      Care to explain?

      • Did a booking with them. Paid for the tickets but somehow AirAsia claimed they didn't received it. Money was deducted from the bank account though. Luckily I managed to take down the booking confirmation as it disappeared the next day on the Air Asia website.

Then came the stressful part. They do not have any hotlines to call. Only chatbots that I had to keep navigating until I reached the part where I can enquire about my flight (You can imagine what happen if I didn't jog down the booking confirmation). Managed to get a human response in the end but it takes 3 business day for them just to check on the funds status. Another week to refund the money back to the bank.

In the end I just went with Scoot. For peace of mind.

Their chatbot system is the worst.

Beware that Bangkok means Don Mueang, not Swampy

    • Don Mueang is not as bad to get to these days.
There's a NEW Skytrain + Metro to get to the Airport now.
There's a few videos on Youtube explaining how to do it.
It's about 40 mins from Asoke.

Don Mueang is okay but these flights are via KL…..unless you fly Air Asia x direct to BKK (Suvarnabhumi Airport)

Nice to see a Soi 6 fan on here, I hope to get back there in Oct-Nov

  • Would like to know people’s experience about Air Asia as well as I am booking flights for a family trip in Dec/Jan. Most of the websites give me flights with Air Asia.

Pre-covid I used them to go to Malaysia, so not sure if they've become better, worse or the same after. It was what one would expect from a budget airline tbh - need to pay extra for carry on baggage, choosing your seats and the pre-reserved meal (otherwise you pay onboard and that's first come first serve - they may run out if you're unlucky) - if you're on a budget, it's not terrible (unless that's changed), just need to be mindful of what you're paying for.

      • Thanks for your reply.

    • Flew them a number of times (pre-covid) in both regular seating and their flatbed seats, which you can often pick up for $300 or so on the day of the flight. If you've got an overnight flight, they're really worth it, you can sleep and you get priority through customs and check-in. Most of the benefit of business class without the fancy food and wines. Their food was pretty good, I thought - sorta authentic Malaysian flavours, though a limited selection. Seats in economy are pretty tight, similar to other low cost carriers. Their customer support and backend systems aren't fantastic, though, as someone above pointed out, I was fortunate in that all trips I've had with them went off without a hitch.

Yeah the drip pricing is the killer.
    20kg luggage $70 OW. (that's GC -> KUL)
Want to sit together? that's $32/seat.
at least their meals are only $7.50 (prebooked).

    • +1

Yeah those prices are crazy. On the recent vietjet sale i paid $15 for an exit row seat and $40 for 20kg baggage

Then there's the credit card surcharge: ~AU$70 on ~AU$1,200 worth of fares and extras.

  • Hope this is not a silly question: How to find their Flight Route?
I tried to look from the website, then google, but nothing worthwhile.
Hopefully someone has a quick answer before I launch into a huge search :-)

    Thanks in advance!

  • I cant find the deal, looks like I may be searching wrong?
I did melb to denpasar on 5th of oct and it's showing around 350 which is the norm from other places I've seen like jetstar and jetstar arent offering 3 hour layovers at KL
