    • Lucky you mine has the dreaded flickering screen issue so the GPU is probably on the way out and massive light bleed on all corners

      • +1

mmm yeah I was kind of surprised it was in such good nick really. That sucks that some people got unlucky >.<

  • Received mine a few hours ago. A few minimal scratches and 95% battery. Thank you Op.

  • Did anyone manage to get a replacement unit? Mine has a disappointing battery health of 35% which I am going to request a replacement unit…

    • Yes, I got replacement unit. Just sent email to them.

    • Hi, just send an email through to the support team and we can organise you a replacement

      • +1

are you going to sell some more of that replacement to public? thank you in advance.

        • +5

Yes, we have another 100 units that should be available shortly.

          • @Calmago: hmm all 100 gone ? did i came back late ? :(

            • +2

@CyberMurning: They haven’t gone up yet.

              • @Calmago: Sorry to be a pain, but are these likely to go up today or just at some stage in the next week or so? Don’t wanna miss out!

  • Mine has a few scratches around the back and also few more on the screen itself. Battery cycle count is 639 and 74% according to the test suggested in one is the comments.

  • How long is everyone getting from a full charge? mine is always dead if i leave it on standby (screen off) overnight from a full charge and it barely last an hour of use before dying from a full charge, is this normal?

  • Anyone having issues with charging the device? Mine did charge at first go but now does not seem to work at all?

  • Pretty happy with my device.

69 reported charge cycles so getting 92-97% of the original battery capacity.

Got my hands on a free keyboard from family who had a spare.

I installed Windows 11 which works well with the surface. Goes into tablet mode when the keyboard is detached. I didn't muck around too much before upgrading but out of the box, Windows 10 didn't work well in tablet mode (probably could configure but Windows 11 is good).

    • What guide did you follow to update to W11? All the ones I've come across talk about editing the registry but I seem to be missing a specific folder (SYSTEM\Setup\MoSetup).

  • Top half of my unit screen doesn't register touches most of the time.
Email rep has been so slow in organising for return, could you help me get replacement faster?

    • Apparently they have already run out of replacement unit when I asked for one….

      • -2

Oh no… im still checking their website 3x a day waiting for micracle stock returns

    • Firmware issue. Check youtube for vids.

  • +1

    Got lucky here I guess:
    Number of charge cycles: 5
    Battery Health 100.0%
Device is in mint condition, cant make out it's a refurb.

ACT forgot to include the charger in my order. I reached out to them via email on Thu, and they shipped out the charger via Express Post on Mon. Damn satisfied and happy with my purchase.

Further, followed @Yummy's advice and also purchased the Rapoo Type Cover Keyboard for $42.83 and it fits perfectly, and works like a charm.

An almost new Surface Pro 5 with a Type Cover totaling ~ $242. Couldn't ask for more.

  • Back in stock!

  • Got one.
Now let's see how good the condition is

    • can you let us know how is the quality and battery life..

it is a lottery what you get

  • bought one, cant believe it came back in stock like a month later

    • +1

Cant believe the staffs are actually working at this time, public holidays too.
      Happy king of Surface birthday!

      • Not a holiday in all states like Queensland i think!

  • Bought one 😮

  • bought one, hope the battery is ok. cross fingers….

  • missed out the first time around, picked one up now. my turn for the lucky dip..

  • Lucky I checked OzB before going to sleep. Another one bought. Hopefully getting a better one.

    • +1

thats a very bad habit, greatly affecting your wallet health

      • greatly affecting your wallet health

        Appreciate your concern.

        At least I don't have to check ACT's site 5 times a day. :P

        • touché

          • @CyberMurning: Gonna install and use Win11 for the first time on my 2nd unit.

            • @Yummy: yup. i keep win 10 on my main laptop till now but for this surface probably try win 11

  • Snagged one.

Actual EOFY celebration mood, now to pray we all win the battery and screen lottery.

  • Missed out on it last time, just grabbed one now thanks OP!

