        That's their advertised speed

        • +5

That's just to cover their ass.
You'll likely get more than this.

    • its normal in that all of the main players have the same 600 advertised

      • +1

Yes, after the ACCC got involved for misleading advertised speeds.

    • -1

      It literally is Lightspeed…

    • 600/42 is Superloops average speed from 7pm-11pm. You can hit around 920-950Mbps during those times if there is enough capacity.

  • +1

I just signed up from this moving from 1000/50 from ABB. Within 20 mins of signing up i was switched over with an outage of 5 mins.

A question - how much static IP work with superloop? How do you request one?

    Thanks

    • I just switched to SL from ABB, you can manage static IP from your new account page, manage my service, change IP address (haven't tried yet)

    • how much static IP work with superloop?

      $5 per month

  • +1

Looks like the switch is activated for me. I'm getting 900 down

  • I'm getting 350 download, anyone know why? I'm on fttp. Getting 47 upload. I was on Leaptel 500 download, would haveing that ave something to do with it?

    • I'm in the exact same situation as you. Very weird.

      • connected via gigabit ethernet? What's your router?

        • Fortigate 30E
Should be capable, it did 500+ on Leaptel fine.

        • Yeah I've got cat 7 Ethernet cables, my router is a Archer ax10

          • @Bargainhunter365: Enable TP-Link QoS.
            Download: 990Mbps.
            Upload: 48Mbps.
            Save changes.

            Double check Leaptel is cancelled.

            • +1

@Twix: I've found router QoS slows things down. Most routers can't do QoS up to Gigabit.
I've got a Managed Switch instead which does the QoS

              • @cyrax83: Yep depends on the router specs. It is recommended to shape the upload to 48Mbps. If you don't your upload speeds will suffer.

            • +2

@Twix: FWIW, you literally can't have a Leaptel and Superloop gigabit plan connected at the same time. The NTD does not support it.

              • @Yekul: Yep I know it's 1 x Gigabit service per household. I read the wrong speeds.

  • +1

Must be high traffic? Their website crashes when I try and 'check address' Tried Chrome, Incognito, Firefox and on my phone. rip

  • +1

Looks like they having some issues now. I just opted out of CNat and lost partial connectivity. Tried restarting mod and router. Can access a few websites but not all.

On hold at the moment with their technical support

  • +4

Signed up last night and it transferred in half an hour. Getting speeds of 940/20 atm and my ping is down to 100ms again in games whereas it used to be 200ms before on more telecom.

    • +1

Yep, I've been told their ping times are excellent.

    • I'm the same as you, the router [smart modem] i believe it's causing our half upload speed. The qos is crap.

      • Factory reset the Telstra SM to fix your upload.

        • +1

Thanks , i will shortly.. need to copy down all the ip leases i setup for everything first.

        • Update - i tried that out and it's exactly the same speed it was prior to doing the factory reset

  • Going to swap from Launtel these prices are pretty good to not pass up.

    • I'm seriously entertaining the idea of moving from Origin (ABB).
I thought $134/m was good but this is excellent.

  • +2

Did the jump from ABB. I had been thinking of switching to Launtel but hard to pass up on this one at this price…. All up it took about 45 mins to an hour from signing up to activation of SuperLoop and deactivation of ABB.

  • Just noticed you need to give them 30 days cancellation notice.
I also read the following: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/user/458183

    • sure there's no limit so you can just when signing up to just put the cancellation date when the 6 month promo ends win-win.

I think I'll stay where I am for the meantime after reading that.

        • Kind of wild, Superloop was or used to be top tier a few years ago when I was with them. Do they use vocus now? Kinda weird as they publish their cvc and say they manage their own backhaul.

          • @josh3003: Well, it's because they still do manage their own backhaul. From my testing most if not all routes overseas go pretty direct through their own servers (at least to the first hop in the destination country and perhaps handed off to a local provider once there), and at least for me all US traffic is direct from Sydney to Los Angeles and not through NZ but I'm happy to be proven otherwise

            Also from the horse's mouth:

For those having the "check address" problem on their website currently, I was able to get it to work but doing the check address at the very bottom of the webpage. Not sure why, but was able to successfully get through to check out. Hope it helps!

