    • Lucky you. When it fell off the back of the truck the tail lift must have been working, otherwise it might have been damaged. Jokes aside, I would ask the seller to send you the original purchase receipt for warranty purposes ( you may find them a wee bit less forthcoming on this)

      • Don't need the invoice, the TV was in the original packaging.

I also bought the previous TCL 50C715 for $300 off Gumtree in 2021, also brand new from a hotel clearing up excess stock.

        • If you need to do a warranty claim in the future you will need an invoice for the original purchase. Best to get it now.

    • I'm surprised at why it's being down voted?

    • A (likely made up) subtle brag on an Internet forum to collect pats on the back?

    • TV for when you have friends over mate

guess need to find friends first 😂

Why would u consume media on a tiny screen when you can sit back and enjoy it on a 75" screen?

    • Gaming consoles cuz.

    • Save up to spend some money on big screen TV and surround sound system, you won't watch Streaming video on that tiny screen anymore.

    • Sports.

    • TV’s cost about the same price as phones and tablets, they last far longer and become obsolete slower. Tablets are pointless anyway.

wish there's a 40'' version at $500-$600 range for our bedroom

    • For 40" that size and that price range, just get any brand.

Ain't it funny how 20 years ago 42" Plasmas were selling for $40k, now you can't give away a TV under 55"…

Don't do it mate, tv in the bedroom will harm your sleep :(

      • i do not know why

Brain needs to know TV is for sleeping only and not for other activities such as watching TV.

    • Or PC monitor

  • Got my 75C835 late last year. Recently I noticed the brightness/backlight is slightly adjusted (brighter or darker) automatically while watching Netflix (non DV movies) and playing Xbox games… It can be annoying sometimes… Any ideas if I accidentally touched some settings? How do I turn this off?

    • +2

Play a DV movie on Netflix. Press settings button on remote and go to picture settings while movie is playing. You’ll see DV dark, DV bright and DV adaptive. Change it to bright or dark from there and it won’t change afterwards for DV content. Similar goes for HDR10/10+. Settings are content specific on this TV. Cheers

      • I am pretty sure that I have it on dark… Bright is too bright for me 😞 but will double check tonight. Cheers.

    • Do you have Clear LED-Motion turned on in the Motion Settings? Turn that off if it's on

      • I will have a look at it tonight, cheers.

    • Check if your intelligent picture optimisation is turned on. That affects the brightness levels automatically based on the brightness level in the room. It can be handy for well-lit rooms, but in the dark, it can be annoying.

  • I have purchase protect insurance on my credit card however I paid through PayPal using my card. Could I claim it as I bought the 55" for $1050 about 2 months ago. Cover period is 90 Days.

  • +2

Hahahaha bloody hell. I made them price match appliance central for $1 cheaper (1195 Inc delivery) and they were real unhappy about it, delivered it today. Now it's that on sale.

  • personally had issues with my c835 getting random black screens with 4k 120hz on multiple devices. ymmv

    • +1

      Check the cable

      • ^ Yup, even if the cable is capable of transmitting the full bandwidth it may not be adequately shielded from interference..

I have been plagued with random screen blanking on my LG Oled (again only at 4k/120) for months only to discover it was my chair causing EMI spikes which were picked up by the HDMI cable - acting as an atenna.. It's super weird, but is a known phenomenon documented as far back as the early 90s

Chunky premium cables with additional shielding may help, but I just switched mine out with a cheap fibre optic HDMI and it never happened again.

        • cheap fibre optic HDMI

          Link to the product?

            @UncommonName: amazon.com.au/dp/B09YPRB8T8

^This is the one I got, literally cheapest I could find and it's still early days so I can't speak for longevity/reliability but so far the blanking/signal loss issues are resolved and it still runs 4k/120Hz/10bit just like before

      • Unfortunately tried multiple hdmi 2.1 cables. Also on my pc it would constantly revert back to 4k 60hz on every time youd turn the pc off and on. Another glaring issue. The only way to get it to recognise it was capable of 4k 120 was to remove the cable completely and plug it back in

  • I cannot bloody believe it. I knew it would go on sale the instant I bought it (waited months for a sale) but I didn't expect it to go on sale 3 separate times. They're just rubbing it in.

  • Must resist, 3rd time in a row it's been around this price, holding out a few more weeks to hopefully land an OLED deal

  • Best of luck with TCL quality control. Major Audio lag on 65 P725 and shit quality on 43 inch same model with motherboard replaced after a few hours use. Now remote won't change channels.
    Warranty process is painful.
I know model is different but still TCL.

    • That is why I always ask people to make sure they are OK with the brand, like Hisense, TCL, etc.

Try Dealing with Samsung if you think TCL etc are bad. Samsung are supposed to be a premium brand. Buying so called premium brands doesn't mean you get better service or support or quicker warranty outcomes.

