    Will start roasting

Based on historic comments, that will start soon.

    • -2

Posted a month to the day… it's almost like they know how to dodge the OzB dupe rules…

      • +11

Dodge or adhere. I guess that’s a matter of perception.

        • +2

I'd think adhere, dodging implies a rule was broken but consequences were avoided.

    • +1

Given it feels these guys advertise the same prices every couple of weeks I'm getting close to thinking it deserves a roasting.

  • Perfect timing, thanks

  • -1

    rep, can make an appointment?

  • +1

    Impeccable timing!!

  • Which blend is OzBargainers favorite of this roaster? On the site, Enterprise and Sumatra blends have the highest reviews of all the blends. Wondering which one most OzBargainers go for.

    • +1

Sumatra seems like the most popular. It's my favourite of the coffees that regularly make the rounds on ozbargins

    • +3

Give Enterprise a go first. Great middle of the road blend

    • +1

Pegasus is my favourite, it's very forgiving to dial in and easy to drink.

    • +2

Personally I like the stargazer for making latte.

    • +1

Currently drinking Sumatra and really enjoying it for my Lattes, ordered a bag of Enterprise yesterday, arrived today! So will probably open that end of next week sometime, enjoyed that also previously.

    • +2

Enterprise is my go too so far but have yet to try Colombia and Thunderchild

  • +3

    Best blend for filter?

    • +1

I personally prefer Enterprise. I've tried a couple different but they all tasted a bit odd, could never describe it.

  • +9

    I like coffee

  • +1

Can anyone offer some review/feedback on this roaster. always see them offering ridiculously low prices for speciality coffee - that makes one a bit suspect as to whether this is specialty or falls more into commercial style roasting

    Thank you

    Josh

    • +3

You could read the comments on the last 10 deals.

    • +3

I rate it but it is like asking people their favourite beer or water. Everyone has different tastes. Only you can decide.

As far as customer service, they are exceptional at that.

    • +2

I have been buying their stuff for a while now, and i can say that it's pretty decent (at least the sumatra blend).

They are fairly consistent, and i've only noticed staleness once in the last two years (stale in the sense that after being freshly bought, the espresso i made from it doesn't have as much crema and isn't as nice/thick).

The taste is subjective, but i say it's good. Much better than any colesworth coffee beans.

I've purchased higher priced single origin ones, and i've tried other sellers as well. The difference, at the end of the day, is minor, and in a milk drink, you're not gonna notice much if the preparation is consistently and properly done.

I dont prefer drinking straight espresso, and i also wouldn't recommend blends for such purposes, but your milage may vary.

Ok … Never tried these guys, but I could see some posts in the past, decided to give it a go and got the following beans:

    • COLOMBIA BLEND - Deep & Smooth
    • TWILIGHT BLEND - Rich & Creamy
    • ENTERPRISE BLEND - Strong & Smooth
    • SUMATRA BLEND - Smooth & Rich

Feel free to comment if I made the right decision hehehe..

    • -5

Well you overpaid compared to only around 2 weeks ago…

Due to the constant 'sales' from this store

      • +4

        Cheaper 2 weeks ago
        COLOMBIA - $31.47 - $33.00 = - $1.53
        TWILIGHT - $30.77 - $33.00 = - $2.23
        ENTERPRISE - $30.77 - $33.00 = - $2.23

        Total = $5.99

        More Expensive 2 weeks ago
        SUMATRA - $39.14 - $33.00 = + $6.14

        Total = $6.14

Hahaha comparing the posts I would say I saved $0.15…..Thanks for alerting me I'll definitely keep an eye for the 'sale' posts they have here.

        Cheers mate.

        • +1

          I would say I saved $0.15

          Woo! :P

    • +2

How much bloody coffee do you drink? lol

      • +3

        Let's say that I'll be OK for the next month or 45 days!!! ☕͜ (ᵔ ̮ ᵔ)›

  • +1

I got the decaf from the last deal. It's decent and pretty fresh. My favourite decaf is Lime Blue, but need to wait on sales from them which are less common than these guys. Good value for money here, though, especially with free express shipping thrown in (I'm in regional WA and usually get reamed on the shipping).

    • +2

my wife been drinking decaf(prego) and she love this compare to the big brands like pablo rusty or campos! I got to taste them and it's definitely up there. Haven't try the lime blue I might suggest that to my wife!

  • +1

All the products on their site are 5 stars! But looking online they seem to have around a 4 star average!

  • +1

    delayed delivery available?

    • also want to know this

      • Why

        • +2

So your beans are delivered as fresh as possible for when your bean supply is running out.