  • Bit the bullet and ordered. Let’s see how it turns out **fingers crossed **

  • anyone get this with say 80% battery or above, what is the average battery life you get (hours)? over 6 hrs?

    • that's like asking how long is a piece of string?

it depends on what you do with it,
      will get different answers

Maybe this will give you a good indicator

      Battery Life
      Up to 13.5 hours of local video playback1 (Wi-Fi) = 13.5 * 0.8 = 10.8 Hrs
      Up to 12.5 hours of local video playback1 (4G) = 12.5 * 0.8 = 10 Hrs

        With brand new battery lol.

        • just a rough maths guess.
don't how right that maths is..
just assume at 80% you multiply 80% of the total hrs of what microsoft gave at 100%.

If the battery at 100% gave you 10 hrs of video playback
then wouldn't the battery at 80% capacity give you 8 hrs of video playback? ie 0.8 * 10 hr = 8 hr?

          Is that wrong?
How would you calculate it then?

Don't think anyone can give proper answer anyway..
since it depends on what they are doing with it.

if watching movies/youtube all time will get different result
if someone just browsing the web
          or doing some office work

  • Ordered one for my parents. Will update on how it goes once received.

  • I just bought one. I have no need for it but I had FOMO for missing out on it last time.. What are people using it for?

    • Some examples on page 1

    • I have no need for it but I had FOMO

Please cancel your order and get a refund.

      :p

  • What's the best keyboard for these onsale?

For those interested, I just received my folio cover from here:

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/142867246802

Very happy with it. Provides good all round protection. Has magnetic closing flap thing. The tablet snaps in to a full size plastic backing, which means the in-built stand can't be used, however the cover can be angled as per the pics, and it does not easily slip down. The cover can be folded back on itself when holding with both hands. All ports are accessible with the cover on.

Will get another one once my second Surface arrives (unless someone else can recommend another case / cover?).

    • nice cover. price okay too i saw similar on ali and about the same price.
for me i plan to use surface on the couch so i just need simple sleeve for it.
      i got this https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005557753306.html
      around $5

then i got the original pen for $30 from gumtree second hand without battery

  • Does this have LTE sim card capabilities? If not do you have any units that do? How about the SP6

  • +3

received mine today, unfortunately did not win the lotto. The battery is perfect, however there is large dent on the edge beside the screen. the dent even has pushed the screen out a bit. looks like some heavy stuff had been dropped on to the machine hence the machine was returned to the IT department and stayed there until now. it is a pity that there is no sign of usage at all. I have raised a dispute on the website, hopefully i can get a replacement unit.

  • +1

Mine just arrived this morning, looks in perfect condition from the quick unboxing I did.

  • +3

Received mine today. 66% battery health with 280 cycles. Touchscreen has spots that are non-responsive. Multiple deep scratches at the back. I've also raised a dispute on their website and am waiting for a reply.

  • received (after mailman delivered to the wrong house lucky neighbour is kind and passed it - thankyou).
    87.5% health and 130 cycle.
condition is 99% little marks near 3.5mm jack and around stand
some light scratches but on the black bezel so its fine.
    speaker ok
warm even when just charging oh well good time now is winter

question please. the onscreen keyboard is not automatically shows up when i touch the Bing search bar for example. i have to bring it up by clicking the keyboard logo on the status bar. is this normal ?
edit. because not in tablet mode. all good now

  • must have dispatched quite a few in one go cos I got mine today too.

    Battery health = 88%
    Charge/discharge cycles = 180

    is that ok?

Other than minor scratches here and there, all in all the unit looks okay? No idea wha tthe charge cycles mean, so not sure if okay or not?

    • +1

Just a quick google search. the charge cycle impacts the battery health. "Your battery is designed to retain up to 80% of its original capacity at 500 complete charge cycles." The bottom line is that you can expect to get 500 recharge cycles out of your battery before it's below 80 percent and considered worn

      • Thanks for that

At this price and the age of it, i guess it’s not too bad. It could be worse lol

  • Just got mine as well, battery health 87.8%, 183 cycles, meh was hoping it would be better but for $200 I think its reasonable.

