Do you need to call your previous provider to cancel your current plan(ABB), also do they have static IP option? Couldnt seem to find on the quote page
Very tempting as $50 cheaper per month than ABB (and $30 after the promotion)

    • Do you need to call your previous provider to cancel your current plan(ABB), …No

also do they have static IP option? Couldnt seem to find on the quote page. … They used to, but I don't think so any more

Very tempting as $50 cheaper per month than ABB (and $30 after the promotion)…. That was my tipping point 🙏

        Thanks for the reply.
I ended up signed up with them about 45 mins ago and got service connected now. Pretty good.
ABB also send me a sms saying sorry to see you go etc

        • Also CGNAT opted out from portal effective immediately. Pretty good

      • +2

You do have to call your previous provider if you are on FTTP

        • im FTTC with exetel, do i need to call them to cancel or just sign up to superloop on the FTTP-upgrade scheme which my address shows available

          • +1

@TwentyTwoCarats: No need to call Exetel. SL gets activated on FTTC while you wait for FTTP to be installed.

            • @Twix: Sounds pretty seamless to me. Exetel got me to buy a $130 ZTE H1600 device - will that same thing work for FTTP on Superloop?

I'm pretty sure there's remote-managed device config applied to it by Exetel, so I'd have to factory reset and let Superloop apply their remote config?

              • +1

@TwentyTwoCarats: Exetel can remote manage the ZTE so factory reset it. Apparently if you login to the ZTE admin account you can swap the WAN to IPoE needed for Superloop. Do you have another router you can use?

                • +1

@Twix: I do not have another router, would prefer to spend no more money and keep this device for my next internet connection. Not a big house either so don’t need to upgrade for better WiFi or whatever.

    • I've switched between several NBN providers multiple times in the past without needing to call my previous provider to cancel. However, when I recently upgraded to FTTP, Swoop (new) assured me they would handle the cancellation, but I ended up getting billed by Superloop. It took another week of back-and-forth with Superloop to cancel their old service…

    • They still do static if you ask, I'm using it with them. $5 a month

  • I move to a new place in a week… hopefully this is still available then.

You could schedule the connection for a future date

  • Is this same as More (commbank) nbn plan ? I am with tpg nbn plan, should I buy new modem or I can use the same modem? I was trying to find out supported modem but couldn’t see much info

    • +1

Is this same as More (commbank) nbn plan ?

More Telecom is cheaper if you haven't yet claimed the 30% off for 12 month discount.

      • I have not. I’ll try tomorrow. I was with tpg more than 4 years. Sometime they provided one month credit but recently they increased the price so want to explore. Today many deals on nbn give more ideas. And not sure why I didn’t explore earlier all these good deals

        • +1

More Telecom is $83.30 for the 250/25 plan for 12 months.
$104.30 for the 1000/50 plan for 12 months.
          I regularly get over 260Mbps.

          • @jv: Morenbn is the best deal for me getting speeds close to 270 on a 250 plan can’t complain

            • +1

              @WwDesi: I got 26.4 upload speed the other day…. 😊

              • @jv: That’s very good too bad my upload speed never goes that high 18 is max oh well download speed is all I care about 😊

          • @jv: I'm a commbank customer. However, can I complete the deal by filling in the debit card details and then after that is done, I switch to another card i.e. Westpac and keep the plan for $104.30?

          • @jv: more telecom is saying the speed is 205mpbs now not 250

            • @mitcheo:

speed is 205mpbs now not 250

              Mine is 259/23

        • +1

Thanks folks for putting me.on to more nbn, going to sign up with them.

  • Will there be any downtime, no matter how short, when switching between providers?

    • Depends on the technology and the provider. Usually there is down time, in the order of 15 mins.

      • +2

I thought it was possible for FTTP modems to have multiple connections provisioned, so depending on which provider your switching from/to, you can have 2 concurrent for a short period before disconnecting the old one..?

        • Oh yeah true, forgot about that.

        • You can have up to four concurrent FTTP connections from the nbn NTD. All four ports combined can equal 1250Mbps.

    • I experienced around 10min last time, from order submitted to being connected.
But it was during business hours.

SL is way better than ABB in my POI. ABB is way too oversubscribed and gets slow speeds.

I think I’ll send them an email to see if they will give me extra discount.

    • +1

I'm on HFC, just switched over now with no downtime, the whole family still using it as usual.

    • Jumped between AB and SL last Sunday on FTTC and had 0 downtime, the router just seemed to detect the change and got a new IP lease

  • -1

Hope the other providers offer similar deals.

Will move off my 1000/50 superloop plan in a heartbeat if priced at $99.

    • -3

So you're paying $119 at the moment?

      • Doesn't matter what I'm paying - if a competitor offers the same product at a significantly cheaper price point, I'm gone.

There is no such thing as brand loyalty these days.

        • -2

There is no such thing as brand loyalty these days.

Yes there is. I still drink Coca Cola even though Pepsi is cheaper most of the time.

          • +1

@jv: Pepsi >< Coke to me.

I dont mind paying extra for Coke and I do

  • +1

Signed up like 8 hours ago and haven't been changed over from ABB, strange as I thought this would only take like 15 minutes, this is on FTTP.

