    I paid $599 for a Gigabyte RX 6700 XT 12GB back in October/November.

    Just providing a reference point.

  • Same price as second hand on eBay.

  • +2

    Title says 6700 xt 8gb, but it's a 12gb card?

  • +4

    3060 Ti the same price.

    • +2

8GB VRAM is already showing to be a bottleneck, new games using a lot of VRAM for textures and such. If you don't need ray tracing, 6700XT is much better. Also Fine Wine™️

  • Hi guys, I don't know much about computers, but I'm looking to do a budget upgrade(Video card and PSU) for my computer. I mainly use it for web browsing, YouTube, and playing games like CS:GO, also planning to play VR Steam games using the Oculus Quest 2

Can anyone suggest which card I should get for the best value?

    here's my lists
    https://pcpartpicker.com/list/VdBvH2

    Thanks

    • +4

This 6700xt would be a good value for your use case

      • got it, thanks

        • +2

I'd caution with the VR Games. If you are sticking to mainstream VR titles, you'll be fine, but a lot of niche and indie VR titles just straight up don't work on AMD cards. I'm still happy with my purchase (6700XT and Quest 2), just something to consider.

    • 6600

    • if you're doing vr probably go nvidia

      • I already placed the order, but for nvidia which one would you pick?

  • +1

3060 ti, 6700xt or 6750xt? You may find the answer below
    https://www.techpowerup.com/review/nvidia-geforce-rtx-4060-t…
    Or here includes 6750xt
    https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/5AtTGKYqW3SYQzUi2ddrV4-120…
You may also consider 3060 ti with 8gb VRAM, 6700xt and 6750xt 12gb VRAM.

    • thanks

    • +4

Gosh the 4060ti is a joke

      • I've been reading up on it and saw gamers nexus roast the card. But it's annoying because I'm in the market for a SFF Nvidia card and feels like if I'm going to limit myself to 8gb vram then I might as well grab the 4060ti instead of a 3060ti to future proof a bit more when I eventually upgrade to ddr5 and can take advantage of the bus. Weighing up if I bite the bullet and eat a 4060ti shit sandwich or just say screw it and grab a 3060ti and forget about it

      Great link thanks!!

Fmd paid 1750 for Asus 4080 on Monday from umart

  • +2

Stacks with the current Shopback 10% (max. $20) cashback.
Also worth paying for Ebay Plus for the extra 2%

    • i might be wrong but on the shopback site it says exclusions for the EOFY codes?
EDIT: I can't read, it says exclusions EXCEPT eofy codes LOL

  • +2

    Decent price for the 4080

  • -1

Do you reckon this will be a bit cheaper during EOFY sales? Asking for a friend.

    • +4

      OzCrystalBall says NFI….

      • +7

        My friend isn't happy.

  • +3

dammn got one 4080 thanks, hopefully it will be a long time investment after i find the rest of the pc 😊

  • 4070ti vs 4070 vs 4080…….which one would be best for money?

    • I got the 4070ti for $1100 new through eBay Computer Alliance it slaps !!! pretty impressed.

      • Which 4070ti you got.
Thinking to get Suprim X 4070TI $1300 after discount

        • Base model MSI 3 fan runs about 70deg running 3440x1440 ultra power draw is good running it on a Corsair plat 650w

  • +1

Barely used my 2080 super over the last 4 years - all the working from home made me spend more time console gaming away from my computer room for my leisure time.

Diablo 4 and helping a mate with his new build has gotten me into research mode which usually ends in impulse purchasing. The 30 series gave me huge buyer's remorse at the time and I'm seeing the raw numbers on the 40 series as impressive against what I have but not really on a per generation basis. Am I right in thinking the even generations are duds and because my performance is fine holding out until the 50 series is probably a better idea than leaping on this generation even if the price/endorphins seem right?

    • +4

      i'd wait for 50 series

      • Why wait there why not 70 or 80 series

    • +5

Save money and go AMD this generation, then go back to NVidia when they get their head out of their arse with pricing.

      • I don't think that is ever going to happen, unfortunately. Greed is addictive. How I wish I could pick up a Nvidia 4070 card for $650 (it works out cheaper because you can resell your current GPU).

      • They won’t.

Datacenter/Enterprise is where the money is. Get used to this pricing.

  • +1

1600 for a reputable 4080 plus diablo 4 feels quite compelling

    • +1

3 says now still waiting on Asus to send me key

    • +1

Yeah same. Was almost certainly going to buy D4 so that brings the effective price below the magic $1500 threshold I've been eyeing off.

