  • Any 34" old with Thunderbolt?

    • +3

Wont find them on gaming monitors mate. TB on monitors fits that extremely tiny niche for power users that wanted several monitors chained up with minimal cables.

Even if it have TB I doubt you can daisy chain much or any monitor on given the bandwidth needed to power an UW 175hz with gsync and hdr is a lot..

      • Found it.

  • Oh jeez tempting.
Should have the newer firmware but still, can you refurb burn-in?
3 year warranty should be ok…

    • What does the newer firmware even add on the other model?

      • Early firmware didn't properly implement the anti burn in functions. With the dw it's not user upgradable so you had to send it back to Dell to update.

Only way to refurb burn in is to replace the panel.

    • Can extend up to 5 years

      • wonder if that will also cover burn-in

        • -1

          Protection from defects

          I would assume it would

Just wondering they did factory update to the refurbished model?

Wondering if AMEX cashback deal applies to this.

I wonder if a new model is on its way, seen consisten drops and this model did come out like 1 year+ ago.

Probably going to cost over two grand though😂

    • probably, samsung's 2nd gen qd-oled tech is already in the works. i think they already announced their g8 oled 2nd gen iirc

    • The 23 in the last 2 numbers mean it's brand spanking new

  • +1

Just bought one, thanks OP. Would've been even sweeter deal if there was a Dell offer code somewhere, but given almost half price I ain't complainin'

  • Decided to roll the dice, such a good price on what is often regarded as the best gaming monitor available.

While this AW3423DW is tempting, it's important to note that it cannot receive firmware updates like the AW3423DWF model. However, the 3-year warranty should cover any issues during that time. Once the warranty expires and the firmware becomes outdated, the monitor could potentially become a ticking time bomb in terms of potential issues like burn-in. Without warranty coverage or the ability to update the firmware, the monitor could become less desirable in the secondhand market also.
It's essential to consider these factors before making a decision
TLDR: Buy AW3423DWF instead of this one

completely agree with you, but atl for DWF on the outlet store is 200$ extra and no telling when it will return.

solution: just buy the DW and use it for the three years, sell it for cheap at the end of the warranty period so it becomes someone elses liability. you still get to enjoy a top end monitor for three years and in three years time another deal on the top end monitor for 2026 will have popped up for you to transition into

      • DWF's ATL was $1089 in the deal I posted a few days earlier, but ran out of stock almost instantly hence the title was revised to only contain the DW.

If stock didn't run out, the DWF would be ~$980 right now! Dunno how stock levels would be in the future though, since they seem to have waaay more refurb DW than DWFs. But if it ever comes back, that'd be a steal.

        • 1089????????holy damn wtf thats so cheap?????????????????????????????????????????dell you cant do this to my wallet

How many future firmware updates is a monitor really going to need though? Most of the Gremlins are going to be found by now.
3 year warranty plus more room to cry ACL extension if you could really be bothered when the time came…

  • Doesn’t say if the warranty covers burn-in during those three years - anyone received any confirmation it is?

Also, I’ll mainly be using it for WFH - any problems claiming a portion of a “gaming monitor” on tax that anyone’s encountered?

    • I asked Dell chat and the lady said that the warranty indeed covers burn-in. I asked the difference between 'basic advance' with non basic, she pretty much said that they're the same warranty as brand new.. Save chat just in case needed.

  • For anyone who went in at the original $1300 price, I contacted dell support yesterday via the chat box. They did not refund me the difference but did cancel the original order so I could buy at the new $1169 price. Probably lost 2-3 shipping time but worth it for the discount.

    • Did the exact same thing but the customer support was terrible. She kept saying we don't price match. When I asked her to cancel she told me to she couldn't and to send an email.

Was very difficult without an order number.

      • Try doing the chat while logged into a dell outlet account, not the dell mainsite. It appears the 2 systems are completely incompatible. The chat operator I got just gave me my order number and said she would cancel for me.

  • Got a new one through JB, used the Ultimate gift cards extra 15% that started today price matched Amazon $1495 and less $30 for JB perks came to $1280. Stock is very tight though !
