and Galactic Purple. Out of stock

  • Is this a good controller for PCs? Compared to the Xbox Series S/X and 8Bitdos?

I had a PS5 and loved the haptics, but not sure how that would translate to using it with a PC

    • +2

I don't think, it works perfectly on PC, Microsoft wouldn't allow other brand controllers to step into their zones.

      • +1

I thought it's be more of a Sony thing. MS seems to play well with others

        • -1

I would recommend Elite Xbox Series 2. However, if you don't play shooting games or AAA games, then buy a 5 dollars controller on ebay.

          • -1

@jxcharlie: Nah, I have Xbox and 8Bitdos already. I'm waiting for the super awesome no drift 8bitdos to go on sale

    • Whatcha playing?

      • +7

Mostly waifu simulators. And emulators and indy games. Not many AAA stuff

        • +8

Ah, I see you're a man of culture as well.

          • @Goldfire: Got any recommendations?

            • +1

@rosebank: Recommendations for a controller, or games?

For controller, I tend to use either a Xbox One controller, or the DS4. I haven't used the DualSense on PC yet, so I can't vouch for it.

For games, too many to list. Kancolle, Akiba's Trip, Senran Kagura, Persona, etc

For VN style ones: Steins;Gate series, Grisaia series, Clannad, White Album 2, etc - maybe check the vndb for more: https://vndb.org/g96?f=&l=&m=0&s=34w

Both XBOX and PS5 controllers are excellent. I have both so let me tell you what I feel.

The XBOX controller has amusing adhesiveness for grip.

Effortless Connection to your ipad/phone/pc and desktop. Can connect to your phone directly with built in socket.

But, need to buy a separate battery pack, no built in speaker, no touchpad.

The PS5 Controller has an ok grip.
But, it has built in speaker, touchpad and you can turn on and off microphone from the button on the controller.

Both have some pros and cons. I suggest you to buy both as the prices are going down and both are available in the rang of 60-70$ as of now.

You can use Xbox one for travelling (I use mine for playing Ipad games, asphalt 9 is awesome with XBOX controller on ipad) just buy a battery pack with USBC and ps5 for the in house use.

      • I already have an Xbox one that I'm bringing on my upcoming around-the-world trip (AA batteries is a huge plus and I have the Otterbox clip). I might buy one of these, I love the PS5 controller and think it's better than the Xbox one when used with their respective consoles. I've owned both a PS5 and Series X, but sold both.

      • Are you using the ps5 controller for PC?

        • No, I sold the controller with the PS5. I was just asking if it's good for PC. It's cheap so I'll buy one to try

          • @rosebank: Mb was trying to reply to crispy, I'm wondering the same

    • its better then standard xbox one but layout might not be to your taste, also to get haptic feedback you need to have it connected by a cable , wireless wont work

      • I had a PS5 and have used the controller, I'm fine with the layout and plugging it in.

    • +1

I have both xbox and ps5 controllers and i havent touched the xbox one since i got the ps5 controller. Theres just something ergonomically that feels better for me. As far as haptic feedback i dont think it works like like it does on ps5, its just regular ol rumbles. No trigger feels.

      • you have to plug it in

    • I recommend Xbox controller on PC tho. Had both.

    • It only supports the full DS features on Sony ports, and plus it has to be connected via USB in order to utlise DS features.

But even if certain games have DS features like Resident Evil 4 remake, it doesn't mean it has the feature on the PC port. It has to be implemented by the devs. Plus most PC games do not have the PS controller buttons on display in-game.

Standard wireless bluetooth works but then you lose DS features even on supported games. With this, its on par with the XBX controllers sans battery life where the DS is worse.

I like this deal, but I've 4 ps5 controllers now, and I've no friends.

White, Black and Galactic Purple now $69 delivered at Amazon (Direct for Amazon AU)

    • thanks, updated.

  • Argh!! Jumped on the White for $64 on the weekend but wish I’d waited now to pick up a midnight black :(

    • It's all about the personality bro

  • Need a ps4 controller, can i use this? Used controller is like $30+ each on fb mp.

  • is stick drift fixed on these controller?

    • I think the newer version has been fixed.

      • got a link that saids this?

and we need to know the models

  • Don't need another controller, but want a newer edition!

  • Nova Pink now $67

  • My partner literally just bought one for $120 yesterday. Know what I'm doing now.

    • Buy this (or the via JB Hi Fi with perks voucher for $59) and return the $120 one! If you've already opened it - just return this new controller under that $120 receipt, assuming you get the same colour.

      • We bought it from Target just the other day, so should just be able to take the open box one in there, anyway. If all else fails, I'll do what you suggest of course. Grand Turismo 7 is on sale, so i'll use the money saved on that.

  • +1

Bought one to play PS5 games on PC.
Edit: looks easy to setup, awesome!

  • Thanks. Using JB perks, got one for $59.

All showing $67 now sold and delivered by Amazon AU

  • Galactic Purple arrived today from Amazon. According to DSX PC app diagnostics, the manufacture date was May 2022, so this thing is already a year old now. Hopefully the battery is fine though.

  • Received it today from Amazon direct but it wasn't brand new, the box had been opened. Anyone else?

  • Why these and not a pair of those at AliEx for less than half price?
(Honest question; I'm not a gamer — just want something cheap and cheery to play with the kiddo)

  • No more direct Amazon stock?

    • Looks like only pink is left.

  • This has long gone…still some are $74.95.