Got a few scuff marks on mine but nothing too bad.

    • Thought my screen was acting a bit funny when setting up Windows as it would not register touches properly. Just thought it was Windows loading. And now my whole screen isn't working. Logged into the UEFI to see if it registers touches and still nothing.

      What a joke.

Will send them an email for next steps, hopefully can replace but looks like this batch has problems.

  • I got mine but the entire right hand side of the screen doesn't work. It won't register touches. Can't even past the select your region screen LOL

  • +2

    No of cycle 20
    Battery health 107.4% lol
    No visible scuff/scratch

    Time to buy some Powerballs?

  • I just got mine. MINT condition - looks brand new.

No of cycle 50 with the battery health at 101.6%

I think that is considered a win!

  • Wtf, got mine with 90 cycles and 59% health? (28,269mWh/45,000mWh full charge capacity).

Bit of a scratchjob on the back and edges, fine elsewhere.

Did the last operator leave it plugged in and roasting in an oven?
I'll charge it and see if this one gets sent back so they can incinerate it and finish the job =(.

Ticket to be raised when I have a minute..

    • clam down, play around a bit, charge up. and test again mine went up from 87 to 90 health

      • I know, I know I'm just a tad very salty seeing 90%+ battery health jackpots.

        Alas that's the refurb lottery.

  • Anyone had any success getting into the BIOS?

    • yes. no issue at all. hold power and vol up, release power till you see the bios

      • +1

oh so that is bios? ""surface UEFI"" on the top left ? hmm yes i can go into that too.
then i changed the boot sequence to usb drive first. i plug in rufus stick and boot.
i see red line with padlock in on the top part and it doesnt want to boot from usb

  • Battery health 99.4% and 32 cycles. Minor scratches on the back but overall perfect. Installed win 11 and working great.

      • Good point haha

        • +1

quick call the Moderator to delete your post…

          • @CyberMurning: Lol
I guess we are all on same boat and seller might know it already

            Probably oos on 5?

            Anyway, big thanks !

  • Received today, screen had minor hairline scratches on the black borders, but otherwise case was spotless. Battery health was 105.8% with 23 cycles. Bought a Procase protective case and a Rapoo keyboard from Amazon.

Performance is snappy and no particular slowdowns - just like a new machine. Happy parents.

  • What are the benefits for changing from Win 10 to Win 11?

    • Someone said better tablet experience.

  • +4

Well, mine just arrived today. Looks brand new too. And much to my surprise, has Windows 11 straight out of the box. Checked the battery, which showed a cycle count of 2, so it indeed seems to be brand new. In the battery report noticed that the system product name is actually "Microsoft Corporation Surface Pro 6"! Checking the CPU, it seems to be an i5-8350U, which matches the Surface Pro 6 specs. I double checked that I did indeed order the Pro 5, and only paid $199. I guess I can't complain! Don't tell @Calmago ! But one little complaint… even with Windows 11, it seems that Windows still is a bit of a pain to use without a touchpad and keyboard.

    • WOW SCORE!

    • Oh wow now i wish i havent received it so still can still hope to get pro 6

      • jackpot!!!

    • I received mine couple of days ago. Not as good a condition as yours but was Surface Pro 6. Just did Win 11 install earlier today. But noticed after the install on the login screen a random user had popped up. Looking through the settings I noticed this was an Admin user, and I couldn't delete this user account too. Should I be worried? Did anyone else face this issue?

      • Just format and reinstall windows to be safe. You can do it using a USB flash drive and a free tool on the Microsoft website

        • I tried to do clean win 11 install from rufus usb drive but i cant get it to boot from usb drive. (Yes i googled the steps for hours).
So i just run the update from within windows 10

          • @CyberMurning: This usually occurs if you have secure boot enabled, or the USB flash drive isn't working/formatted properly.

It worked just fine on mine, I did need a hub though because the touch screen didn't work so I needed to additionally plug in a kb/m to finish setup
