    Who even drinks this swill?

    • +7

It's 5% ABV. Most cheap Aussie beers taste the same to me and have less alcohol

      • +1

4.2% beers like water might as well not drink

        • +1

I add vodka to beers below 5% ABV

  • +4

    Gross

Drinking your own urine is free, and tastes better.

    • +14

Curious to learn more about your urine drinking experience. How did you find yourself in that position? Was it after a Bear Grylls epidode? Is it nutty or acidic in taste?

      • +3

He didn't say he was drinking urine, he merely indicated that he knew what it tastes like. Don't put words/piss in his mouth for being facetious.

There's many situations intentional or not where you may experience the taste of urine. I experienced two of these in the last 48 hours.

        • +3

Think it might be time to look for a new line of work mate

          • +1

@Merlict: I dunno. I think it's rude to ask a lady to go and wash her p*$$y every time you want to pleasure her in the heat of the moment. Not very spontaneous is it?

The other instance was my son pissed in my face this morning when I changed his nappy.

Not sure what line of work you imagine involves tasting urine.

            • +1

@NoApostrophePlurals: Well… you could be a sceptic on the effectiveness of modern medicine and would like to relive the nostalgic efforts of those from the past, such as Thomas Willis.

Thomas Willis pensively sipped from his glass. It was sweet, even a little delicious. In 1674 the Oxford University physician was far from the first doctor to taste urine, but he was the first Western doctor we know of to connect the sweetness of urine to the condition of its owner, a person suffering the effects of diabetes.

              Great read: https://sciencehistory.org/stories/magazine/sickening-sweet/

@moo: The only good comment in this post. Thank you.

@NoApostrophePlurals: Working at the Foster's Brewery?

          • +2

@Merlict: NO KINK SHAMING! Golden showers are okay between consenting adults.

        • +1

I experienced two of these in the last 48 hours.

Neither of which were your own.

      • +2

On occasions, when you take a break after exerting yourself, the forceful spray from your propulsion can be so strong that it reaches your lips with splashes. If you unintentionally lick your lips during that moment, you may experience an unexpected taste.

        • Need video proof mate

    Australia's favourite beer!

    Source: I'm American

    • An Aussie always has one after he throws a shrimp on the barbie…

  • +1

Only once I met an Australian drinking this at Curtis Springs station. Now he’s dead! R.I.P. Peter Severin!

  • +1

must be better than bud light,

    • +3

I think Bud Light is only used for AR15 target practice. I saw a video of Kid Rock shooting it

      • Looks like he used a Fully Auto MP5.

        • Is that better or worse? I don't know guns

          • +1

@rosebank: Different caliber, but otherwise much the same. If you get hit, it'll hurt.

  • +4

was. very popular about 40 years ago … then marketing shifted it as an export label as fosters brewing which owned CUB and lots of wine brands wanted to take on large volume global expansion and marketing promotion dropped in australia …. it’s your average larger beer, more flavour than your session beers eg asahi , etc …… the market changed a lot since then with so many brands now made under license locally, wasn’t the case 45 years ago when VB and fosters ruled …… can’t recall what it tasted like but preferred it to VB or MB ……..

think slogan use to be “we’re takin it all round the world” …. go baza mc menzie

    • +1

I unironically like VB and the new VX

      • +6

I personally like the VL before it took more of the modern shape with the bigger VN.

    • +1

must have been only in Victoria. I don't recall people in Queensland ever drinking Fosters.

      • +2

        Nope they drink XXXX.

        Even worse than Fosters!

  • +1

I honestly never noticed Fosters beer for sale anywhere, at a pub or the bottlo when I was younger. I thought it was either a fake beer or only available overseas!

    • +6

My biggest memory of Fosters is F1 sponsership

      • +1

yeah in australia we used to see it for sponsorship for international events because it was australian brand targeted at overseas market once elders who bought CUB decide to make it australia’s international beer not domestic.

    • +1

overseas …..remember seeing it when i worked in asia ……. haven’t seen it on tap in australia for 40 years and only see it in cans at dans on shelf, not in fridge ……

    • +3

Used to be popular around 30 years ago. Went to buy some the other week for my fathers wake as it’s what he used to drink but couldn’t buy it anywhere.

Didn’t taste any different to the other European lagers to me, doubt anybody would pick the difference in a blind taste test.

      • +1

yeah, not a distinctive taste to many other lagers, hence biggest selling australian brand of beer overseas and made under license in many countries ……

      • +1

True, especially for largers, most of the peeople wont be able to tell

  • here… you pour this out.

  • I bought a six-pack a few years ago when a bunch of us gathered to watch the Kangaroos play. Worst beer ever. Tasted like beer-flavoured soda water. Can't believe it was ever a thing…

    • +1

Idc about taste, as long as it's drinkable. I decided to get 2 slabs because I don't think I can wait for cashback from this deal and I try not to raid my whisky stash too often. I'm on my 9th beer today.

  • +3

This would go well with a carton of TAB cola.

  • +3

I thought we exported this so that we didn't need to drink it?

  • Was told years ago that Fosters export was repackaged Crown

    • Absolutely not lol

    • +2

The rumour, which CUB strenuously denied was that Crown was the top 25% of a Foster's fermenter.

    • +10

      C - Cheap
      A - ABV 5%
      N - Not caring

  • +1

it's shit, tried it overseas & thought people must think aussie beer is terrible stuff

    • Budweiser is worse, I figured thats how it did well internationally

      • I'd stick it in the same shit category, the poms have carlton which is another
I call it all cooking lager

      • Bud Light was pretty good over there, on tap etc.

I bet they'd love XXXX Gold as much as I do.

    • A lot of it is sadly.

  • +1

Hey @rosebank share a few tins with me? Keen to try. Last had it in England 6 years ago… Was poor.

    • lol ok, I'll bring some to S&W

      • +1

        Boilermakers 😅

  • I saw it in supermarkets in Europe few years ago…

    • They sell it there as THE Australian beer and not a lot of people like it.

  • No free bud light?

  • 2 hours and still 50% left…. I guess that says something.

    • 34% left in under 2 hours. Get it right.

  • +4

So many phoney beer connoisseurs. It all tastes the same after three cans

    • +2

Agree. 99% of above fake reviews have never tried it.
A couple of years ago i took a slab of Fosters and a slab of Asahi to an event… the Fosters as a bit of a joke… or so I thought…. the attendees (mixed ages, mixed nationalities) were all over the Fosters without hesitation and went back for seconds. I ended up taking half the Asahi home.

    • Have you experienced how insufferable most wine connoisseurs are???

  • -1

You can probably get something similar from any bottlo for this money. Amazon beer isn't any cheaper.

  • Just think of it as a kickstarter campaign for ads.

  • The Welsh love it. When I was there I used to say; "You know why this stuff is exported to you? Coz we won't drink it." (It's probably manufactured there, I know. Yes, I used the word manufactured, not brewed.)
