    Transaction fee kills the deal.

    • Yes but your customers pay for that 🥴

      • +2

You won't have alot of customers left if you don't care for them.
Edit: Exception being you're part of a mono/duopoly for some essential product/service.

  • 1.4% thats $1.40 for $100 ontop of the tap fee of visa too???

    • +2

Sounds like the only few per transaction is 1.4%, which to me sounds "reasonable" on Amex, "reasonable" on Visa/MasterCard and "rip off" on EFTPOS and Debit Visa/MasterCard. But no monthly fees is a big plus

    • But comparing to sqares 2.2% this aint bad

    • +4

Hi there — 1.4% is the total fee. There are no other additional fees charged by Zeller, or Visa / Mastercard / American Express on top of that transaction fee.

      • Not bad at all! Thank you for claifying

can someone explain why the processing fees are a % rather than a fixed amount? Surely the processing cost doesn't increase because the transaction value is greater. I realise credit cards are the same (a %).

Simple answer: it's more profitable for the processors this way.

      1. Merchant get paid in advance and that money need to come from somewhere which involves some costs. To simply put, the bank pay the merchant for the card transactions from your savings deposited into the bank then pay you savings interests and of course take the margin between.

      2. The card issuer need to tank the loss coming from any credit delinquency & the calculated risk cost scattered across all the transactions.

That's why EFTPOS transactions charge a fixed fee unlike credit transactions as it instantly take the money from your deposits, there's no credit risk or borrowing money part involved in it. Hence they just need the money to maintain the network which is not bound to the transaction amount.

    • The fee structure in perfect is determined by the schemes (MasterCard, VISA etc) globally, they reflect the cost of a whole range of things including the infrastructure that switches and approves transactions almost instantly, globally, charge backs, loyalty points, purchase protection… Many of these increase with the purchase amount.

  • anyone had larger turn over using this and getting better rate?

  • @Zeller are you guys still credit checking merchants?

    • Thanks for your question! Zeller does not perform a credit check on customers / businesses when you sign up for Zeller. We do ask some information to help us validate that your business exists — this may include things like your ABN, business address, links to your business website / social media, or a copy of an existing business bank statement. I have nothing positive to comment about Zeller. Their onboarding process collects more information than any other provider and is unclear/at the discretion of the staff.

If you are a merchant that is wanting spend less time on your business and more time dealing with this incompetent organisation for onboarding, this is your product.

I would recommend Tyro, Square or your traditional bank.

Downvoting this deal and all subsequent postings.

It is not a 'deal' or in my experience in the best interest for anyone looking for card payment processing.
