There will be a seal on the actual steam deck. If thats intact then its all good, I believe how this seller recieves them is why the cutouts are there.

      • +2

Yep, that was all good once I opened it, there was a valve tag that had to be broken in between the lockable zippers on the included case. Thanks for the reply.

    • By any chance could you uploaded a picture of the Allphones box? Because I think I got the same as what you just described

    • What do you mean by resealed? Was the transparent packing tape on the box cut?

      • +1

He means the cardboard box it all comes in. It had the shipping label cut out

All phones will have the same issue when we send ours back

        • So are we getting factory sealed steam deck or is these refurbs?

          • +1

@zzzman: No just saying the way the seller imports them must be individually and is removing his shipping information. Everything is factory sealed

        • Yep, that's what's happened here, the carry case was still sealed with the valve tag, so all good to go

  • +1

Just tried it and it says expired, any other way to buy one for this price?

    • You can click on the steam deck in the related products box to see if here are any other deals.

  • For those who have received the steam deck, where are you located? I’m in Sydney CBD and it was picked up yesterday from the seller at 3pm and there has been no updates since.

Given its express post, I was expecting it to arrive today.

    • Rural Vic. Arrived today. Was shipped Monday.
      You’ll prob get it tomorrow.

    • +3

same with mine, stuck at auspost with statis "Received and ready for processing" since yesterday 3pm. The ETA is still 31/05/2023 though lol

      • Mate did yours move overnight? Mine is still stuck on “received and processing” since 30/05 3.12 PM

Are both our packages stuck in the same place?

        • +3

Mine hasn't moved either for some reason, stuck with the same status as yours. I'm in south east QLD.

          • @S3ISOR: Thanks for replying mate.

Seems like I’m not the only one with delayed delivery and there are a few of us in the same boat.

Is it just in a warehouse waiting to be sorted?

I guess express post isn’t that express anymore.

            • +2

@zzzman: Nope, mine didn't move at all. Out of curiosity I called up Australia Post and was told the item is still in their Sydney sorting facility. Next scan is due today, but delivery could take up to 15th of June lol.

So much for an express post. Looks like my item from Amazon Japan might arrive first.

              • @richrichie: Thanks for calling up mate. They probably just quote the longest delivery time to get you off their backs.

I get most deliveries (express or standard) within 2 or 3 days so this is definitely an anomaly.

I’m waiting for my 1TB SSD from AliExpress anyway before I start using the SD.

Will post again if I get updates.

                • +1

@zzzman: Yeah as soon as I got mine, I didn’t even turn it on, popped it open and changed the ssd. Easiest thing ever.

              • @richrichie: 01/06 12:00PM Delayed - waiting to be processed for delivery

                • @zzzman: I got the exact same. Kind of frustrating, but what can you do. This is the 3rd express post package 'delayed' due to congestion. Last time it sat for about 4 days before it moved again. See what happens…

                • @zzzman: Yep, got the same. Looks like one whole batch is delayed. I had another express post item also from NSW that arrived last Monday (ordered the previous Friday). Bad luck with this one, but hopefully it will still make it here soon.

                  • @richrichie: I guess this is why they removed the express post guarantee they used to have?

Also don't bother messaging the seller. I did that and they responded saying they are sorry that there is a delay and asked me to check the AusPost tracking website…

                    @richrichie: Finally an update!

01/06 3:53 PM In transit to next facility Sydney NSW

                    • +1

@zzzman: Nice! Mine has been updated too. It is actually interesting to find out that they are all processed in the same batch. The timing in my tracker update has been identical to yours!

And at least the seller got back to you, they have ignored my message all day.

                      • +1

@richrichie: Mine was just delivered mate. You should get yours soon too!

Now to wait for the 1TB SSD, dock and case that I ordered from AliExpress to arrive :D

                        • +1

@zzzman: Mine is turning up today as well. I've got the 1TB Samsung on the way from AliExpress as well. I got a screen protector and case from Amazon ready to go. I'll probably set mine up to have a bit of a play and then do it all over again when the SSD arrives.

                          • @S3ISOR: I don't know where to start to be honest.

You gonna buy games on Steam or are you gonna try EmuDeck and play some retro games?

                            • +1

@zzzman: I'm pretty much the same. I might try a few Steam games I already own just to see what performance is like. My main go to is Witcher 3, because I have it on PS5, PC and Switch. It'll be interesting to see how the deck handles it.

As for emulation - that's definitely something I want to explore.

I also want to start doing some reading about whether I can get the Epic store to work. After all these years of collecting free games I'd like to try some.

                              • +1

@S3ISOR: Check out Heroic launcher I think it’s called. There is Lutris too but I got fall guys working perfectly with Heroic launcher and some tweaks.

I started playing GTA IV lost and damned on mine. Runs so great it’s actually wild to me.

                            • @zzzman: what was included in the package?

got any power adapter for AU plug or another AU charger?

                        • +1

@zzzman: Mine has finally arrived too! I might try it with a MicroSD card first and see how bad it is before deciding if I want to attempt swapping the internal storage.

  • Currently in Europe, I ask for the help of Ozbargain here - can get the Steam Deck online for $690ish AUD, or the Rog Ally for around $1050 as it will be in stores and probably eligible for the 20% tourist VAT refund.

As a casual gamer and not much of a PC library, I’m still leaning towards the Steam Deck but the discount on the Ally is tempting.

    Any advice would be appreciated!!

    • +3

The biggest strengths of the Ally is the better screen and the faster chip, so you'll have to look at the games you have or want to play, and see if they work/are much better on the ally. You'd have to make a decision for yourself if you want higher resolution and fps but personally if you're ok with 30 or 60fps then just get the steam deck.
