….another bloody bunnings drama. you reckon they would have learnt their lesson by now. customer service is getting worse week by week.

Bloody pissed off. Bought the largest new SCA tool chest deal at 3pm to house my socket sets that I had click and collect successful at 2 different stores. Get in there and they brought it out but couldn’t print the invoice due to isolation. Now I’m out hundreds on a new tool chest I don’t need on top of the wasted drive

    • ah no…thats a right pain in the arse. they really screwed you over
whats this isolation shit theyre pulling? theyve never done this before..

  • +2

I wrote a frustrated email to their customer service asking for another sidchrome or Stanley set with similar part count for the same price.
No high hopes but worth a try.

Counter chick when I tried to pick up: "maybe you can find another set instead?"
For 40 dollars regular price? Thanks but no thanks!

  • Perhaps it is a recall. Bunnings wouldn’t do this if it was a genuine price error, remember they gave us all $250 gift cards for the drone saga a few years ago. They make their mega millions and can easily eat these losses to retain happy loyal customers. Glad I picked mine up yesterday though and will be interesting to see what evolves here..

  • Not tried to pick mine up yet. Interesting from 'contract of sale' perspective. Pricing errors are generally hidden away somewhere in the T&C's. So interesting that they are not using that excuse. If it is a recall, then it would be for all sets, sold or not. Appears very sus from Bunnings. Maybe an ACCC complaint waiting to happen.

The same "customer service" in Lidcombe Bunnings, I was standing 1 metre from "my" 1/2 inch kit, but they just wouldn’t give it to me. They just stripped my name from it, cancelled the order and played their stock isolation/ recall B/S. The manager confirmed that both fine lines (6111040 & 6111041) were isolated/ marked not to sell today = 9.6. and would repeatedly blame Sidchrome, claiming no Bunnings fault. Sorry, I wasn’t born yesterday, this stings pretty badly to me. What a waste of our time. A nice treatment of Trade customer. I have a second order with a different Bunnings, it would be interesting if they even bother to call. No phone call or any notification from Lidcombe. The second order is still showing status "ready for collection" as the order from Lidcombe said. No customer service at all.

  • Got our sets this arvo from Ballarat at around 2-3PM (wife picked them up). No dramas, lady told her they sold out ASAP due to the crazy price on them (which did me no harm having someone in the know telling her that :-)

I guess I'm glad my original choice of store sold out before I could order. If I did manage to get the order I would have intended to collect it on Saturday. Ended up ordering from Seven Hills and catching a bus after work to go collect it Thursday afternoon instead of my usual bus home. When I did collect it there were still several other sets awaiting collection on the shelves behind the click and collect counter. Even the bag checker at the door said 'oh, you got the bargain.' I hope most people ended up getting theirs.

  • Those that received a "ready for collection" email arguably have a completed contract of sale. These bozo's have boxed themselves into a corner by not pulling the pricing error cancellation card. If the item/s are not recalled or listed on Bunnings' and/or Australian recall websites then you can theoretically demand performance of the contract of sale. That is, ask for a raincheck and "delivery" of the goods when a replacement fit-for-sale product is available. The discretion is yours, not theirs. It might, however, be difficult convincing the less than erudite staff/"managers" at Bunnings of same.

They may be reading this thread and realise they are destroying their reputation by selling this crap under the cover of a trusted name and risking the future of the brand .

Before the neggers start you got your $30-40 bucks worth ,
but there’s no way anyone that knows anything is paying the claimed rrp .

    • ….'arkin hell mate give it a rest!

      • The funny thing is they're clearly better now than they were, back where this bloke is still living. He should catch up.

      • I see you guys have drunk the Koolaid
If ignorance is bliss I’m sure you’ll be happy with what you’ve gotten.
        Peace Out

Update: I was contacted yesterday afternoon by the Bunnings store manager to say they had tracked me down a socket set from another store and were having it express posted to them for me to pick up next week. Happy days! Cant believe the outcome.

  • +1

Not sure about the comments about there being a recall. I was advised and listened to the conversation the manager I spoke with talking to Sidchrome Australia….This Item is a Bunnings / Sidchrome Promotion and limited stock was available…defiantly not a recalled product.

  • FYI for those who still haven’t picked up, I just picked up my 2 sets (one of each) without issue. I’m in QLD, though not sure if that makes a difference.

    • +1

Same, just picked up my 62 piece set in SA with no issues.

I was told the recall story yesterday arvo, driving home empty handed but with a refund.
Two hours later the lady who I spoke to earlier called me to say that I can now pick it up after all.

Apparently it was a price error but someone loaded the wrong "don't give to customers code" (recall instead of price error).
She said I can have it if I picked it up before they close.. No guarantee on the same cheap price for the next day though.
Due to that flag in their system she couldn't print me an invoice either.

Weirdest shopping experience ever!! That said, I've got the socket set after all.

answer is simple….bunnings are shit. expect more of this crap as they cull more of their staff from their stores

    • Hi man is it okay if you can show me the receipt? I got the story saying it is being recalled and they offered me to refund it but I said no. I want to get the sets. Just wanna show them that others are picking it up.

Just got the isolation phone call but the item is held for me until they find out what is going on. Will give me a ccall during the week.

