  • Is the RAM upgradeable on these?

    • LOL you're dreaming it's a Microsoft product

      • +7

Are you implying that it's a Microsoft specific limitation?

        • +8

Yeah let's not pretend 99.9% of thin laptops haven't been soldered for years

          • +3

@Merlict: That's right, it's the form factor limitation regardless of the manufacturer.

      • +2

They've actually made it far more upgradable and repairable recently, if you dont keep up with the news stop with the cynicism

    • would be very difficult given its form factor. And no you cant

  • +10

Honestly these specs were outdated on release.

11th gen for this price plus its intended use as a creative professional machine doesn't really add up well.

  • +1

    hardly a deal

i got the SurfaceLaptop 4 13inch BLK R5 16/256 for $1,153.00 in nov last year

No idea how the pricing has gone up?

    • -1

even i have no idea how interests rates gone up

      • you're not smart enough to understand
interest rates have nothing to do with electronics that have already been made

  • 11th gen laptop for 2.3 just get a discounted m1 mac pro.

  • +1

Not worth the money. The specs are pretty outdated and battery life is terrible

  • I have been using Studio for about 12m as it was provided by the workplace

and I will say this: stay away

sometimes randomly decides not to charge from a thunderbolt dock, and dies within couple hours plugged in

battery lasts maybe 3-4 hours tops when not plugged in

randomly disconnects USB devices whenever it feels like

all latest updates and firmware installed

  • +3

    Sorry, I need to say

this is not a bargain, not even a deal i think.

gen 11 this spec this price.

  • I'm in the market for a slim portable laptop, Surface Laptop 5 or MacBook Air 13 M2. The laptop is outdated and I'm not sure about the MacOS/ecosystem.

There are utilities/tools I use on Windows to manage and bulk update metadata of photos and MP4 videos. For example, renaming files from the date taken attribute, and in other cases setting all dates in the metadata from the filename (YYYYMMDD_MMHHSS.jpg).

Can't find such tools for MacOS.

Discount on the Surface Laptop is tempting, so is the performance and battery life on MacBook Air.
    HELP!!

Recently ordered a Lenovo Yoga Pro 9i 16” with the highest specs (i9-13905H, 32 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD, RTX 4050, Touch Screen). Came to $2700 via rep quote + ~$400 cash-back via Cash Rewards making the price around $2300.

      • 16" is too big for me. I already have a desktop for heavy-duty work. My ideal portable laptop would be 13-14" 3:2 or 16:10 taller aspect ratio.

Regardless, seems like you got a great deal. Lenovo usually has cashback/points rewards if you signup to their free loyalty program, hope you got something back there as well. Enjoy your laptop when it arrives.

        • +1

Yes, I think I will get $177 rewards in Lenovo account too once the laptop is delivered. They have the 14” Pro 9i version, but very expensive compared to 16”. You can look into their Pro 7i as well starting from $1600.

      • Does CR work with quotes? Might be ordering a laptop from Lenovo in the future and not sure about whether it works or not.

        • I hope it works. Cashback was tracked successfully and received an email.

      • Great specs for the price, hard to not look. Will checkout their range, haven't looked at MSI at all.

Slightly slower 12th Gen is now $1K

    • +1

The best experience I've had for managing photos (Windows or Mac) is using Adobe Lightroom and to a lesser extent Adobe Bridge (which is free!) but I haven't used either in years.

You could also check out the open source project darktable which has metadata-naming-pattern functionality but this is possible during import only.

Also as much as I hate to say it… Apple's own "Photos" app is actually really great for 90% of people. It (can) rename images, compatible with almost any format (raw included), doesn't compress images, finds duplicates, ability to edit, and so on.

      What about ExifRenamer?

      • That might be it. Will watch more detailed usage on YouTube. Thank you!

Surface only makes sense when dumped by Microsoft and then sold for sub $1000

    • +1

The Go is a vastly inferior model (worse screen, plastic, no backlight etc) and that's an old model too. Was cheaper for a reason.

  • At this price unless you're dead set on Windows, MBP M1 14" would be a better buy.

  • The concept of the Studio is so cool but a shame it seems to be having issues

  • more expensive than apple. is it better than apple?

    • +5

Apple don't make anything like this with the stylus for art / editing.
