1 Year Warranty too which is good

  • Better than that 199 surface pro 5 deal hours ago?

    • +1

Not really comparable to each other.. this is a laptop with touch feature and a lot bigger than the surface, the surface was a tablet

  • Never bought the refurbished laptop but looking at price, worth a try? What are risk associated with such refurbished laptops?

    • Great value if you have a bit of luck in my view. Also depends on your expectations. Some refurb come as good as new but unfortunately some will come a bit battered with marks and dings and potentially pretty crap battery life. Not sure what this seller is like but I got a refurb from another seller who claimed "minor marks" and in my view the marks were significantly more than minor. Subjective though so yea as long as your expectations aren't too high, you should be pleased.

Can i get a confirmation from CHAT GPT this is good purchase

  • @NotJustChickenDinner @ChatGPT

Hi Guys, Need to buy a laptop for kids school activities, any deals around please? Budget around $350 mark. This deal is best buy in that range?

    • If you need ouch screen this would suiit very well. Lots of other options if you dont need touch. Not sure if this battery is user replacable but that might be a consideration
Some of the hp elitebook / probook have batteries genuine for about $60

        Thanks a lot @NotJustChickenDinner

Ok got it, for touch screen this is a great deal.
As I am not into this computer thing (but i need to buy some for kid’s school) can you please share top 3 non-touchscreen laptops under 350 ? Really appreciate your inputs.

        • You'd be very lucky to get two other options sub-$350.
Contact the school to see if this meets their minimum specifications.

  • Battery is OR04XL battery for HP EliteBook X360 830 G6 L34209-1C1 L34209-1B1 53WH

  • Is this business class or consumer grade?

    Plastic or metal?

(Have had very terrible experiences with HP's plastic consumer ones, with it snapping at the hinges)

    • +2

Elitebook — HP's premium business brand, in the same league as Dell Latitude or Lenovo ThinkPad T-series. Very different from their Pavilion consumer line.

  • Which is better out of the one in the deal posted here or this one? https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/175663139000

    EliteBook Vs ProBook?

I guess you are paying $100 more for better CPU and double RAM right?

    • +2

EliteBook > ProBook built quality wise. So $100 premium is more than just better CPU / RAM.

  • Is that RAM replaceable/upgradeable?

Opening the HP EliteBook x360 is comparably easy. Five TX5 screws have to be loosened (which stay stuck in the bottom cover) and afterwards, a few clips have to be opened. Once the bottom cover is removed, parts like the two RAM slots, the M.2 2280 slot or the WWAN card are accessible. It is possible to change the battery and clean the fan, too.

      • I think I did that couple of years ago to a different one (looked the same but not sure about the model) and I wasn't able to find any RAMs inside:D

  • Can anyone confirm if this comes with the wacom pen?

    • Good point.

    • +1

No pen. The box included the laptop and a barrel jack charger.
Posting just in case another HT deal pops up for this.

A surprise is that mine came with LTE.

    • +1

Likewise mine came with no Wacom pen, only the laptop and barrel jack charger in a HP G8 box (which had me excited for a second) :D.

Also mine has LTE capability too! Can also confirm I got a 450nit model, screen is pretty good!

  • Anyone received one yet? What's the quality like? Grade A, B etc?

    • Some scratches on the bottom, display looks perfect same as lid. not sure what grade u would give for that

    • Mine was in pretty good condition. Only a few minor scratches on the bottom plate, rest is basically pristine.
Battery condition is 79% with 46 cycles, looks like mine hasn't been used since 2020.

      • How do you check the number of battery charge cycles?

        • At windows command line prompt enter : powercfg /batteryreport

In my case the stats shows:
          …..
          Serial Number = 02766 2019/04/23
          Design Capacity = 53,130 mWh
Full Charge Capacity = 41,295 mWh
          Cycle Count = 114
          …..

So, it seems Battery condition = ~77%

Guys, please share your reports and what other important checks to perform after receiving the laptop?

          • @bluespider: Ok, I went into the BIOS and disabled HP's battery health manager and the Battery condition now reads 97%. I'm guessing this feature artificially caps the battery at 80% and it shows up in the battery health measurement.
So now I don't need to think about replacing the battery anytime soon.

            • @raritymlp: Re disabled HP's battery health manager

Any idea what it does and why do they enable it to cap it to 80%?

              • +1

@bluespider: It's mostly there if you keep your laptop connected to the wall 24/7. Keeping it at 100% for long periods of time damages the battery.
It's just a strange way to cap the battery compared to how other companies like Lenovo do it, made me think my battery has almost gone bad.

          • @bluespider: Not sure why mine can't report the Cycle Count but I used it for about 6 hours straight the other day before battery was depleted with 50% brightness most of the time.

            BATTERY 1
            NAME Primary
            MANUFACTURER Hewlett-Packard
            SERIAL NUMBER 03290 2019/04/23
            CHEMISTRY LIon
            DESIGN CAPACITY 37,745 mWh
            FULL CHARGE CAPACITY 37,745 mWh
            CYCLE COUNT -

    • So I ended up buying one too and I'm glad I did. Body was pristine except for a light scuff, screen absolutely in mint condition and screen is most likely the 400nit one. I'd say the one I got was close to being new so close to a grade A.

  • Can install Linux on this? (Debian)

  • Guys, I just did Battery Report Using the POWERCFG Command (as posted above) and it looks ok, not bad I think….but what are other important checks to perform after receiving the laptop?

  • The laptop came with WINDOWS 10 Pro edition and now windows update is showing

Windows 11, version 22H2 is ready - and it's free

What do you guys recommend? Stay on 10 or move to 11?

  • +1

Mine arrived today. There's a small dint on the top of the lid, but otherwise seems very good. I would even say unused, based on how new the keyboard looks. Battery only had 40 cycles on it. And as in the case with @raritymlp, mine also came with an LTE WWAN card installed, which is a nice suprise, but probably goes unused. Running Windows Updates seems to want to update the BIOS and a lot of different component firmwares too; would have been nice for those to be all caught up to begin with. Especially considering that it seems to have been set up only recently, the 17th of this month was the last time it was on based on the logs. Anyway, really quite happy with it, display is nice. And the fact that it can also be charged via the USB-C connectors.

Just noticed that I have a funny little icon with text in Chinese under my This PC: https://imgur.com/a/lOENlAR Google Translate tells me that it says "C drive slimming expert One-click to solve the problem of insufficient space on the C drive". What an earth is that, where did it come from and how do I get rid of it? Do any of you guys have the same? I am pretty sure it was there to begin with, but I can't be 100% sure of that, or whether it appeared once I ran all the updates. But it certainly was there before I installed any apps myself. I can't spot anything related to it under installed programs or running services, but then again I don't really know what to look for. I feel like it's a bit of overkill to re-install Windows just to get rid of that thing, but I know I can't bear it being there either, when I don't know what exactly it is!

      • Hey, I had this same symbol and had no clue what it was so I just did a reset install of windows through the control panel. Didn't need to download any ISOs or anything.

  • Anyone know if we arill can buy thia at the same price? I have YIPPEE10 code not sure if there are other codes i can stack with?

  • Good laptop I am happy with my purchase, nearly new condition and a great device for the price. For anyone looking to use the LTE, I had to modify a microsim adaptor with a nano sim by shaving some of the edge off to get it to fit.
