  • Dishwashable? Any ideas guys?

    • +1

      Top-rack dishwasher safe.

    • +3

      Don't. Just rinse.

  • This is very sharp. My mom has it for at least 30 years now. It is still going strong. and yes she almost lost her finger once.

  • What are the thumb screws on the sides for?

    • +1

      changing blades.

      • Thanks, thought the blades are held down by the Phillips head screws.

        • +2

Two phillips head screws are for fixed straight blade, two side thumb screws are for holding the interchangeable blades.

          • +1

@jimojr: I see, the thumb screws are used to mount the included comb blades vertically, for strip cuts.

I love mine, still going strong 10+ years later.

I have purchased so many specials from Amazon today, I think I have a problem 😅. I don't even drink coffee but bought like 100 dollars worth of coffee making things 🤔

At least I feel like I might use this one occasionally

You're filling that void within you like the rest of us… But we'll never be full…

      • You should try playing whack a mole 17 hours a day

    • I seem to have bought a bunch of things from Amazon Japan today.

      I must be saving heaps!

  • +2

This versus Victorinox steak knife. Who will win? Ready? Fight!

  • Watch out when using these things. If you're stupid enough to use it when not using the cut-resistant gloves, like I once was, you won't have a fun time.

  • +1

Didn't want one but just bought one lol

    • Same , bought oxo one few days back, do i really need this, any way feel like i need it 😊

  • People should be aware that anything sharp is only good if you are willing to sharpen it when it's no longer sharp.

    • +3

People should sleep sound, as long as they use it for cutting veggies or something as soft, it's going to stay sharp for many, many years.

I bet those people commenting they've had it for 10 or 20 years never sharpened it.

      • Can confirm, had mine 20+ years, used regularly, will still take your finger off. Wish my shaving razors were this good.

    • Are you certain? Still can add in cart thou

      • Yep. Still available here.

  • Any good gloves to get for using with it?

    • It comes (or at least mine did many years ago) with a guard that does the trick.

  • Impulsive buy…thanks OP

Bought one, hope it will encourage me to eat more salad.

Dammit that's 7 items from Amazon JP I didn't really need. Amazing deals.

    • Is there a way to list Amazon JP specials?

  • Thanks bought one and a set of cut resistant gloves to go with it!

  • thanks heaps!

These mandolins are excellent they will last a very long time. Ive had my one going on 15 years in a commercial and home kitchen.

Edit, the one the op linked is a newer version, this one has a rubber foot and the blade ajuster nicer.

When I click on the link it is coming up as $78.81. Am I missing something?

  • Annoyingly just got deleted from my cart, might be OOS?

  • Missed out :(

Damn. I’ve been hanging to replace mine, it’s well aged coming up to 12 years of mainly commercial abuse.

It has hairline cracks near the thumb screws, but still functions well, not as sharp as new. Still does the job.

Out of the box these mandolines are sharp and not for the feint of heart. I have had a couple and witnessed quite a few nasty cuts with these, they make a Victorinox tomato knife seem kid safe.

If you’re prone to cuts or slips, or prefer something a bit easier to use I suggest a Borner V5 Powerline Slicer (Orange, Starter) https://amzn.asia/d/ebRCz10 or similar. The grip handle is easy to use, safe and works well.

Borner (German brand) mandoline in our household, close to 30 years young and still scarily sharp. Brilliant kitchen tool.

  • Our is still strong after 13 years

  • How do find Amazon JP items? Can you do it like Amazon US, ehere it will show you that its available to buy from Amazon AU and click a link?

  • +1

Already have one and love it. Bought another one as a spare

  • Got a pleasant surprise received today. I was excepting something else, something much smaller, was bewildered why it came in such a large bag. :D
