  • What models could the GPU be?

    • +5

Says on the website "Graphics Cards: Galax, MSI, Gigabyte, Gainward, ASUS, Biostar, Colorful, Inno3D, other TechFast-approved - all used as often as each other "

      • +1

Cheers mate, I'd just looked in the graphics card section.

      • +2

I understand they're going to buy what is cheapest/available.
But removing the lesser known outliers would massively increase buyer confidence.

    • +6

I purchased the previous deal and received the PNY XLR8. Very happy with it. Has excellent cooling design and stays cool while 4k gaming

    • +1

Same as jsediv, I got a PNY XLR8. Cooler does a great job at keeping the thermals in check and is quiet at that.

    • -1

Just keep in mind that by the time you upgrade the case, PSU, and other things the deal is pretty much gone. Not to mention you have no control over what brand GPU or ram you’re getting. Look at past threads of unhappy customers before purchasing.

  • Would be nice to get a good special on just the 4070Ti. Not looking to buy a whole computer just to get a cheapish GPU.

    • +4

Rare, as NVidia are keeping prices high for retail customers while dropping prices for OEM / wholesale PC builders to clear stock while maintaining a high perceived value.

      • +2

definitely an interesting positioning strategy by NVIDIA

  • +4

Looking for an RX 7900 XT / XTX build

  • +2

Can you add a matx board and case please?

    • I second this

  • +3

Hey Techfast crew, I'd absolutely kill for a great i5 13600kf pc build with some graphics card options! It'd be a nearly guaranteed buy from this guy!

Doing a great job though, keep it up!

  • +4

My experience with Techfast is fantastic. Ordered a 4070 PC on 4th May (May the 4th be with you) and got the PC on 16th. I am very happy with the PC.

    • +2

      This is the way

  • Can anyone comment if this is a good deal?

    • +3

Good deal for 1440p/4k gaming. Otherwise the 3060ti build for $888 has solid performance for 1080p/1440p for less than half the price.
      Depends on your use case

      • +2

The time spy score per dollar is similar between 4070 ti built and 3060 ti built. 4070 ti 22753 $1788 vs 3060 ti 11577 $888.3060 ti is slightly better. You get what you paid for.

  • +2

Just be aware, the included Motherboard (MSI B550 Gaming Gen3) doesn't support PCIE Gen4 as far as I know. There is no Motherboard upgrade options from TechFast as well.

If you are spending this much money, you should have PCIE gen4 support

MSI being very dodgy releasing B550 motherboard but cutting the PCIE Gen4 support

    • If you set PCIE to "Auto" in the bios on this motherboard, it runs the GPU on PCIE Gen4 even though there's no Gen4 option

      • As far as I know this motherboard is physically do not support PCIE Gen4 support (Hardware limitation, you can say this is a B450 motherboard)

So not sure how it will run the GPU in PCIE Gen4 mode…

        • +1

This is what HWiNFO is telling me unless its not accurate? Screenshot

          • @jsediv: Thanks for the info, very interesting…

Of course I don't own this motherboard, only going by the MSI Spec Sheet.

I saw few Reddit post about this and another MSI Gen3 B550 model… some ppl advised this is a B550A motherboard ( see Gamers Nexus Video for details).

I also just noticed one comment in Reddit similar to yours where the commenter claims BIOS set to auto works as Gen4, not sure how though…

            • @Bappy: I was surprised too. If its gen4 compatible, why not advertise it? Surely a bios update wouldn't add support for this.

              • @jsediv: I heard some (if not all) B450 motherboards also can support PCIE Gen4 via BIOS update, but AMD for obvious reasons doesn't allow the board partners to provision it.

For this specific one, would like to know if it supports NVME Gen4 drives as well… this model is the cheapest yet decent AM4 motherboard in the current market

                • @Bappy: HWiNFO says my NVMe drive interface is 4x 16.0 GT/s if that gives any indication?
Its a Kingston NV2 though so basically Gen3 speeds anyways.

Know of anything I could do to test if its actually Gen4?

Edit: Found this in HWiNFO screenshot

                  • @jsediv: You could try Crystal Disk Info and Crystal Disk Mark - to check the reading and writing speed of you NVME

                    • +3

@Bappy: I have the same motherboard and can confirm it is PCIE 4.0 by checking CPU-Z.

  • Where can I buy a cheap windows license? And cheap means counterfeit?

    • +3

Ebay, they're volume licenses, I've purchased about 10 over the years and never had any issues

    • +7

      Massgrave MAS on Github

    • +1

      cdkdeals and may be ebay.

      cheap means counterfeit

no these are available slots of volume licenses

    • +1

https://softwareg.com.au/ has been fine for the windows 10 pro keys I've bought and used.

  • So is the pci-e slot the GPU is plugged into gen 4 or 3? I can see the nvme slot being gen 3.

  • This or the Ryzen5 7600 4070ti deal? Haven't gotten a pc in ages lost track of what is good now

    • Ryzen 5 7600 if you want new gen components. Gaming performance wise; probably wont notice much between the two.

      • Thanks!

        • If you want to upgrade parts in the future, probably better to go with the Ryzen 5 7600 build.

I got the same build as this deal and will most likely use it until im in need of an upgrade and do a new build entirely. Im happy with the performance in 4k. Hit 120fps in most games on high/ultra. Using DLSS quality for the latest AAA games and dropping a few settings to medium/high if needed.

          • +1

@jsediv: Ill probably get the R5 7600. Coming from R5 2600 with gtx1660 super so either one should be a nice upgrade.

