purchases. Please see this page for more information.

So it's pretty much, free money.
I am not sure if this is targeted, because I have searched for this on google. I haven't received an email regarding this promotion and it says I am eligible.

You will have until 23 May 2023 to earn your code by listening to a full podcast episode on Amazon Music.
The code will be emailed to you within 7 days of your first stream and can be redeemed within 30 days of receipt against an eligible purchase of £20 or more.

*I am guessing they mean when you spend $20 or more

Terms and conditions
• Eligible Amazon Music customers who complete a podcast stream on Amazon Music between 10.00am on 2 May 2023 and 11.59pm on 23rd May 2023 will receive a $5 promotional code to redeem against a future qualified purchase on Amazon.com.au (the “Offer”).

• The Offer is valid only until 11.59pm on 23rd May 2023 or unless withdrawn earlier.

• If you qualify for the Offer, the promo code of $5 will be sent to you via email within 7 days from your first podcast stream on Amazon Music, and you can use it immediately for your next qualified purchase with a value of over $20 or more ("Minimum Purchase").

• The Offer only applies to eligible Amazon Music customers who have been invited by email or push notification from Amazon, or viewed on site marketing regarding the Offer and who have visited this landing page whilst logged into their Amazon account and also completed a podcast episode stream on Amazon Music using the same account before 11.59pm on 23 May 2023.

• This Offer cannot be transferred to another customer account.

• This Offer is only available to customers with an Amazon Music account (excludes free trials).

• Each eligible Amazon Music customer may claim a maximum of one Offer.

• The Offer cannot be combined with any other promotion.

• The promotional code cannot be redeemed on items sold by Amazon sellers other than "Amazon AU" (e.g., the offer does not apply when the seller is "Amazon IT", "Amazon FR", etc.).

• The promotional code may be redeemed within 30 days of receipt.

• This promotional credit entitles you to $5 off a future purchase of “eligible items” shipped and sold by Amazon AU and will be automatically applied to your next purchase of eligible item(s). “Eligible items” excludes products sold by third party sellers including Amazon US and Amazon UK (Amazon Global Store) even if fulfilled by Amazon, digital purchases such as e-books, products that are not in new condition such as renewed products, subscriptions such as Prime Video and Audible, any gift cards and postage or delivery rates.

• The Offer is subject to a Minimum Purchase requirement (qualified purchase with a value of over $20 or more):
if you remove qualifying items from your Basket, so that the combined purchase value of the remaining qualifying items at checkout falls below the Minimum Purchase requirement, the Offer will cease to apply;
if you cancel your order for a qualifying item (so that the combined purchase value of the remaining qualifying items falls below the Minimum Purchase requirement), the Offer will cease to apply; and
if you return a qualifying item (so that the combined purchase value of the qualifying items you retain falls below the Minimum Purchase requirement), Amazon reserves the right to charge you (using the payment method you used for the original order and without further notice) for the discount you received as part of the Offer.

• If you use our 1-Click ordering method, any promotional code will not apply to your order.

• Promotional codes have no cash redemption value and are not transferable or assignable.

• If you place an order using a promotional code and then return or cancel that order, the promotional code cannot be refunded or re-used.

• Unless otherwise specified on the landing page of the Offer or by Amazon, promotional codes cannot be used on existing orders and only one promotional code can be redeemed per order.

• Amazon's Conditions of Use and Promotional Code Terms & Conditions apply.

• Amazon reserves the right to cancel or modify the Offer at any time.

Listening to sugar podcast. Looking at those Byron Bay cookies and Connoisseur ice cream sticks bought in last week's sales.

  • Thanks OP! Eligible! I have never used Amazon music before so that may be why. Appreciate it!

  • Not targeted 😑

  • Got the email

Put on a podcast and took of my headphones and let it finish

  • Listened to the Podcast. 1.5hrs. 10 mins in I am like I'll just google it.

1 minute later I knew all I needed to know.

  • "listening to a full podcast episode" - a podcast episode can be less than 5 min if that works that way

Finished a 5 min esp and haven't received any email yet …

  • Absolutely not worth it for $5. Tried to listen to a podcast and it stopped every minute, terrible app.

    • +2

I used the website and had no issues.

    • and it stopped every minute, terrible app.

I am no problem with web site

  • This Offer is only available to customers with an Amazon Music account (excludes free trials).

I'm eligible but I've never used it. I just started the trial, i wonder if it'll work

    I just got an email.

Your reward for streaming Amazon Music is enclosed

    • @ozbs25 I have listened to two podcasts and they don't track to my account profile. Would you know why?

      • Sorry, I have no idea why. I use a VPN, muted the sound and all sorts of things that would possibly not allow me to get the voucher but I got it anyway. Maybe wait a little bit longer?