    • Depends how their system for new customers is setup, if they need to manually add you and how long it takes for them to do their part.

The NBN transfer itself is usually very quick.

    • Your order maybe stuck. Are you going from Aussie BB Gigabit to SL Gigabit?

    • +1

You sure it hasn’t been provisioned on another port on the ntd?

    • Yes I also signed up this morning. Sunday morning. But mind you im also transferring over a VoIP service and keeping my same number. They said they are waiting to for the pstn to move to viop. Still haven't be activated with SL yet. On fttp also

  • I'm on HFC, last time I tried NBN1000 it was more unstable than NBN500, resulting in often worse performance.

  • +1

    Is Superloop any good?

    • they alright

    • According to my research yes, but not as good as ABB.

      • -1

How reliable is your research though?

        My research suggests not much……

        • +1

Going by user comments on Whirlpool forum. I've entertained the idea of giving them a go but I haven't had any problems with ABB.

    • They're pretty good. They manage their own network so the performance is pretty on point, they generally buy enough cvc (I haven't had any issues) but I've seen a lot of people complaining about the customer support recently on Whirlpool. I've only ever had to contact them twice, luckily.

    • Their support in my experience was a bit hit and miss. It was good if you got the right person.

Had quite a few dramas when I moved house trying to opt out of CGNAT, the option wasn't appearing in the portal. Apparently, the issue was my NBN NTD was reportedly not showing as online for them. One of their support reps said I had to contact NBN support to resolve the issue, whereas NBN support told me that my ISP had to lodge the support case.

Ended up getting a call back from a more "competent" support rep who escalated the issue with NBN and fortunately all was resolved, but was a bit of a frustrating road to get there.

    • Really good for value, i swapped from ABB to Superloop Saved Money and No Complaints.
In a 2 year span i never called SL for Support and i never called ABB for support and i saved practically $240

  • I got aussie broadband with 1000/50, for 129, is that big difference in terms of speed, stability or customer service?
Any advice would be appreciated, save 180 for next 6 month.

    • If you're already with ABB, Launtel or Telstra, you'll be hard pressed to notice a difference.

      • then price make the difference and decision then, lol.
        Cheers

        • Exactly :)
Those 4 are the only RSP's I could recommend.

          • @[Deactivated]: I've been getting much better speeds on More Telecom compared to my previous ISP in Superloop.

  • I'll stick with Leaptel for $109 a month sure i only get 500mbps but, it's 500mbps all the time and fantastic routes

    • That's my plan as well, 7 months to go and stable quality.

    • Do they use CGNAT ?

If so, can you opt out?

      • +1

Yes and easy to opt out in portal

      • +1

As a note, the IP isn't very sticky (compared to SL and AB in my experience anyway)

      • What are the disadvantages of CGNAT?

        • +2

You don't get a direct IP address, you get routed via the telecom. Stops some applications from working, including Plex and P2P gaming.

          • @Jimbuscus: if cgnat opt out is extra, look into Tailscale or zerotier for plex or similar

works for hosting my server over company's guest network (with approval ofc) and save on power too - p2p mesh VPN punches through firewalls, no clumsy port forwarding crap

            • @MuddyRubber: I have DDNS & Cloudflare ZeroTrust, but no CGNAT is still something I would like to have.

        • You can opt out CGNAT from your account service page (after login).

This is my current speed using my phone WiFi on More Telecom 250/20 plan paying $83 per month. Any feedback on Superloop on their 250/20 plan? If it's any good might try the 1GB plan.

    • More Telecom 250/20 plan

I can't see that plan listed on their site. Do you mean there 250/25 plan?

  • +3

I was paying $130 for the same plan so I called them and they switched me over to the $99 for 6 month deal. They never inform you of any changes that they make to their plans, this is the second time Ive had to call to switch to a cheaper option..

    • So you just rang them and mentioned this deal, and they moved you onto it?

      • Yeah the tech said that they would give me a discount and asked me if I was happy to switch to the $99 plan. I had to provide my CC details and agree to the plan its like starting a new account and once my current paln ends then the new deal kicks in.

        • thanks - did the same and it got the $99.95 price.

  • Fk i just transferred to these guys a week ago FML

    • +2

Call them they will drop your price.

      • Or your pants. Either way you might be pleased.

      • +1

Yep the retention team moved me across

  • Also free Amazon Eero 6+ router (worth $249) if you stay for 18 months

    $20 shipping on the router

    • +1

That's not worth locking in for 18 months.

      • It is if it is already $50 per month cheaper than ABB….

In 6 months save $300 compared to ABB, then ongoing save $30….

(ASSUMING ABB AT FULL 1000/50 PRICE)

      • You are only locking in the router cost, its $8pm x18, with an $8 discount for each month.

If you leave after 6-months, you pay 12x $8.

        • I agree

The offer of a Free eero 6+ router with eero Secure is only available to Superloop residential nbn customers and only applies to the purchase of the first router per service. Your service must be connected via FTTP, FTTC or HFC technology and your service must remain active for 18 months. Should you cancel your service before 18 months you will be charged a once off router clawback fee of $8/mth inc. GST times the number of months you fall short of your 18 month commitment.
