How are these as steam drives ? Plenty fast ?

  • Seems to be ebayplus member usable only

    • Yes so that's another $4.99 for a months worth of ebay plus unless a person hasn't yet taken advantage of the free 1 month trial.

    • I just used the SEOFY20 code and i dont have ebay plus. I ended up paying $79.20

      • Yes that's the code for the non plus customers which gives 20% off instead.

Which is a $1.98 difference more in price compared to the ebay plus coupon. So i suppose that paying $4.99 for a months worth of ebay plus just for this one item is not worth it when this is only $1.98 more. Unless you can obtain the free 1 month ebay plus trial or you've already got that $4.99 for 1 year ebay plus membership from last November.

The 870 Evo's an objectively better (but more expensive) drive right?

    • +1

I'd agree with this statement, however, don't get me wrong, the MX500's from Crucial are still very good.

870 Evo Performs better, having better specs, yes. Quality control and reliability could be batch dependent:

      https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/samsung-870-evo-b…

The main issue with both 870 Evo and MX500 is both makers to change components inside (so newer batches get released regularly). As such, the reviews you read online don't necessary reflect what you get.

  • compatible with this tiny pc? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/781809

    • Yes. You will most likely need to replace the internal SSD unless it has empty SATA ports.

      • I'm quite sure that these only have one SATA 2.5" and one NVMe SSD drive slots. So you're better off buying say a 1TB NVMe SSD because it will be much faster.

        • thanks

    • Yes but you’re better off buying a NVMe for the M2 slot in that machine. Same price, much better performance.

      • k thanks

I'm on a free Amazon Prime trial and noticed a $10 off coupon for this same drive, bringing the price down to $74.

    • I don't see a coupon. All used up?

      • It’s a general coupon given to new users when they start a trial.

        • Where would I be able to see the coupon?

          • @zemphism: It’s targeted. Amazon would have contacted you if you are eligible.

If mod could edit title to add alternative options available or just rip this post :)

For those that still want this SSD. For ebay plus members 78$, non-member 80$. All have free standard postage* ..and in no apparent order still available through

  • Would this be good as a nas drive?

    • Same Q. Thinking to replace all my HDDs to SSDs slowly

  • Thought about getting the Cruxial MX500 2TB for $155.22 (with coupon) to use for games. Worth it? (MB is the Gigabyte Z68XP-UD5 Rev.1.0(Socket 1155)