        • Maybe I will try on P.C. I used app on mobile on mute.

          • +1

@Scrooge McDeal: That is another option. Still have plenty of time so I wouldn't get too worried yet.

I haven't received mine yet. Am I doing anything wrong? I listened to one episode of a podcast.

      • +1

Haven't received email and listened to 2 podcasts (more than 1 hour each)

        Edit: Received $5 now

Scam alert. I got the email saying I had received it:
You have earned a $5 promo code for streaming a podcast on Amazon Music. To activate your $5 promotion code, click on the button "claim my $5 discount" below. This promotion is valid for a minimum eligible order value of $20 within 30 days of receiving this email, and the $5 discount will be automatically deducted at the checkout

But then when I click the link I get this message:
Thanks for your interest in this offer. Unfortunately, an error has occurred. This could be because you do not qualify for this benefit, you have already redeemed it, or the promotion has expired.

    • I haven't claimed mine yet. Have you contacted support?

      • Yes I replied to the email asking why it's no longer showing and why am I receiving this message saying an error has occurred

        • Lol you’re not going to get a response to the email. Contact support.

    • Logged in the correct account? I have no problem and tried toilet paper and saw the $5

      • +1

I did see it today when I bought some micro SD cards but thought I'd save it for another purchase. So I went to buy some sunglasses this evening and thought I'd use it for that, and that's when I noticed it wasn't showing in my account anymore. So I went back to click the link in my email and then received the message I posted above. Not sure why it's no longer showing

        • So I went to buy some sunglasses this evening and thought I'd use it for that, and that's when I noticed it wasn't showing in my account anymore

What did you try to buy? Must be from Amazon AU.

Yes I replied to the email asking why it's no longer showing and why am I receiving this message saying an error has occurred

          Online chat is better.

        • If you saw it when you bought something doesn't that mean you used it already?

          • @ozbs25:

If you saw it when you bought something doesn't that mea

I think he means added to cart and didn't use it.

        • +1

Same here. I didn't use it in the first place, now I can't see it anymore. Lol

          • @Micky14: Maybe what you are trying to buy isn't eligible. Try something else?

          • @Micky14: Amazon AU only

            • +1

@superforever: I've had the same issue.

Followed activation link in the email and website said it had been applied to my account.

Tried to check out with $40+ item sold by Amazon AU and shipped by Amazon AU but it wants to take full cost from payment method (there is no account credit).

Reclicking the link from the email gives the same error Hudcon reported.

No account credit that can be used…

              • @phantom: Having this issue tonight too. Got the email a few weeks ago and activated it, so should be within the promo period as far as the T&Cs say.

Maybe because I'm trying to buy discounted items, but idk (the T&C's say "The Offer cannot be combined with any other promotion.")

Edit: tried it with a full price item, doesn't make a difference — still no $5 discount.

                • @xtremehell: same here, received claim email May 8 applied to account week later without error, tried to use today cannot see any promotional credit in checkout tried on two Shipped and Sold by Amazon items, made a few orders since this promo started however none are Shipped by Amazon nor their order summary showing any promotions applied

anyone find a resolution to this problem? was support helpful?

                  • +1

@mantra: Mine also disappeared, online chat with them but for some reason they offer refund $5 to my bank a/c (not gift card)

But the final message received from them, not sure why $6.99, I think they mis-understand it is the subscription.

"As requested, I've successfully refunded 6.99 AUD.

Refunds typically process within 3-5 business days and appear as a credit on your statement."

                    • @superforever: Did the same. Took ages to sort as they kept shunting me from department to department. Finally got my $5 refund though. I had to order and recieve my item and then request refund.

                      • @hazzad: Music dept gave me retail $5 instead but finally I got the retail $5 and the podcast $5 both 😆 not sure why.

Not sure if I may also receive the $6.99 to my bank account.

You seem to use the word scam a little too liberally. I would contact Amazon to try to sort it out before saying it's a scam.

  • Got my "Your reward for streaming Amazon Music is enclosed" email (listened to a few 2 min songs), clicked button, web page said congratulations. Bought toilet paper and successfully got $5 discount

    • +1

I pulled up a 50 minute podcast skipped to 20 seconds before the end let it play and for my GC. So you don’t even need to fully listen to one.

  • Oh was this actually 5USD? (wouldn't surprise me given it had pounds originally also..)

My promotional credit at checkout was 7~ something Aussie bucks just now. Can't complain :D

Got the offer - for an actual podcast that is funny and worth listening to - the Smartless ones are pretty funny with Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes, & Will Arnett- it was only an hour but ended up listening and in stitches.

They are all pretty funny but the Bill Hader as guest was great

  • Check the "Promotions" emails that might help

  • What’s a short podcast I can just start and ignore on my Echo? Tech related would be nice, might even listen.
