12 Months Amazon Prime Membership for 24,000 Points & Get 2,000 Points Back @ Telstra Plus Reward Store

4190

With the upcoming Prime price increase to $79 a year this seems like a good deal if you have a lot of Telstra points and annually sub to Prime.

24000 points for 12 months of prime stacked with the current offer "For every 10,000 points used in a single transaction, receive 1,000 bonus points. Use points, get points before 29 May" so you will get 2000 points back.

Bonus points will be applied to your account within 14 days of making a redemption.

I have stacked multiple years successfully to avoid the price rise, ̶n̶o̶t̶ ̶s̶u̶r̶e̶ ̶i̶f̶ ̶y̶o̶u̶ ̶g̶e̶t̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶b̶o̶n̶u̶s̶ ̶2̶k̶ ̶b̶a̶c̶k̶ ̶o̶n̶ ̶e̶v̶e̶r̶y̶ ̶s̶u̶b̶s̶e̶q̶u̶e̶n̶t̶ ̶p̶u̶r̶c̶h̶a̶s̶e̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶r̶e̶ ̶a̶r̶e̶ ̶n̶o̶ ̶d̶e̶t̶a̶i̶l̶e̶d̶ ̶T̶&̶C̶s̶ ̶I̶ ̶c̶a̶n̶ ̶s̶e̶e̶

EDIT - Have already received 2000 points back 4 times for 4 different transactions so you get points back every time for multiple purchases.

    I have 23,739 points 😂

    • +7

lol could you pay your next bill in advance to get the points?

      • +6

You can, I’ve done it. Do it a couple days as the points take some time to appear.

        • +1

How do you pay in advance on the new plans? It only shows direct debit option for me.

    • +1

83000points for me, but I never see anything I like to buy.

      • +3

        you can buy movie tickets

        • +3

movie tickets are always on sale, that's why it feels like not worth it

        • +1

Interesting… I note that the Amazon $10 Gift Card is 5,000 pts but $30 is $15,300 so you are better off buying 3 x $10.

        • Thanks for that. I've just checked I have exactly 5,000 — I never buy stuff directly from Telstra, always through resellers — but the site won't let me use them:

          Not Enough Points
You need at least 0 more points to redeem this reward.

    • +1

      Haha, I'm similar, I have 23,539!

    • +1

I have 23,324 point since before my last bill 3 weeks ago & still waiting for my last bill points to accrue !

    • +1

23,511 here and I'm no longer with Telstra… fml

      • +1

You can still redeem them after leaving Telstra. I did.

        • +1

Yea but I have no more bills to increase my balance. I spent mine just now on Amazon gift cards and stupid stuff for my dog

          • @jaypee06: What isp you at now?
            and how much cost?

            • @pinkybrain: Boost Mobile. I think I got the $300 plan for $250

And I'm pretty sure there was a cashrewards cashback too

              • @jaypee06: oic, thought this was about switching ISP, not mobile providers

  • +1

Can someone confirm for existing members how this will work. My current membership is due for renewal on 8th September but keen to use my points prior to the deal ending (29/05)

    • +18

My membership expires October, purchasing on Telstra Plus gives you a voucher code for 12 months which if used straight away just adds 12 months to your existing membership. Mine now expires October 2024.

T&Cs state it doesn't have to be used till Feb 2025 tho so you can hold onto it or theoretically buy multiple.

      • +6

I've purchased multiples and added them all. They just stack, no need to wait.

        • +1

Same; stacked two 12 month coupons with no issues.

        • how to stack them if I buy using cash?

      • is there a way to just buy a 2-year annual plan?

    • +2

Once you checkout, it will show a code and an button to use voucher now. When you click on that voucher, it will take you to Amazon prime and once you put in the code, it will extend your membership by 12-months.

  • +2

Always 404 error, currently I don't have any services, do I have to buy a plan before redeem points?

    • +20

No it's not you, it's Telstra. Do this: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/13669372/redir

      • +1

        Thanks. It’s worked.

      • +1

        Many thanks mate, it worked.

I received an email with the code but without any link. I used the link below which provided by another good mate, it worked, my current membership extended 12 months. Cheers….

      • Thank you so much! It worked!

I find it really hard to assess the value of Telstra Points

    • Belong $80 sin goes for between 2,000 and 10,000 pts, but people think it’d expensive when over 5,000 pts
    • Amazon Prime ($79) goes for 22,000 and it’s a deal?
    • They fling of random things like Google Home for small points
    • They make some random error and just chuck 10,000 points umspule way to „say we’re sorry“

    What’s going on

    • +1

Belong is basically Telstra, cost price of a service is probably way less than the value they put for 10,000 points.

    • -1

Thank-you I was trying to work out why this was a deal

    • The value is all subjective on your individual needs, you cash in on all the 'we're sorry' points and automated customer retention points for pretending to cancel your service then get free amazon prime if you're not interested in Belong sims or all the other overpriced rrp electrical junk on the store unless it is in 'hot offers'.

    • Belong $80 sin goes for between 2,000 and 10,000 pts, but people think it’d expensive when over 5,000 pts

Because the $80 SIM means "20GB of mobile data per month for 3 months" according to Belong's web site, and there are better alternatives for the same service, (for example the $3 deal at https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/757162).

      • But it’s also 400GB for people to transfer to their or their mates / relatives exisiting Belong account offering great value

  • +1

    Thanks worked smoothly for me

  • +7

No luck here. Got my code and trying to extend existing Amazon account. Get an error. I’ll give it 30 and try again.

We’re sorry. We’re unable to complete your Prime signup at this time. If you would still like to join Prime you can sign up during checkout.