Are we using the referral system when signing up?

I'm looking at changing to superloop and was not sure if it would allow this plan/ deal plus someone's referral

  • Thanks Superloop for charging customers the old 140 a month still while they change the plan cost for new customers THANKS BOYS ffs.

  • +1

Switched between Superloop and ABB multiple times over the years and always found Superloops speed lacking compared to ABB.

  • Superloop sure know how to win me back.

  • +1

Here I am with superloop paying $89 for FTTN 100mbps and I'm lucky if I can get 85mbps 😪

  • anyone had issues with activation? ordered 30 mins ago and it still stuck at "Order placed with NBN Co - to be advised"

    • nvm it worked now. took about 40 mins. getting 350mbps on speed test :/

      • What kind of router are you using?
Also FTTP and are you testing on WiFi?

        • I am on HFC and using wifi with router Archer AX23 | AX1800.

      • Mine was like that for the first couple hours. Seems like to be 900+ now though.

  • I churned today. Very easy. Just 2 minutes downtime. Down speeds have been 500 to 900.

    • Did you need to make any changes to your router/settings?

      • I clicked DHCP release and DHCP renew, then instantly started working. There are no other settings required (I'm on hfc)

        • +1

My router had TPG settings so I had to delete all. Found the help here if it helps anyone - https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/thread/36p2pxm3

Side note: My top speed is showing as around 700mbps only at this stage, 692mbps to be exact. Will give it a try and see how it goes next few days.

  • -5

I'm not making any changes to my account.

I'm locked in to 100/40 $80/month so I'm not calling them for anything

    • +2

I'm genuinely curious about your thought process when you decided to let the world know of your decision to not take up this offer.

      • Well for anyone already with superloop, it's probably more of a note that they should check what price their current plan is locked to before they go thinking they get an upgrade that will result in a much higher price further down the track.

        • Perhaps it's the way you've worded your post that made it sound a bit "me"-centric and it's coming across as odd, that's all. Also, it's 1000/50 vs your 100/40. Quite a speed difference…

I'm currently on the 1000/50 for $119.95/month but it only gives me 3TB allowance per month. The newer plan makes more sense as it's a discount for 6 months and moving forward (95c saved per month) - but more importantly, it'll be unlimited data.

          • @Munki: $80 a month for 100/40

            2017 speeds.

1000/50 for only $20 more a month is an utter no-brainer as long as your NBN connection supports it…

            • @TheCandyMan2020: And at the end of it I'll be at $135/month.
To drop back to 100/40 then becomes 95/month.
I don't want to churn repeatedly and i require ipv6 and have a $0/month static ip

        • You’re on a 100 plan. This is 1000. Don’t compare them

  • I am on Telstra 5G home Plan and it seems this deal might a little bit faster than my current 5G home due to eligible for upgrade to FTTP…

    • +4

FTTP 1000 will be considerably quicker/more reliable than 5G

  • I called SuperLoop up and they changed my plan onto this new 99$ p/month from my exsisting 1000/50 plan which is a considerable saving. So as per a few other comments, it is not only for for new customers.

    • Are you sure? I was told it was not possible unless I wanted to sign up to a "new" service. They couldn't just simply change my plan (1000/50 with 3TB data per month) over to the new one. I was talking to someone from retention too. They told me to just sign up over with Sales if I wanted the new plan.

      • I knew it!
I asked the mongs on chat if there is still a 3TB data cap and they said SL never had a data cap on their plans.

        • Yeah the girl I spoke to didn't know the grandfathered plan had a 3TB monthly limit too…

      • Yeah, I was on the OG 3TB cap plan. I was I guess for lack of better terms signed upto a 'new service'.

