How do these stack againt Similar in Rayobi ?

  • +3

I have a prior version of this model, 43 size, 12 years and still going well - had to replace the blades twice, but all good otherwise. No other maintenance required.

    • My charger died; it's around $150 to replace - not really worth it compared to Aldi or Ozito mowers and their cheap batteries & chargers, but these weren't available decades ago.

There might be fix, but don't have time to research it yet.

  • I have a 700 sqm yard. Will this be fine?

    • +3

Please buy, try it and let me know 😅

      • +1

I ordered and will keep you updated!!

      • +1

I got the mower during the week and tested out now. Worked really well on my solid patch of grass, it definitely is less powerful than my old petrol mower but not to any point that concerned me. Really happy with the procurement. Was easy to assemble and it’s easy to clean as well.

        • I think Bosch gears are generally good. Glad that you're happy with the purchase.

    • +4

4ah battery would be underwhelming and not enough juice.

      • Thanks mate, I will look at the battery options if not enough.

    • +1

I had a similar sized yard that i mowed with a greenworks 40v mower. Needed about 2 4ah batteries to get around. No complaints!

      • This gives me a lot of confidence! Thank you so much mate.

    • +1

I don’t know but the type of grass you have would play a part. For example Buffalo would use more power

      • A blend of Tall Fine Fescue and Kentucky Bluegrass. Hoping this doesn’t require too much extra power

    • +1

I get 300 - 400 SQM out of my 4AH battery on a Ryobi depending on grass length

      • Wowser! Ok this is giving me a lot of confidence. Thank you! Seems like a good price for what it is

    • +2

I usually get about 40 mins runtime out of my 36v ryobi with the same 4.0ah battery if that's any help. you will get as little as 15-20 minutes if your grass is overgrown though.

      • Thanks mate, that seems about the mower session I perform. I will test it out!

    • +1

I think youll be better off buying buying one with cheaper batteries like a ryobi and get muttiple batteries that you can also use on power tools.

    • 4 amp Battery is not enough, get an extra larger battery.

This looks so light and plastic. You need some weight in a lawn mower

  • First time buying a lawn mover as moved to a house from unit…. Is this worth buying at this price or other better options. Thanks

    • +2

Aldi special buy $229 with 2 batteries & charger.

  • At the end of the day, no battery powered mower can match a petrol one. If the grass is a bit high and you don't have a small lawn patch, forget about it.

    • +1

They don't need to match a petrol one - they just need to mow your lawn. For a "normal sized" suburban block they're absolutely fine - I run the 82v Victa and it's excellent.
You definately don't need just a small lawn patch - you can just add batteries if you need more range 🤷🏼‍♂️

A battery unit isn't going to go well if you're on a giant rural bush block … but that's not most people 😁

  • Unless you have tiny lawn with couch or well maintained buffalo I strongly recommend against it. I have the previous model and cut settings is high, any waterlogged spot you'll struggle. My 20 years old Honda still beats it 10 times over, and probably only need one 5l can a year.
If you want to go green get something else decent like the ego one. 36v still doesn't cut it.

    • I have a 250sq m area for grass

  • Thanks Guys, any leads on similarly priced petrol mower ? I just bought a home and i have approximately 300 sq grass and then there’s the 20m long nature strip. I need a mower which can handle slightly over grown grass

    • +3

Don't buy a petrol mower, they're heavy, they stink, they're extremely loud, you have to put petrol in them, and they need servicing occasionally.

Battery mowers are nicer to use in literally every single way except for raw power. Make sure you buy something with some beans - the Costco https://www.costco.com.au/BBQs-Outdoor-Living/Lawn-Garden/La… and Ego https://www.totaltools.com.au/141645-ego-56v-420mm-5-0ah-bru… units are great, be prepared to buy a second battery if you can't get through a whole mow in one battery 👍

I would never go back to petrol tools even if you paid me, they're awful in comparison.

  • Ordered one, Thanks.

I have the "Bosch Rotak 34 LI Ergoflex Cordless 36 Volt Li-Ion Rotary Lawnmower (34 cm Cutting Width)" which was purchased on Amazon for $450 just over 10 years ago, it still works but it's time for an upgrade.

    • +1

I ordered one too, for me its a first ever lawn mower purchase, so lets see how it performs

      • Used mine the other day, quite impressed, hope it lasts like the last one.

        • Same here, i had over grown grass and it did just fine,

          • +1

@AAN: The key is just not to mow when it's wet, one thing battery mowers don't really like is wet grass 👍
