Sweet! Love your work. Ozito has picked up their game in the last 5 years. Chippy of 15ish years. Join the red and black team. Milwaukee/Ozito all day, every day.

    • +2

Just FYI, Ozito won't cover tools under warranty if used for business or trade

      • +3

        lol.

        • +6

Lets be real. You said lol because theyre so cheap compared to the Milwaukees that even if they wouldnt replace it youre still better off just buying a fresh one anyway!

Im also an ex milwaukeeian whos admittedly off the tools daily but finding the PXC range awesome

      • +9

sorry I'll be more specific, never had an Ozito crap out on me in the last couple years. Their drills are better then Makita and their batteries are 1/2 the price and perform solid.
If you had to return a tool or battery then maybe don't rock up in your work threads. I keep all my tools off the works trade card.. But I appreciate your warning

        • +1

I upvoted your post earlier, only to have my 8 year old ozito drill driver crap out on me this afternoon lol.

The motor died. I can buy a replacement motor for 15-20 bucks off AliExpress but it's just easier to grab a new skin from Bunnings seeing how cheap they are.

      • -5

if a tradie came to the job site with ozito tools, im going to have to find another tradie. lol

        • +7

So you would take a moron with Milwaukee over a skilled tradesman with Ozito?

          • +1

@Doge: My super scheme manager always rocks up in a new AMG every year so I know my super is safe with him ๐Ÿคฃ

        • +2

If a real estate agent rocked up in a Toyota Camry rather than a Mercedes A-class sedan with AMG-bodykit and custom plates, I'm going to have to find another real estate agent. lol

        • +3

this is the vid that tip me over the line, when looking into my first tool ecosystem
Old mate had his car stolen.. all good it was insured… the ~$30k in tools inside however, weren't covered ๐Ÿ˜ข (yeah I'm sucker for a sob story, lol, sue me ๐Ÿ˜…) Went down to Bunnings and just got a bunch of Ozito stuff. 12 months later, no regrets. Comments section tends to agree.

Def not saying all tradies should use Ozito, esp since they are not designed for commercial/industrial use… but I'm not gonna write off someone who was using em ๐Ÿคจ

  • Excellent ๐Ÿ‘Œ tnx OP.

They tried that no warranty crap on me after I returned an echo snipper after a week that was faulty and that I had purchased on the trade card.. I asked to see the manager and they called him on the phone and he just told them to give me a refund.

  • What's the difference between the black (this deal) and [red series] (https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-pxc-18v-4-0ah-lithium-ion-โ€ฆ)?

    • +1

about $20 and 5 mins charge time

i think its just what they have overstocked

the manual shows they have the same functions

ones called "Black series" as is its fancy Mercedes

      • Just got one, the guy said black for home and the other for trade , not sure if it is true.

Just need one , I got one at home won't fully charge

  • -1

How do these compare with Eneloops?

    • +4

Eneloops are small, cylindrical, 1.2v, NiMH, AA or AAA size, for your torch or TV remote. These are larger, 18v lithiums for Ozito PXC tools.

      • +1

        Tough crowd.

  • blacks are cheaper
do they work less and not work as long because they are cheaper then the original one?

    • +2

Apparently the back casing meant Bunnings could list them as a separate stock item and only make them available in limited quantities at this discount/matched price, so the red 4Ah batteries would stay at RRP.

That way Bunnings can say they have the better price, but also minimise their losses by having a tiny amount in stock.

    • +2

not necessarily always cheaper… but right now they are, esp if you are just buying one. I've done a break down below ๐Ÿค“

The regular red one was $48.60… which I guess is 60c less, so yeah, ok, Black Series is cheaper ๐Ÿ˜…
But the multi packs are def best value when they are available.

I agree with @Switchblade88 that it prob has something to do with procurement, markups/margins, sales, profit… you know, business type stuff ๐Ÿ˜ต
They prob buy a massive bulk of the promo stuff once a year at a better price according to their budget, then drip feed it when they need to ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿพโ€โ™‚๏ธ
e.g. like when Aldi has a sale, or they are having a slow sales month, or some AI algorithm has determined that there's a sudden demand for em on OzBargain ๐Ÿ˜‹

      • +1

Remember when they were $29. Those were the days.

