    No Ozito, no swap.

    These packs are ridiculously expensive….

Bosch blower, charger, and two 5a batteries is $249.

So for an extra $10 you get a blower, a charger, and you don’t have to scrounge up an old battery to trade in.

If it helps..I have flogged my 4ah 18v Aldi into oblivion over 5 years in a chainsaw, whipper snipper, paddleboard pump, angle grinder and SDS drill. Still charges to 100% and lasts forever (wizardry). I paid $19.95 for it…

  • dang I've been nursing a dead Ryobi 5Amp forever hoping one day it will recharge .. would have been great if this applied to those as well.

Get a cheaper one from Amazon.

      • +1

regret getting one from amazon.. it's stuck in my charger.. now I don't have any battery with charge.. need a new charger

        • You don't have a mallet or something to get it out?

          • @Buyingcrap: only have a single charger… trying to see if I can dismantle and get it out..

        • I got two 5Ah ones from Amazon a few years back and they are as good as my genuine one.

        • +6

Mate, I've got a spare charger you can have. PM me.

          need a new charger

Don't you have spare charges from the he 'kit' deals over the years?

      • -1

        They not worth it

        • I found them to be the same as the Ryobi ones, just half the price.

          • -1

@jv: They don't last as long as Ryobi. And performance is reduced

            • @asa79: Mine last the same as my Ryobi batteries.

              • @jv: Heavy use or just light duties

                • +1

@asa79: One is heavy use, the leaf blower.

The other is on the air pump which only gets used a few times a year.

I rotate them a couple of times per year.

    • Take it apart, you may find low voltage cells, either recharge them back up or replace them.

    • I can tell you now, it won't just come back to life. I have a dead 5 amp battery which i opened up and two of the 18650 cells had extremely low voltage, when this happens the BMS will never let it charge again as they are below the voltage limit.

Sometimes cells that have been discharged too much can be saved, sometimes they can't. I charged the 2 cells up separately to match the rest of the cells and then plugged it back into the charger. It took a while but it eventually got the green light and started charging. They will "charge" but as soon as you apply a load the voltage tanks which means they are gone.

Basically if it won't charge it means the BMS won't let it because it has detected something wrong with the battery, you can try the freezer style "tricks" but if none of those work it will remain dead until you open it up and fix the actual problem.

terrible value, just look for kits to sell off the parts you dont want

    example buy 2 x aeg blower kit sell off blower & charger $220 each = $160 for 2 x 6ah batteries

Would of been nice to swap smaller Ozitos for a good discount off larger capacity. Recycle and keep you in the Ozito family.

No love for the RyobI One+ range ;-(

  • The way I read the conditions it seems like you could use a Ryobi battery, but buy a Makita pack?

I just don't see the value in this deal. The battery packs that are offered are terrible value compared to buying a kit and getting a tool too (as mentioned above).
They aren't high Ah batteries neither. Compared to 'dewalt trade in a skin' deal to get x-amount off a skin is better value…. trade in a dead drill.
Batteries are best when buying them in packs, not battery packs lol.