  • Is the 4080 pc worth it and any recommended upgrade options?
    HODL a bit more?

    • Depends on what you want to do with it… For below 4k gaming its a waste of both money and power usage.

      • What would be the best GPU for 1440p gaming at maximum graphics for the latest titles with 90+ frames?

  • Where are they based? Pickup available?
How much shipping to nsw otherwise

  • +1

What's the noise like on the AIO coolers? Also any chance of a 4080 R5 7600 deal?

  • Damn thats a good price. 4070 Ti and 5700x can sometimes cost about the same price as full unit.

  • +2

    Nebula where you at

    • +1

I contacted their email support to see when they would have a 4080 build in the future. This is what they said 11th May

We will do a 4080 deal soon, it's on the books. As for now, you can upgrade to a 4080 graphics card for our Phantom build, it's difficult selling something on the higher end compared to mid-tier. I try to cater for as many people as I can.

  • +1

Can we upgrade to DDR5 ?

  • -1

Omg, I bought the same computer in Jan total paid 22xx, paying 4k is very awesome, just don’t know why after 3 months is so much cheaper 😮‍💨

    • Early adopters tax buddy.

  • +2

Do I get free Diablo 4 with this purchase?

    • I think it will depend on what brand of GPU ships with the PC. As others have mentioned (and shown on their site), they use a variety of brands - some will not be part of the NVidia program. Scroll down to see participating brands: https://www.nvidia.com/en-au/geforce/campaigns/pc-game-bundl…

My understanding is if we get lucky with a brand that is part of that program, we should be able to get D4 for free. But won't know until the PC arrives.

      • If we're lucky, we get a $100+ game for free. Don't like the odds.

        • Yeah that’s pretty much how I viewed it as well. Hopeful but also not holding my breath.

  • How good are these pc? Why are they so cheap?

    • +1

They are good, depending on what you want it to do. Real basically, Nvidida refuses to allow retailers to sell much below RRP to the general public, resulting in situations as these where Techfast or similar will get GPU deals and bundle them into a prebuilt PC package for a great price since we cant get the GPU price ourselves.

  • Very interested in 4070 + DDR5 deals!

  • +5

Is it possible to buy a pre-built system that looks like an adult owns it? That is, no RGB or aggressive case designs? I need a system for 3d work, but don't want it to look like I'm 15 years old.

    • +1

No budget prebuilts will offer this but the Fractal North is a nice looking "adult" case. At approx $230 you can see why they don't offer it in these cheaper bang for buck deals

      • Oof. That's quite the simple yet tasteful case. I was about to say it looks very Scandanavian…then I scrolled down and saw they are indeed from Sweden - makes sense. Thanks for sharing!

      • It’s quite noisy from when I’ve read though? Being quite open.

    • Once you have a good case you can keep it going for decades. I have a Lian Li - PC-P80B from 2008 and a Lian Li - PC-P80N from 2011 (both can fit 4090 without any issues - fridge size cases). Find a case that suits your adulting ways, and then when you buy something like this, you only need to rip the guts out and transfer it to your existing case.

  • I'm looking for a 4070Ti, but am unwilling to spend $1200+. If I was to swap the GPU in this for my current 1070, what do you think I could onsell the box for? Looking at deals like the $888 3060Ti, I guess the answer is 'not enough to make it worth it'. Guess I'll be twiddling my thumbs for a while longer.

Unsure how its possible to build and test this box, minus the GPU, for around $600, and make any margin? Of course system builders can negotiate prices if they buy in volume, but I had always understood margins were pretty thin to start with.

    • +1

The issue is Nvidia don't allow resellers to sell much below the RRP but they will do deals with computer part suppliers who can then bundle the GPU into a prebuilt PC to make affordable options for the public - which is what you are seeing here.
Unsure if you would make the money back selling the box, you should look into the 7900XT on Amazon for $850.

      • Got a link for that? I'm not seeing anything for under $1200. 6900XT maybe? A bit thirsty / hot for my mITX case I think.

        • Yeah, where is our $850 7900XT's at? Unless he is talking USD on an Aussie bargain site, lol.

        • Sorry am an idiot it was the US price

  • Anyone know whether this would be a good rig to emulate with? Specifically the new Zelda? I know emulation is mostly CPU dependent, would this stack up?

  • What's current lead time on these? I don't want to wait 4 weeks.

  • Ordered an almost identical system on 11 Mar 2023. It arrived on 17 April (Sydney metro), but the graphics card was not working. It took about two weeks of back and forth of emails, testing on my side and uploading photos for them to confirm that I should send the graphics card back. Then they sent me an empty box (one week delivery) so that I could send them the card, and told me to wait for the return to arrive with them before they would decide what to do next. This will probably take another week to arrive and at least another week before a replacement is delivered…

Long story short, if anything goes wrong, it takes months to get things sorted…

I'm a bit disappointed they wouldn't send me a replacement card straight away.

To be fair though, I had ordered with them before in 2020. Back then the delivery took some 3 weeks and everything worked perfectly.

        Are you for real?

        • Are you for real?

          • -1

@Aureus: Are you bothered by yet another indecisive OP that posts about whether a deal is really worth it because it could be even cheaper in ~19 weeks time ?

            • @[Deactivated]: No I am not. Just think you were being a bit dramatic. No offense intended.

              • @Aureus: lol - try the 'my cashback didn't work' posts for a touch of drama

  • is EOFYS 1.5mths advance? :o