I KNOW RIGHT! ๐Ÿคฃ I was gonna mention something about the prices/sales not being as they to be, you know, with everything going on ๐Ÿค” But I try and cut myself off cause I clearly talk too much ๐Ÿ˜“๐Ÿ˜…

I def feel like I missed that Golden Era towards the start of the pandemic, where Ozito stuff seemed to soooo cheap ๐Ÿ˜ž Lol, I remember questioning if a previous price mentioned was just a skin or a kit. I said, has to be a skin only, as it was way too cheap… then they response with the link… yep, it was the kit ๐Ÿคฏ

But yeah, you make a good point. I should correct myself and say that the Black Series would almost certainly be cheaper than the regular Red version, because they'll price it that way. That's the point of this particular Black Series version as Rachel from Ozito mentioned below. It's a Promotional Product that's better value because they can sell it for cheaper… just limited in stock for that year (calendar? or financial?). I didn't confirm, but I'd have to be FY, yeah? And they are getting rid of the last of the stock now ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿพโ€โ™‚๏ธ Lol, prob were hanging onto it for a rainy day… but now running outta time to sell em ๐Ÿ˜‚
Anyway, Limited in the sense that they won't order more for that Financial Year once stock sells out.

NB: Multi packs are obvs cheaper again, but above statement is still true, as it too is a Promotional Product i.e. better value over the regular one, even when the regular one goes on sale (despite it being only 40c cheaper ๐Ÿ˜… still cheaper)

UPDATE: just had a look for the previous deal of 3, seems there's still stock
but might not be accurate as most are only 1 left. Except for Esperance, WA which currently has 8
Obvs you can't access it online… but if you found one in store, judging by Rachel's logic, it should be the same price as the previous deal 3 months ago… no? ๐Ÿ˜•

          • @neezy:

I didn't confirm, but I'd have to be FY, yeah? And they are getting rid of the last of the stock now ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿพโ€โ™‚๏ธ Lol, prob were hanging onto it for a rainy dayโ€ฆ but now running outta time to sell em

Feels like all the Ozito range at Bunnings is slowly being cleared out. Are they abandoning Ozito?

            • @redpen: nah, no way, highly doubt it.

If it feels like they are clearing it out… its prob to make way for new stuff/stock. Similar to EOFY sales.

If the shelves were bare for over a year… thn something might be up… but I'd be all over the news by thn and we'd know.

  • Apologies for being way out of my depth here but I have a Makita 18v mower with 2 batteries + charger if I wanted spares is there any reason why I shouldn't grab something like this?

    • +2

These batteries won't work on your Makita tools without some kind of chinese adapter.

      • Thanks mate figured there was probably a catch

        • +2

Check for "Makita 18v adapter for Ozito 18v battery" I can't vouch for the quality, but I have read people do 3D print em and sell em on various online marketplaces.

Obvs check articles and video as well, to see if it's actually a good idea and what to look out for e.g. potential dangers

I think Ozito and Einhell are the same. Not sure if Milwaukee falls into that group as well. Ozito is Aus/NZ

          • +2

@neezy: So I fell down the rabbit hole when looking into the companies/subsidiaries ๐Ÿ˜…
Felt like a waste not to share it… you know, for all my overthinkers out there ๐Ÿค“

Ozito started in 1993 in Australia, but Einhell Germany AG took over 10yrs later in 2013.
The following year in 2014, they started doing the Power X Change range (PXC), which is what most of us discuss in OzBargain.
They still have their corded products, which are Grey in colour.
Ozito is meant to be an amalgamation of Aussie(NZ) Tools.
They always just sold through Bunnings. You can't even buy from their own site, lol.
They prob save a bit here, using the Bunnings/Wesfarmers network.
They do pride themselves on their warranty and constant product improvement.
i.e. all the 'dodgy crap' that gets returned, cycles back through to them, so they can determine how to improve it.
Again, prob cost effective here too, salvaging all those other parts.
I'm assuming all the Einhell tech from Germany gets passed down. Like in 2017 is when they introduced the Brushless products.
Pretty sure Ozito set the benchmark with their 5yr warranties on tools (3yrs for batteries/chargers), which is why people give em a go, as it's a good value with lower risk. I've heard people just rock up to Bunnings with the old, instantly get a replacement. and walk out.
But… I just noticed that Ryobi offers an extra 2yrs to the 4yr warranty. So it's 6yr now, but you've gotta register. Makita also now offers 5yr warranty on cordless skins when registered… but it's "Limited" ๐Ÿคจ. That started in 2020. I'm sure the others companies will do the same… but I dunno if they'll be as simple as Ozito is.