  • +4

As a non-coffee connoisseur (I drink Aldi Brazil beans!), as these are twice the price, are they twice as good? I know it's subjective, but I'm hoping someone with more 'coffee know how' that has tried the cheaper options can explain why these are worth the difference?

(Note, I'm happy to pay more for a big step up, but if I'm ok drinking the aldi brazil or dark beans, will I really notice the difference, given my palate isn't exactly discerning!?)

The only beans I have had before that I could really tell were 'better' (for me!) were Pablo and Rusty's porter street, which probably isn't great to coffee specialists, but I liked it.

    • +5

Coffee snobs like beans that are fresh roasted. As per the post these will be roasted Monday, and express post means they will arrive super fresh.

Most supermarket beans sit on the shelf for an indefinite amount of time. The notion is that they reduce in flavour and aroma as time elapsed.

As far as flavour goes, YMMV:

As to whether you would notice a benefit would depend on a bunch of factors including your pallette, the gear you are grinding and extracting with, and how good you are at using it

      So… Maybe ;p

What I will say though is that as far as fresh quality coffee goes these guys are the real deal. Their product is good, and very competitive @ this deal. So if you were interested in playing with some 'good' beans, the price is pretty good for what you get.

      • I use a sunbeam 480 grinder, so nothing remotely flashy! Very basic home setup.

I always try to work out the date from the longest use by date on the aldi beans but who knows there, they have a highish turnover so hopefully not on the shelf for months! Bought stuff from Amazon before that must have been 6 months post roast, they didn't taste as good as aldi. Maybe I'll try a bag, see what fresh is really like! Thanks

    • +1

      Nope. Drink what you like.

Most roasters sell commodity coffee. Some better than others but at the commodity coffee level it's not much of a distinct difference. They're all roasted medium to dark and you're mostly tasting roast.

There's a notable difference when you've spent too much money and time (hopefully as a hobby/enthusiast) trying out origin characteristics what producers can do, and how well the roaster can best represent the origin. If I'm going to be honest it's really a lucky dip..

    • I have tried many, many beans at all price points over the last 18 months and in the lower price tiers the two that stand out for me are ALDI and Sicilia. ALDI = pretty good quality at a very low price, but the trade-off is variable freshness and availability (they are often out of stock at my local). Sicilia = speciality roaster quality and freshness at a significantly lower price (though more expensive than ALDI), with the trade-off being that it is only available via mail order for me, and there is a shipping fee. This won't matter to many people but neither have good packaging (ugly designs and non resealable bags).

I haven't tried many AIRJO varieties but those that I sampled were no better trading than ALDI beans (and the packaging design is dreadful). Very fast shipping though.

  • Im wondering if anyone has used the Sumatra or Enterprise beans on the Breville Barista Pro?

Ive got one and cant seem to get thr configuration right
    Can anyone share their setup?

    • +2

18-20 gr with number 5 for the grind is my go to and always on point.

    • +1

i have the barista express, which i think is the same grinder (the machine is not that different, except for the dual boiler).

For the sumatra blend, i use 19 grams (with the double shot basket). The grind setting for me is often a 3 or a 2 (so quite fine). I make sure to spread the grinds with a rake of some sort (the WDT method), and i do find doing this made the biggest difference, as the grinder in the machine makes a lot of clumps (that are invisible to a casual look).

    • For Enterprise I was doing grind size 15, and time 13 seconds. But I don't really know what I'm doing.

    • I see lots of replies but only one grind setting which I assume is in the outside dial. What is everyone setting on the inside of the grinder..?

  • +4

Why would you make your own coffee when you can pay $6 to drink the burnt stuff out of a paper cup down the road?

    • $6 bucks for a "BARISTA" Coffee.. Why would you keep making your own coffee man.. lol …

    • $20 for a kilo bag of beans making 130 coffees. $5 for 3 litre milk $2 for a pack of raw sugar and I'm saving money in the process so that's my reason why…

      • +4

$20 for a kilo bag of beans making 130 coffees

7.7g per coffee!?!?! Tell him he's dreaming

        • Single shot drinker??

      • +1

        woosh?

  • +1

I love your light roast twilight blend I have never bought anything else. once you get it brewed perfect its out of this world. I only get 500g bags though I like to keep it always fresh in 2 weeks :D

    • +3

You could get the 1kg bag, break them up into zip lock bags and freeze it.

    • +1

      How about this?

  • Thanks OP, Ill give it a slash

  • +1

just in time for my Hario switch from last deal

    • Does this work with Hario Immersion Dripper?

Once you open the bag is there a seal?

What kind of grind would work with this Hario? Filter?

Reviews say batches vary, sour, fruit and bitter, much more good reviews than bad though. Will get some!