        • I am not sure now but they replaced my FHD 60" TV screen for free after a month over warranty.

Sometime may not just support and warranty, also needs to consider failing rate and their QC.

          • +1

@superforever: Your TV being 1 month out of the manufactures warranty is still within the consumers law warranty period so their not doing you a favour if that makes sense.

            • @arsenal1: Yes I understand but their response and support was very quick and helpful but not sure now. Seem failing rate on some Chinese brand are higher.

    • +1

TCL support is the worst to deal with.

I tried submitting a return within 2 weeks, JB process was to first contact TCL.

TCL emailed me 5 times asking for the same information that i provided in the first reply..no progress whatsoever on my issue.

Went back to JB and told them about the huge hassle, they ended up accepting my return and are coming to pick the TV up next week.

      • +1

TCL once sent me a "new" replacement TV that was logged into someone else's Google account.

        • +1

          Absolute worst.
As I sent the prev reply, they emailed me a 6th time….asking for the same info once again haha.

Never ever ever again will I buy a TCL…If jb wasnt willing to refund me easily, this wouldve been a huuuuge headache.

  • Any recommendations for a good.50/48 inch tv under 1k ,55inch just too big for the space in looking to put it it

  • +2

I highly recommend the TV, especially for its price.

A friend of mine has an LG C1, and I honestly think that the image quality is on par. The blacks can be fantastically black, and the colours pop incredibly. I normally use the built-in Chromecast to watch TV shows, and the image quality is great, especially with 4k HDR content. Some of the Dolby Vision stuff that you can watch on Disney+ is next-level.

Though bear in mind that it does not get to the level of OLED screens, there is some blooming. For me, it's honestly totally passable coming from an LED TV. The advantage is that the brightness can be turned up to 11. In a well-lit room with direct sunlight, you can see absolutely everything, but you have to dial down at night otherwise, it will burn your eyes, especially in bright scenes. There is an intelligent brightness adjustment mode that works really well when there is some level of light in the room, but if you are watching in the dark, it will compensate for the light of the TV itself since it lights up the entire room. That leads to brightness going up and down, depending on how bright the scene is. And the worst is: the brighter the scene, the higher the brightness will go to compensate for the light in the room. So I don't normally use this feature. It's probably because my room is fairly small, though. It might be fine in larger rooms without a large white wall right in front of the TV.

The fast boot-up is turned on for me, so I go from clicking the button to choosing my streaming service or gaming in less than 5 seconds.

It has Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision built-in. While the Dolby Vision is bloody fantastic, the Dolby Atmos is OK, and so is the sound quality in general. I thought that with a built-in subwoofer, it would sound fantastic, but it is OK. Definitely better than any other TV, but it is nothing close to a dedicated soundbar or home theatre system. Though I feel like the stereo separation is DEFINITELY better than in my soundbar. I wish it could push audio through HDMI ARC and the TV at the same time.

I normally play my Xbox Series X and my gaming laptop on it, and both of them are able to push 120 or 144 Hz, and the response time is phenomenal. The only downside is that, apparently, HDR does not work with 120 and 144 Hz modes.

HDMI-CEC works fine, and I can shift through HDMI ports using the dedicated devices rather than the remote, as well as turn on and off the TV through them and adjust the volume.

You can have dedicated image and audio settings for each of your HDMI ports, which can be handy for people who use multiple devices for different purposes.

That is wishful thinking because you like TCL prices. The C835 is nowhere near on par with a C1.

  • Appliance central reduced further to $1565,those who are within their free delivery area can ask Jb to match the price with free delivery .I did the same in the morning but the price was $1580 and I used $20 perk voucher,So final price was $1560 incl delivery

Ordered yesterday, delivered today. Got the 75 inch. Blacks are honestly comparable or close enough for my eye to the LG C9 we have upstairs.

Great price per inch, that's for sure.

  • should I buy this TCL 75inch or below LG 75" NanoCell for $1495

    https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/lg-75-inches-nano75-4k-nanoce…

      • Wow. The tcl is way better according to that

      • I don't think NanoCell is mini LED compare with TCL C835 and people said LG use IPS panel, not good for TV.

(Essentially equivalent to C835 with a different OS).

It didn't compare with C835 from your link.

        • The consensus on Reddit seems to be that the R655 and C835 are essentially the same model with a different OS and market (R655 in North America, C835 in Asia/Europe/Australia).

    • If you choose LG, buy it on TGG ebay for extra 10% off.

  • Is there still a way to get this deal?

    • You’re late to the party. Anyway, wait for EOFY. They may have another sale to clear these old models.

    • Fwiw, I bought a 3 month old 65C835 for $600 from Marketplace and compared to my 75U7HAU and I can say I am super impressed. I will be looking at either a TCL 75C835 or Hisense 75U9HAU for the theatre room.

      • Thats awesome, how does this compare to Hisense u8hau, currently the 55inch is on sale for 750