I got the text saying it was cancelled due to "product isolation". I questioned this on the phone and got told it was a safety recall. I asked where this information is as it should be public information. They replied and said it was internal only. I questioned it because if it was truly a safety recall, it would be made public knowledge and emails/ recalls would go out to those who purchased the product. They said they weren't sure and then said oh "we're just speculating it's a safety recall". I was like huh? How can you speculate that and tell me it's a safety recall when you have no idea if it is. Why are you hiding under "safety recall" and saying people can get injured over the product when that's just complete bs??

Such a weird approach by Bunnings. I spoke to the manager and they said the same thing. Then once I questioned it, the manager also said, oh we're not sure sorry. After specifically saying it was a safety recall. They then just decided to do an "under the counter" deal and process it through manually for me today lol.

    • The guy I spoke to today just told me straight up it’s been isolated and they don’t know why. He said I can cancel order or wait to hear from them. I just said to leave the order, but the store is 100km away and i literally drove right past today, but won’t be doing that again in the near future so hopefully they post them to me.

Both of my orders were cancelled by the store - 2 different stores in NSW. The customer service over the phone promised that they will address the isolation issue on Tuesday and give an update to all who purchased these 2 sets - even cancelled orders. I don’t believe that till I hear from them. Probably just quietly cancelled my orders and will never do anything about this dishonest treatment and wasting of our time. The Lidcombe manager blamed repeatedly Sidchrome and rejected any fault on Bunnings side. At least own your mistakes Bunnings and train your people in basic customer service!

    • bullshit …of course its 100% bunnings fault. they listed the stock and sold it to us. nothing to do with sidchrome

  • Collected both my sets from a QLD store before with no issues

  • Regarding the plastic cases, Bunnings have advised they can't get them. Anyone else had any luck ordering them, or found another supplier?

  • Picked up my 1/2" today (NSW) no issues

    • Would you mind to share which bunnings you got it from?

      • North Penrith

I went to pickup on Friday, took them some time trying to get an invoice then eventually they called a manager over the phone, had the same isolation explanation and was offered a refund or get an item of same value. I said I will comeback and let them sort it out first as explanation does not seem to add up. Went back again today, got the item with invoice, no issue this time.

    • Which store? I still haven’t heard anything about my order

  • Anyone want to swap the 1/2 set for the 1/4 and 3/8 set with the price difference their way? Managed to get the 1/2, but really wanted the other kit.

    • -5

      RRP price difference? Sure!

Hi, for those who got the click-and-collect email but get refused by isolation message. Just don't cancel your order and get a refund. Contact the customer service and tell them that the others are picking them up. Tell them you are happy to wait until it clears. I managed to grab mine after 2 days of calling them. Hope you get yours soon!

    • +2

I wish I had a choice - Bunnings Bellambi, NSW cancelled my order against my will on Saturday. When I called them today, as the isolation should be fixed in their system, they claimed they have no stock = It sounds like a false claim to me and differential treatment of same orders/customers - clearly the notification said the item is Ready for collection from the Bellambi store. Plus, the staff was hostile when I tried to explain the issue that we didn’t cause to them. “It was too early in the day” for the manager to address the issue = a really professional response. Contacting the Customer Support now!

  • No stock in australia as per bunnings but she mentioned u can get a refund or we have some coming in from overseas it might be a while..

After being refused collection due to isolation on Thursday I just picked up one of my kits (the 21pc) after receiving a new ready for collection email.

Unfortunately my order for the other set was automatically cancelled as soon as the isolation went out. Still trying to get an outcome there.

    • I received an email and text to collect the 21 piece but when I called they said they are still under quarantine and I can’t get them yet.

    • +1

UPDATE: After several unsuccessful phone calls messages to customer support, I just went into the store that had cancelled my order and politely but firmly waited for them to sort it out. Eventually they agreed there was no longer an isolation and they handed it to me to take through the checkouts and it scanned at the correct price.

      • +1

As in it scanned at the RRP? Or at the discounted $39?

I just rang Sidchrome (Stanley Black & Decker) customer service on 1300 654 155. They confirmed that they have not issued any such recall/quarantine on this Sidchrome promotion at bunnings. They are clearing these items as they have not sold well in the past and 6 of the modules are now discontinued. The blow-mould heavy duty case can be ordered thru the Bunnings Special Orders Desk (SCMT 30000) and there are over 1000 cases in stock at Melbourne. Hope this helps.

  • +11

For those chasing the blow mould case SCMT30000, it is showing again on the Bunnings website available for special order, IN: 6111058. https://www.bunnings.com.au/sidchrome-blow-mould-tool-storag…

The price has risen slightly to $19.98

    I ordered 2 this morning.

    • +1

      Great find, ordered, thanks mate.

    • +1

      legend shit!

    • Hi thanks for the find will this fit both sets ? Thanks again

    • +2

Picked 2 cases up this morning, they fit both kits absolutely perfectly, it ends up being a beautiful looking bit of kit I love it all, definitely one of my best OB purchases.

I mentioned sidchrome have about 1000 of the blow moulds to sell, they are discontinued now. She said she reckons it's much much less than 1000 and people will need to get in quick.

  • Just picked up my 1/2 kit today. No idea why others were “isolated”.

  • +1

Just went in to Bunnings Capalaba and they had 4x of the 62 piece kit, and 10+ of the 21 piece kit. The tool shop guy wasn’t sure why they hadn’t shown up in their system but they had the reduced price on the shelf so I’m sure the price is still valid.

  • +2

thanks to the users who researched the blowmold case…really finishes the kit off nicely and definitely worth the extra dollars

  • Just got mine delivered today. Now looking for a case
