  • Does anyone with this have any feedback on this model? Can't find many reviews online on the 930c. Tossing up between this and the 990b or c but I read about some satellite dropout issues in the 2022 models

    • I purchased one last week and it's been great. No dropouts and the surround sound is much better than my old lg soundbar

      • Hey mate any issues with the centre channel being quiet sometimes? I've seen some google reviews of this soundbar and quite a few mention this issue. Plus some people say it can't output atmos from ps5 and series x.

I have 990b and never had a dropout, I think it was fixed with a firmware update

    • +1

      same experience as Mercina ^^

    • I’ve had the 990B since launch paired with a Sony TV and half of the time no sound comes out on first use.
Need to flick to tv speakers then back to soundbar each time
But otherwise great, love the surround and subwoofer and voices are much clearer than the old yas108

I have the 930b and am very happy with it as far as value for money goes. no doubt the 990b is better but it hasnt dropped to a price I was willing to pay. For what it is it produces great sound IMO. Have not had any audio dropouts/issues, connected to a Sony 75" with CEC enabled. Also got a 800b the other day and am equally happy with that.

    • Agree, the 930B is an excellent system.

    • I have the 930 b on a Sony 85, though have problems with initial turn with both units not communicating or handshaking properly. What is this CEC enabled you speak of? Maybe thats what I need to do as well? any info you can point me to would be very appreciated.

  • You'll be fine with this as long as the satelite's aren't out of range. If they're within 5 meters or so from the soundbar they'll be fine. They're $849.15 on the partners Samsung store but they don't deliver to Tasmania at the moment due to their logistics problems…

I remember a few days back someone posted a 2022 model Q930B from Harvey @$930 as a deal. I wonder if he/she bought from that deal and now hitting its head against the wall after seeing your post.

  • +1

Very good soundbar. Got for $764 on this deal using loyalty code https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/762966#comment-13507341

Why is a newly released 2023 model on sale already? Oh wait, it's a Samsung.

  • +3

got a 930b for $699 3 months ago from jb, pretty decent

  • Any one know if the back speakers are active at all times on normal mode, I have HW-N950 and was the worst back speakers I've ever had one stoppped working and not used them since. Sound bar is great.

Would love to know what people think of this one.

What's the selling point of this? A used set of 5 speakers, a 12 inch sub, and a receiver, can be about half this price.

Wireless surrounds (don't they still need power?), bar that goes flat under TV instead of speakers on the side, or other?

That’s a false equivalency, compare it to a set of 5 NEW speakers, plus a sub, plus some atmos speakers to bounce off the ceiling and you’d have an argument.
Most people want convenience of setup these days, nobody is arguing it is a replacement for a receiver with RP-600M’s, but it’s a hell of a lot better than most of the receiver/speaker kits retailers used to sell for most people.

I'm genuinely asking because while I understand the reasons to buy a ~$200-300 soundbar that does 3.1 at an affordable price and in an unobtrusive size, these ones don't seem to make as much sense because you still have to find somewhere to put the surround speakers, you still have to power them, and it also costs $1000.

I'm not comparing it to new speakers because Australia would never have a shot. $1000 would be just the AVR lol. In the U.S. you've got companies like Dayton and Monoprice that are making audio accessible, but here you're basically stuck with Digital Cinema and the like and their ludicrous prices. Plus AV gear, especially passive speakers, doesn't really have any issues with age. Basically just have to make sure it sounds good and that it looks good.

As for that Atmos thing while I'd agree with the rear speakers I just cannot imagine the front speakers under the TV possibly being able to bounce of the ceiling and hit the listener effectively, they're not even angled, it's just straight up and back down. Besides it gets neutered when you consider that the subs that come with these things are no bigger than a mid-size bookshelf speaker, and probably wouldn't even cross 40hz. I'd definitely take clean low-end extension over a muddy height channel.

I guess in this case the answer is convenience of acquisition, on top of setup. These can be bought a big-box retailer, and the whole package comes in one go (no need to drive to different sides of the city to pick up the best deals). Usually when you buy these things used, if you find a whole package, either the receiver is going to be shit, the speakers are going to be shit, or it's going to be too expensive.

For me, I'm willing to spend a weekend to go through all that stuff for a few hundreds saved and some better gear.

$999 through Samsung with free delivery

    • 15% loyalty
    • $50 newsletter voucher

    = $799.15

Can also get 2.8% cashback through cashrewards/shopback which would provide roughly $20 further savings.

    • +1

Samsung chat is telling me loyalty code is not available for the Q930C

      • +1

I got a loyalty code and tried it on this soundbar and it doesnt work.

    • How did you do it?

I can't get the loyalty and newsletter to stack? Can't even apply the newsletter on the corporate partnership portal to get it down under 800.

I have the 930b and am very happy with it. I havent had any dropout issues at all. The rear speakers are actually quite decent. The only shame is that I have young kids who are in bed by 8, so havent had much chance to crank up the sound.
Its a bit of a pain to mount on the wall though because the bracket width is set to US standards I think.

  • do these expensive systems ever 'forget' to turn on with the TV? or do the <$200 systems only do that

    • +1

Never had that with my $200 or my $600 set, maybe it’s inter-brand communication issues? Sometimes brands don’t play nicely together

  • So ready to pull the trigger. Just moved into a granny flat and don't really have the space for my klipsh tower speakers and amp. JB hi-fi Price matched but added $89 delivery though.

  • +2

So i ended up pulling the trigger on the Q Series Q930C today. Got it from jb hifi for $879 which i'm happy with. Looking forward to getting rid of my tower speakers and amp setup. Living in a granny flat i'm a bit strapped for space. Had a little play with it this arvo and i'm very impressed by the sound. Need to find something to put the rear speakers on though. Speaker stand would be great but i'm looking for a very cheap way of doing it. Plus need to work out a power cable solution. It's great to be wireless but using 4 power outlets isn't very easy in my situation. But i'll work it out. :)

  • For those in WA, I managed to get retravision to match the Samsung store with the 15% discount ($849) then picked up in-store and used my RAC discount for a further 5% off (final price $805.60).