Speaking of the other companies, you know, the original thing I was meant to look into ๐Ÿ˜‚
Techtronic Industries Company Limited is Hong Kong-based, but manufactures in China, Vietnam, U.S.A, Mexico and Europe.
Some of their brands are Milwaukee, AEG (Under license from Electrolux AB), Ryobi (Under license from Ryobi Ltd).

Makita (Japan) seems to be independent of any other brand. Same as Bosch (German).

I do wonder though… just where is everything actually getting manufactured… as opposed to where it's engineered or where the head offices are ๐Ÿค” Everyone knows Ozitio stuff is Made In China… but I actually couldn't find this info online anywhere official. I'm pretty sure it just has it on the box somewhere… maybe on the bottom… tucked away in the corner ๐Ÿ˜†

Which reminds me of when I was looking into the mattresses. I got it down to the crowd favorite Emma (German) vs local hero Eva (Aussie). But I wanted to know where they were actually being manufactured, cause people kept saying "German is better" but they were having major issues with deliveries due to the pandemic. Eva was straight up, "China dude, just like pretty much everything else man". Emma however, didn't give me a straight answer, and danced around the question with other info (full response at the end of the description) ๐Ÿ™„
Basically said either Europe or Asia… "Oh, true. Cheers… that just leaves… I dunno, 1/3 of the world to choose from" ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿพโ€โ™‚๏ธ

    • i don't think its worth buying these batteries with an adaptor. best to stick with genuine makita batteries. i own both makita for work, and ozito diy stuff if i don't have a makita equivalent. i usually wait for a sale anyways.

      • Yeah, personally, I wouldn't risk using an adapter either ๐Ÿ˜… essentially voiding the warranty too.
Not sure what the actual price difference would be for the batteries during sales, but I'm curious to see what it would be after factoring in the cost of the adapter, which would cut into those savings… but yeah, I didn't wanna offer my onion as they didn't ask aye ๐Ÿ˜‹

I'm also interested in knowing how @TTLOABP uses their tools too, and just how deep into the ecosystem they are, lol.
Would they consider selling the Makita gear and coming over to the Dark Red side ๐Ÿคฃ
Nah, Makita has a pretty strong hold in the Aussie market (40% market share last time i checked)
If @TTLOABP is doing anything more than just DIY stuff, it's prob not a good idea ๐Ÿค”

So I couldn't find an exact response to the actual difference between the regular red version and the black series… so I asked em

    Thanks for contacting us
The 4Ah Black Series battery has all the same internals as the regular battery
It's released cheaper as a promotional item and once stores are sold out of this item we don't usually get these back in for another year or so

    Kind Regards,
Rachel | Customer Service Team Leader
Ozito | 25 Fox Drive, Dandenong South VIC 3175
    Toll Free: 1800 069 486

As I suspected, promo gear is usually just getting the same thing, but better value.
    PXBP-400 - I/N: 6290574 - PXC 18V 4.0AH LI-ION BATTERY currently $69ea, regular item
    PXBP-40B - I/N: 0169989 - PXC 18V BLACK SERIES 4.0AH LI-ION BATTERY currently $48ea, promo product
    PXBP-340 - I/N: 0417097 - PXC 18V 4.0AH BATTERY MULTI PACK last deal $33ea, promo product

And, yes, I didn't notice that the specs on the Bunnings site has the regular red as 5min longer recharge time than the Black Series (80mins vs 75mins) …but I rekon that's a typo, or they haven't updated it correctly as the regular red with the charger has 75min in the specs (PXBC-400C), which is the same as the Black Series (PXBP-40B). Or maybe the 80mins was based on a diff/older charger ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿพโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Anyway, takeaway is that all the Ozito PXC 18V 4.0Ah Lithium-Ion Battery are the same (according to Ozito Aus), so whichever is lowest per battery is the best deal… although when the a charger is involved, it might get a little complicated ๐Ÿ˜ฌ …Anyone done a spreadsheet of all the products, prices at various times and breakdowns per item of suspected value ๐Ÿ˜ถ …no? ๐Ÿคฃ