      • +2

When I get a kilo bag, what I like to do is split it up into 1 container for the "drink now" beans + several containers for storing the "drink later" beans

        • Drink now - Coffeevac vacuum-sealed container 1/2lb - $30. Yes its expensive, but keeps around 250g of beans fresh for you + one other to drink for the next week or two. This one sits on my counter, the black protects the beans from light as well.

        • Drink later - Kmart mason jars - $6. Cheap and does the job. I chuck the rest of the beans in here and store them in the freezer. Right before my drink now beans run out, I take one out of the freezer and let it defrost for a couple hours. Overnight or from morning to evening is enough. Then chuck them into the coffeevac and you're set again for the next two weeks!

Alternatively, you could try using one of the kmart mason jars as your "drink now" container as well. I doubt it'd keep the beans as fresh, but could be worth a try if you drink quickly or are on a budget.

        • +1

Thank Tim! have the Coffeevac coming, will try with mason jars and see how i go.

      • +1

Also the filter grind should work with the hario dripper. If you have your own grinder it could be better just to buy whole beans and grind it yourself

  • +5

@AIRJO CoffeeRoasters is there delayed delivery available?

    • +1

      This!

    • +1

+1. These deals offer. Come up when I already have a quantity of fresh beans waiting to be used. Deferred delivery would mean I can buy when in this situation.

  • +1

Little marionette is a cheaper and subjectively nicer for me right now with the buy one get one free.

I seem to always go back to Thunderchild and Enterprise. This time round I've ordered Saratoga.

  • Thanks got some. Any discount on aeropress ?

  • How does this decaf compared to lime blue one?

If you have any questions please reach out through our site

I've scoured the website but can't find my answers so I'll ask here since I know the op wouldn't just post and run.

    1. Is AIRJO named after the companies data mining algrythm?
    2. Which of the blends include Aussie beans as my count is currently zero?

    Thanks in advance.

    • -6

OzB really needs to change how idiots can anonymously neg any reasonable comment without giving a reason.

      • +1

It's funny because they mention aussie beans. If someone is gonna troll, they really should at least learn some climate knowledge.

        • ah, I thought it was the data mining question, shoulda guessed it would be the snobs who feel aussie coffee is sub-par.

      • +1

I agree! I wish you could see my neg…Aussie beans FFS

      • -1

Another hater of aussie grown coffee or just a sheep ….

        • Righto champ, how much coffee is grown in Australia and how much of that is exported vs how much is consumed here?

I'm all for supporting Aussie grown but can't imagine we can supply much of the domestic market

          • @OzBragain: Local growers supply about 1% of the coffee consumed here, should be far more but locals don't push for more local stuff. There's a bucket load of local growers who sell their product online.

I have a few favourites but the one I love most comes from Skybury. Another type I enjoy is a bit cheaper, about $100 for a 3kg bag.

Regardless, your still negging someone who's asking after a homegrown blend. Good way to support aussie products there champ.

  • +2

Just wondering if the coffee can be shipped next month. I'll be travelling soon and coming back in July.

  • +1

    Airjo or Inglewood?

  • Thanks will give it a crack!

  • hows this compare to my aldi instant coffee granules?

  • +4

Hey @AIRJO CoffeeRoasters, I’m a long time subscription customer, paying $35 a month for 1kg of Enterprise, and every time I see you post these one-off deals it makes me think I should cancel my subscription - it’s often significantly cheaper to just jump on your latest one-off deal…

I feel like you’re disincentivising subscription customers. Is this your intention?

  • +1

Got given a Breville dual boiler but don't have a grinder. Am I completely wasting my time with pre-gound?

    • Nah, do what suits your setup and needs. Preground won't stay fresh as long as whole beans, but saves the time and effort of using a grinder.

    • I worked in specialty coffee space. Just my two cents.

The second you grind the coffee, flavours are starting to escape(hence coffee shops smell so good).

If budget allows, I would definitely invest in a coffee grinder. Breville Smart Grinder Pro would be a good start since it's so versatile and not too expensive.

You can definitely tell the difference in 1 week old pre-ground vs 1 week old bean sitting in hopper and freshly grounded coffee.

Though, buy at your own risk. Coffee game could be a rabbit hole.

  • When does this sale end please?

  • +1

Received my first ever order today. Sumatra blend with Aeropress grind.

Great grind, plunged really easily via inverted method, no grit even with my stainless steel filter. Taste was really smooth with no bitterness.

Roasted on day of despatch too!

    Will be buying again!

  • I usually get the lavazza on special for 50% off @ about 22$ is it worth forking out the extra 10 for any of these?

    • +1

The Lavazza beans will probably be fairly old by the time you buy them. I would say it's worth trying a few different freshly roasted beans to see what you think as the beans generally make the biggest difference.

  • seems op doesnt reply much if at all to any