  • +2

Thanks for posting! Got the 4080 will be a v nice upgrade from my 1060

  • Is upgrading from a 5600 xt to a 6700 xt worth it ? Or is it better to wait for a deal on the 6800 XT ?
Are there even 6800 XTs still up for sale ?
    Dear AI overlord, please answer.

    • +2

I'm in the same boat, I might grab the 6700 XT and sell my 5600 XT for a couple of hundred dollars. I think performance wise, it's nearly more than 50 to 60%.

I've had mine for about 2 years so time for a small upgrade.

    • +1

I'd say it's worth it due to the VRAM upgrade alone. Your 5700XT will start to struggle with some newer titles due to crap optimisation and large textures.

    • +1

      Using HWU 7600 8gb review and saying a 2060 is a 5600xt and the 1440 15 game avg chart.

      2060 - 41/29
      6700xt - 74/60
      ~1.8x

  • -2

There may be some disappointments right now with current gen, but really we are spoiled right now to be able to get a GPU like this so cheap.

  • Just wondering, should I buy this for smooth running on Rhino and illustrator for architecture design? or need to find better CPU?

  • What about the 6750XT for $50 more? Yay or nay?
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/175742262962

    • +1

~10% moar power for ~10% moar price. I ended up going for the 6700xt - with the Shopback extra cashback for $20 to maximise bang for buck option. Will try and OC the 6700xt to get it closer to the 6750. Not being able to disable the 6750's LEDs without a hardware hack, plus 3 fans vs 2 fans also swayed me :D

Would probably have gone for the 3070 (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/780177) for the dlss/cuda cores if was going to spend more

  • how much of a performance boost is this over a 6600 XT the 6700XT? should I be waiting for a 7600 xt or 7700 xt?

  • Sweet hello 4080 had been looking last week

  • I literally put this down on my list for my next build to start next year - but this is like the 2nd or 3rd deal for a RX 6700 XT this week. I think the universe is telling me something.

  • +4

Caved on the 6700xt. Been holding off for ages on upgrading the old GTX1060 6gb which has served me well.

    • Radeon is the way fo the future so good choice

      • +1

Hah I moved from a Radeon to the 1060, I just go where the value is.

  • Does anyone make a full cover block for these? Had a look while I was at work and it seems that EK only do a reference and this doesn't appear to be reference.

Looking to replace a 1080TI FE with a EK block on the cheap.

  • +1

Paid $532 less than two weeks ago and missed the RE4 promo. Just started a refund on eBay for "better price found".
Feel kinda bad for the store but not as much as if I'd missed this deal. Thank OP!!

  • what is the PSU requirement for the Gigabyte Eagle RX 6700 XT? is it higher than the base 6700 XT at 700w psu?

    • I'm pretty sure they are the same card so similar if not the same Wattage.

      • ahhh cool thanks so those fans don't draw any extra power good to know.

      • Hmm.. my Antec 550W won't enough.

        • Using this card with a cheap 600W PSU without major issue (with 105w CPU). Usually don't have much load on the system though.

          • @flopsy:

Usually don't have much load on the system though.

I am still wondering if old CPU like i7 4790 will it be still OK to run latest games with 6700XT?

            • @superforever: I can't think of a title you wouldn't be able to run, but many new games would be severely bottle-necked.

  • Argh! The 4080 tuf is too big for my case… Unless I remove a front fan (fractal torrent compact)… Should I?

  • Finally Bought one 6700XT. Can't HLOD forever. Going from GT1030 2GB on a year old built PC should finally give it a soul it deserves.

  • +3

FYI, for this generation of Nvidia cards the Gigabyte OC version is superior to the Asus TUF. Significant less coil whine and better noise normalized thermals (runs cooler for the same amount of noise). The Gigabyte OC 4080 is currently discounted to $1599 as well from Computer Alliance.

    • +1

Yes good point. The only Asus 4080 which is better is the Noctua version, but that's 4090 territory

    • I was mistaken, it appears the Gigabyte OC model is not available on their eBay store, only their official store. Thats a bummer.

    • What is "Significant less": 39dba vs 40dba noise; 67 degrees vs 71 degrees temperature? It's nothing really.

  • +1

Thanks, I pulled the trigger on the 4080.
Do I need to wait until it’s delivered to be able to register for the copy of Diablo ?

    • yes

  • Shopping Express just put up a 6700xt for a little less: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/334893200191