I got it to work with chrome by clicking through the email link instead. It didn't work with safari.

      • Thanks for the tip! Worked here in Chrome after error message in safari

        • +2

Tried all these methods but no luck :((

      • Where to go to add the code? TIA

    • Also getting this error, support said try again tomorrow…

      • Getting error on my PC Chrome browser, so I tried the mobile version of Chrome and it worked and extended for another year.

        • +2

So mobile and various different browsers didn't work for me but finally Chrome incognito did.

    • Mine wouldn't work in Edge but then worked fine in Chrome.

    • Same with me, i tried clicking the email link no luck either

    • +1

Same, I tried on Chrome, Edge and Firefox. Keep getting the same error. And it's non-refundable

    • +1

I get the same error. My account is not due to expire until October 2023. I tried the promo code I got and it gave me the same error. I tried both Edge and Chrome with no luck. MIght just wait a bit to try again.
      So far I have tried:
      Win10 - Edge & Chrome
      Android - Edge & Chrome
      iPad - Safari & Firefox & Chrome

No luck on any and I don't have a Mac to try on.

      • I just tried again and its now working fine for me. From the other replies it was an issue with Telstra and seems to be fixed now. I used Edge in normal mode on Win10. Same PC that didnt work before.

  • Amazon won’t do anything crook by saying in August the price goes up and you need to pay an extra $20?

    • +8

If you’ve “paid” in advance for a service I don’t see how they can make you pay more. All they can do is increase the cost of your renewal fee.

  • +1

    Thanks OP!

  • +1

Can someone explain how to redeem the voucher? I've looked around on amazon prime website and can't see where to do it.
The button that clicked on the purchase page took me to a Telstra page for prepaid phone purchase redemption but the page (and email) clearly state it's an amazon prime purchase.

What link is it providing to other people?

    • +4

Try this link https://www.amazon.com.au/prime/promo/landing sent in email receipt if you clicked away after purchasing.

      • Unfortunately, getting a similar error on that one as a few others:

"We’re sorry. We’re unable to complete your Prime signup at this time. If you would still like to join Prime you can sign up during checkout."

I am using chrome.. I'll just chat to amazon directly then.

        Thanks!

        • I contacted them, and after some "checking", they said it "must be an issue with your Telstra points. Please contact Telstra"

Telstra customer service unresponsive because of some massive blackout on people not being able to make outgoing phone calls. Great times.

          • @redgymhero: Looking forward to it - I got this one:

"Thanks for your patience i have checked this with prime team and this appears to be a false code not issued by Amazon so i advise you to check with the one who sold you this code because this might be a scam"

          • @redgymhero: Completely false advice. Don’t waste your time with Telstra, once you have the code, their job is done.

The problem is with amazon. It seems some browsers working some not.

            • @haemolysis: Honestly, it's a sh*t show. I never trust the customer care to know anything about what's going on. This is obviously a big issue, and they have no clue. Oh well.

        • I got the same error with:

          • Chrome on Win10
          • Edge on Win10
          • Chrome on Android

Finally worked with Firefox on Win10.

I also notice on the email confirmation from Telstra that the code in the email had extra spaces that need to be removed.

      • Thank you for this link. It works on Safari on iPhone. Didn't work for Chrome on PC.

      • +1

        Thanks mate,

it worked for me. 12 months extension. Cheers.

      • +1

        Worked for me with Firefox

      • Worked in chrome on android phone

Chrome in windows laptop didn't work

        Hope this helps someone

    • -1

      Use safari browser

      • +2

        Worked for me!

  • Damn, only got 20.5k :(

    • +1

Yeah, in similar situation. Considering it's 10% points back, rather than 10% discount, would actually require 24,000 points to kick it off. So it is a fair bit away.

    • -1

Optus offering 6 months free for postpaid customers

    • How did you come up with that value?

    • Care to elaborate on how you get that value. You could make your own deal if you are willing to share as I still have lots of points and would be happy to go with your better deal.

        • thats value of qantas points, if you are selling telstra points at 1cpp you are ripping someone off big time

          • +1

@RogueWolf: Damn lol I read the deal as Qantas points for some reason. Will un-neg

        • how and where do you sell them?

    • +2

I am not sure about that. Take Philips Sonicare Kids Electric Toothbrush as an example - 29,000 points. David Jones sells it for $69. And it can be found much cheaper elsewhere. I'd say this Amazon Prime membership is priced slightly better than the fair points value. And if Prime is something that is more useful than some random goods on the offer there - then it would mean a good usage of points. Just my 2 mexican pesos worth…

  • -8

I try and redeem my voucher and it aint working…

    • Try safari browser

  • +5

If you stop using Telstra you can save more.

    • +1

How? I am paying $90 for 100/20 home broadband with 4G backup. I am getting consistently downloads around 112Mbps. I don't think there are many reliable providers with such price.

  • +2

For anyone having issues redeeming it, use a safari browser, it finally worked for me after trying pc mobile etc. Apparently samsung browser works too

    • Thanks! Was getting an error in Brave, so used Edge and worked a treat.

  • -1

So I've just been on the phone to Amazon, and their advice is that you can't redeem a membership code like this for a current membership. So the options are to wait until your membership ends and then use the code, cancel your membership and then use the code, or gift the code to someone else/use it on a different account. Grrr.

    • +4

Not correct. I got an extension to my membership via the code until 2024 by using safari on my work iphone

    • +1

Damn wish I knew this before purchasing. Does anyone have a link to where you can input the code

Edit: https://www.amazon.com.au/prime/promo/landing this link from the comment above worked for me. It added 12months on top of my current subscription