They tried to sell me a $20 discount, however I said I was going to look at my options and cancel my account and go elsewhere so I can take advantage of a plan like this next time.

They had to cancel my current plan and sign me up again along with obtaining all my details again and payment details. Apparently I need to be removed off the old system and brought into the new platform which allows you access to the app etc.

Takes effect at the end of my current billing period.

I transferred over from Leaptel (500/25) today to this offer. Was getting 267Mbps down 23Mbps up. With Superloop I am now getting 325Mbps down and 46Mbps up. Such a small increase wondering if I need to change any configuration on my router (ASUS ZenWiFi XT8) which does have a 1Gbps port?

    • Hi mate, did you have to cancel with leaptel first or give them notice as they say on their website? or it just automatically cancel once superloop is connected. I'm with leaptel just wondering how to go about it.

      • +1

Just sign up to Superloop. Leaptel will get notified.

        • Yep Leaptel cancelled without me having to contact them.

    • Crap routers will provide slow throughput, mainly because they have smaller buffers

also unless your running Wi-Fi 6, your Wi-Fi will be a heavy bottle neck.

      So always test over cable.

  • Just got my invoice from ABB for another month, due on 6 June. If I switch to SL now, how much ABB would charge me on the 6th?

    • Phone Aussie BB to get a pro rata refund.

  • Interested on thoughts of people who have gone from Aussie BB 1000/50 to Superloop same speed

Aussie BB standard price is $149. Called them today and told them I was churning to the $99 Superloop plan - Aussie instantly dropped their price to $129 for 12 months (matching their offer for new customers).

Nevertheless still considering switching to the Superloop but it may be better the devil I know…

    • -1

I was in the same position until I found the link I pasted earlier. Don't fix what's not broken.

      • +1

You pasted a lot of links, some from a discredited network engineer who was spouting incorrect info… Another about a 3TB cap which doesnt apply to these new plans.

I dont think Superloop will be as good as ABB, but $99.95 vs $129 per month is $174.30 savings over the first six months….

    • Yeah I’d go SL.

  • +1

Churned from Exetel took approx 40 mins
Great speeds so far around 800-900 peak time on HFC

    • Yo fumoff88, how so quick? I ordered this morning at 10am and still waiting…
What is your client ID? Would love to hear how you got processed so fast.
You HFC or what? Cheers, Sean

      • Reboot your router, you need a dhcp renewal

      • If you ordered this morning and nothing has happened you need to follow up with them man. I signed up at 4 and was done around 40 mins. Yeh on HFC - got a SMS said it was done and rebooted my modem and all working

        • I had to call the provisioning team on 1800 578 737 as my order had not moved since yesterday either.

edit: After making the call I was connected within 15 minutes. Current speedtest results:

FYI Superloop seems to have gone through some sort of rebranding, possibly after their acquisition of Exetel.

Their support staff is no longer fully local I think, I managed to hit some off shore staff when I went to ask where the Self help tools in the old Superloop User Dashboard was (where you could disconnect yourself, NTD resets etc) - they told me as part of the transition to their Superhub those tools will no longer be available and have no plans on bringing them back.

Their CVC graphs are no longer available to users when I asked via Live Chat

    • I called up their help line and it was local today. YMMV I guess

    • +1

Suplerloops Technical Support is in the Adelaide call centre.
When you ask for support it goes to Adelaide.

Sales/Retention and everything else is done from the Exetel call centre in Sri Lanka.

      Superloop - support moved overseas?!

      • I called their 1800 number earlier today (sales) to ask a couple of questions. Definitely overseas.
When I said I would call back later, they gave me a 13 number, which when I searched for it, was Exetel's number

  • Been looking for a reason to ditch my Vodafone 1000/50 plan, which I've been on for ~3 years. This is cheaper, and likely better. Hopefully this deal is still around in a couple of months when I'll be ready to make the change.

  • I wonder how long this deal will last?

    • Think it ends on 30th june

  • How long does activation normally take? I ordered 57 minutes ago and no reply. Phone lines are closed as well.
